Eric and Anna (Wiklund) Roden, Cope

Anna Olivia Wiklund was born March 11, 1862 at Forsa, Gavleborg, Sweden to John Olof Wiklund and Anna Cathrina Jansson.

On August 6, 1903, Erik, 44, a laborer, Anna 41, and Carl 13 arrived in Boston on the Ivernia from Liverpool, next to Olaf Allinder 29, a laborer with Martha 24.

All were going to Lyons, Nebraska. Nils Oman was a friend of Allender, living at Box 110, Lyons, and Nils was Eric Roden's brother.

(John O. Ulinder 1874-1943 is buried in Bowsman, Manitoba # 111880549.) So is Martha K. (Erikson) Ulinder 1879-1964 # 111880550.


In 1910 Burt County, Nebraska, Eric Roden is a painter, 51, married 20 years to Anna O. 48, a laundress, with Carl O., 20, a hostler. All were born in Sweden, immigrating in 1903.

Erik Roden proved up a quarter in section 14, 4S 50W, northwest of Cope, Colorado.
Carl O. proved up a quarter in section 23, also in 1917.

In 1930 Cameron County, Erik Roden is a painter, 71, Anna O. 68, both born in Sweden.

Erik Roden was born Feb 18, 1859 in Sweden to Olif Oman and Martha Eriksdotter, dying in Cameron County December 26, 1936.

In 1940 Cameron, Anna is widowed, 78, living with son Carl O. 49, a painter. Esther is 36, born in Kansas, Leigh 17 and Vernon 9 both born in Missouri.

Per her death certificate, Anna Oliva Roden was born March 11, 1862 in Helsingland, Sweden to John Wiklund and Anna Johnson, dying April 2, 1941 in Clinton, Missouri at 6th and Harris,.

CARL

July 1917 Washington County, Colorado


In November 1918 Carl, with an artillery unit, was en route to France. When Armistice was announced on November 11, 1918, both Josephine and Hulda Oman wept for joy, according to Jennie (Oman) Monk.

July 1946 "Carl Roden, who was enroute from Cameron, Missouri, to Great Falla, Mkmtana, stopped Friday to visit; at the O. H. Oman home. He is a relative at the Omans."

In 1950 Kalispell, Montana, Carl O. Rodeen is 59, Esther A. Rodeen 46 Wife, and Vernon L. Rodeen 19 Son.

September 1956 Yuma, Colorado "Mr. and Mrs. Carl Roden, Whitefish, Montana, spent Wednesday night with their cousin, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Monk."
(Jennie OMAN Monk was the cousin.)
" Mr. and Mrs. Carl Roden of Whitefish, Mont., visited in Wray on Tuesday and Wednesday with their cousins, Mrs. Lillie McGinnis and the Herbert Omans."

In 1957 Whitefish, Montana " Carl and Esther Roden were elected alternate delegates to the State Grange."

Robert Kettenring proved up a quarter in section 15, 4S 51W, a few miles west of the Roden's, and another in section 15, both in 1913. Alice Esther (Kettenring) Roden was the daughter of Robert Keysor Kettenring and Eva Esther Rose. "Esther Roden, 62, wife of Carl Roden, died this morning in Whitefish after a sudden illness. Mrs. Roden was born June 14, 1904 in Plainville, Kansas, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kettenring. She later moved with her parents to Arikaree, Colo., where she received her education. She later moved to Cameron, Mo. In 1922 she was married to Roden in Cameron. She and her husband moved to Whitefish in 1946 where she had resided since. Mrs. Roden was a member of the Christian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary in Cameron and the Bissell Grange 137 Whitefish.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Verl Kettenring and one daughter, Leigh Marie in the 1940's and is survived by her husband at the family home in San Diego, Calif.; two grandchildren, one brother Donald Kettenring of Great Falls; three sisters, Mrs. Everett (Olive) McCann of Vaughn, Mont., Mrs. Tom (Dorothy) Paine of Cope, Colo., Mrs. Arvis (Hazel) Jensen of Salt Lake City, Utah.
Funeral services for Mrs. Roden will be announced at a later time by the Catron Funeral Home. "



In 1969 Carl Roden is in San Diego County, living at 1472 Judson Way. Vernon is also there, with Masako, in the U.S. Navy. "Services were conducted yesterday for Carl Olaf Roden, 79, of 1472 Judson Way, Chula Vista, by Dr. Everett L. Sorensen in Humphrey Chula Vista Mortuary. Burial followed in La Vista Memorial Park. Born in Sweden, Roden maintained a residence in Whitefish, Mont., but lived here with his son, Vernon L., for the past five years while under a doctor's care. He died Saturday in a local hospital. He was a retired painter and served as a sergeant in the Army during World War I. Besides his son, a foster daughter survives."
Vernon Lyle Roden was born July 4, 1930 at Cameron, dying October 11, 1999.

VERNON

In 1957 arriving at Honolulu were Katherine, Vernon, and Masako Roden.

In 1969 Carl Roden is in San Diego County, living at 1472 Judson Way. Vernon is also there, with (Masako), in the U.S. Navy.
Vernon is at the same address in 1971.
Masako, born January 23, 1929, died June 10, 2011, last residence Chula Vista, San Diego County.

LEIGH

Leigh, 1922-1945, is buried in Manila, Philippines # 56780231.
