Alice (Wood) (Ostrander) White, sons Earl Ostrander, Guy A. Ostrander, Ralph Lewis Ostrander, Jaqua
In 1880 Bennington, Ottawa County, Kansas, Allie Wood is 14, born in Michigan, with six siblings and widowed father James Wood, 55.
In 1885 Saline County, Kansas, A. J. Ostrander (probably Alice Jerusha Ostrander) is 18, married to G.R. 31, with daughter M.V. eleven months.

In 1910 Pueblo, Colorado, Alice is 44, married to David White, 56. They have Edna 7, David A. 4, and Earl Ostrander 17.
David White proved up two quarters in 18 and 19, 4S 42W, and 24, 4S 43W in 1919.
1922 "David White of Armel, who has been employed in a sugar factory at Brush for the past two months, returned to his home via Wray yesterday."
Alice White is buried in Armel 1866-1924, and so is David White.
Abraham Breninger married Margaret Varns in 1857 in Holmes Co., OH. They had three sons, Armel S., Marion, and William. Margaret died in 1865 and Abraham later married Martha. Some time after his second wife's death in 1870, he moved west. In 1880, he was in Madison Co. IA, and in 1885, he was in Richardson Co., NE.
In 1860 Holmes County, Ohio, Abraham Breninger is 31, M.A. 29, with A.S. 2, M.L. six months.
Charles R. Breninger proved up a quarter in 18, 4S 42W in 1911.
Armel Sylvester Breninger, per one tree, was born Dec 18, 1857 in Millersburg, Holmes County, Ohio, marrying Alice Piper February 24, 1881 in Dallas County, Iowa.
In 1885 Richardson County, Nebraska, Armel is 27, Alice 24, both Ohio, with Charles 3, George 1, both Nebraska. and father Abraham, 56, a retired carpenter.
Abraham 1828-1887 is buried in Richardson County.
Armel S. Breninger proved up a quarter in 17, 4S 42W in 1895. The town of Armel was in the northwest corner of this quarter, the emetery in the southwest corner.
Armel built a store on his homestead and served as the first postmaster. He even conducted a marriage ceremony in 1916.
His son, Charles R., succeeded him as postmaster in 1933, serving in that capacity for two years.
Armel S. 1856-1932 is buried in Armel. So is Alice K. (Piper) Breninger 1861-1942.
GEORGE
November 5, 1914 "G.R. Breninger returned from Sylvan Grove, Kans., last Tuesday and brought with him one of Lincoln county's highly respected belles, who became his bride on Sunday, October 25." This, per one tree, is Edna M. Cullum. In 1910 Graham County, Kansas, Edna M. is 23, with parents parents James D. 49 and Martha E. 43 Cullum. Martha E. Cullum, widowed, is in Yuma County in 1920, living with cousin Jacob and Rose Gilstrap. Roy G. 16 and James E. 9 are also with them.
Ethel Cullum, 14, is also in Yuma County in 1920, a servant for Frank W. Breninger 29, and Ruth R. 21, with Evelyn M. Breninger, 3.
In 1925 Lincoln County, Kansas, Martha 56, Ethel 19, and Estle 14 are living together. In 1930 Russell County, Kansas, Estel J., doing odd jobs, is 19, living with Martha E. 63, who does housework.
George Pias Breninger registered for WWI with an Armel address, born May 26, 1884, married to Edna.
In 1940 Cheyenne County, Kansas, George P. is working on a WPA project, 55, born in Nebraska, Edna M. 53 Missouri, with Zelda A. 24, Alta F. 17, George E. 16, these three born in Colorado, and Eunice M. 11, Kansas.
George 1884-1960 and Edna 1887-1981 are buried in Armel.
Frank W. Breninger married Ruth Moberly Dec 8, 1915, recorded in Yuma County.
Charles Breninger married Mae Carlson Sept 1, 1915, recorded in Yuma County.
Lena "Mae" (Carlson) Breninger 1892-1916 is buried in Armel, although the
obituary has burial in Wray.
Charles Roy Breninger - 1882-1961 is buried in Armel.

In 1900 Santa Barbara, California, Bertha, born June 1890 in Kansas, is with James Kerd 33, Bernice 2, and Mary Wood 46.
In 1910 Bertha L. is a saleswoman in a grocery store, 18, born in Colorado, niece of Luther L. Harville and Bertha Harville in Santa Barbara, California.
In 1920 Santa Monica, "Lucy" is 27, married to Fred Breininger, 35, with Dorothy 6, Paul 2, and Earl Ostrander 26.
In 1930 Santa Monica, Frederic C. Breininger is 47, Bertha 37, and Paul F. is 13.

RALPH
Ralph, per one tree, was born Jan 10, 1888, married Grace Muller, and died April 18, 1947.
Ralph cash-claimed a tiny - about 10 acres plot in 8, 5S 42W in 1914.
He registered in Yuma County, getting his mail at Jaqua, Kansas, born January 10, 1888 at Bennington, Kansas.
In 1920 Hale precinct, Ralph is a carpenter, 33, born in Kansas, with mother Alice J. 53, who is married to David White, 65.. Alice's brother Arthur G. Wood, 48, widowed, is also with them. (Alice Ostrander had married David White July 26, 1902, recorded in Pueblo)
1922 "Ralph Ostrander has gone to California for an indefinite stay."
Ralph Ostrander of Delhi dies.
Ralph Lewis Ostrander, 59, died at his home in Delhi early Friday after a short
illness. Ostrander, born in Bennington, Kan., spent the early part of his life
in that state and Colorado, came to Santa Monica, Calif., in 1922, and moved to
Watsonville six years later. He moved to Delhi in 1937. He was a member of
American Legion Post 189, Delhi. Besides his wife, Mrs. Grace Ostrander, Delhi,
he leaves two stepsons, Hurd Barrington JR, Turlock and Rex Barrington, Delhi;
one stepdaughter, Mrs. Helen Wilson, Turlock; three brothers, Guy Ostrander,
Hale, Colo., Earl Ostrander, Delhi, and Alton White, Long Beach; three sisters,
Mrs. Myrtle Sweem, Kansas City, Kan., Mrs. Bertha Neilson, Venice, Calif.,
and Mrs. Edna O'Donnell, Long Beach, and five grandchildren. Burial will follow

EARL
One tree said Earl was born July 27, 1893, married Clemence Harville in 1919, and died in Stanislaus County California March 6, 1972.
Earl proved up 240 acres in 19, 4S 42W in 1919.
"Clemence Ostrander, Delhi Resident Since 1925, Dies. Funeral services for Clemence L. Ostrander, 67, will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. at the Allen Mortuary. Interment will be in Turlock Memorial Park. Mrs. Ostrander died Thursday in a local hospital, following a short illness. A native of Nevada*, she lived in Colorado coming to California in 1919 making her home in Santa Monica until moving to Delhi in 1925. She was a member of the Delhi Community Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her husband, Earl Ostrander of Delhi; six sons, Russell and LaVern Ostrander, both of Delhi; Dale Ostrander, Hilmar; Jack Ostrander of El Sobrante, Dick Ostrander of Las Vegas and Alan Ostrander of Delhi; 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren." - Turlock Daily Journal, Fri., 24 Sep 1971,

| GILBERT RANSOM OSTRANDER was my grt-grt grandfather from his first
marriage to Alice "Allie" Jerusha Wood. While married and living in
Pueblo, CO children born to them were: MYRTLE VIVIAN 05/29/1884; GUY A
06/29/1885; SILVIA 1887; RALPH 01/10/1888, FLOYD 03/15/1891; BERTHA LUCY
06/18/1890; and EARL 07/27/1893 (my grandfather). Gilbert's second marriage to Josie Pace (though until recently his family thought he was deceased abt 1900.)There are two family "facts" concerning Gilbert leaving his family in Pueblo advising son Guy he was headed for Reno, KS. My grandfather, Earl Ostrander was one of the early settlers held in high regard by the town populace. He built homes, cabinets, the original post office, repair work for the Pres. Church, etc. (He was a member of the Delhi Presbyterian Church.) Clemence was a member of the Delhi Friendship Club who made homemade patch quilts for the needy. This house represents the legacy of a hard working, moral, gentle man, who wanted to give back to his community. When the depression hit, he and sons took work at the docks in the Bay Area, built roofs, including one of the hotels in Yosemite. He got in the food line, but after two days in the line, he stepped out and vowed to do any kind of work to make it by. He worked his entire life until he was struck with 7 strokes the last of which took his life. Clemence died of a heart attack during the ordeal of seeing her husband having one stroke after another. Their only daughter died of cancer and the will to live slowly degraded. However, it should be known that he supported a large family ...they were industrious...and it is a sad end to a valiant life, well-lived...from Pueblo to Armel, Colorado; to Santa Monica, CA and finally Delhi. They lived in a shanty while he built the two-story white house down the lane which burned down years ago while occupied by new owners. 4 [edited]. # 33653031 says "Note: Gilbert Ransom Ostrander first marriage was to
Alice Jerusha Wood 23 July 1883 in Salina, KS. By 1900 they had Myrtle
Vivian, Guy A., Silvia/Sylvia, Ralph, Bertha Lucy, Floyd and Earl (the
last being my grandfather). Alice was listed as "widow" in the Pueblo,
CO city directory of 1900, and as having a lodging home. There is an
infant buried in the cemetery...most likely month old Silva/Sylvia.
Floyd never lived beyond childhood due to a back/spine injury from a
fall."

GUY
Guy proved up a claim in 4S 42W and 4S 43W in 1914.
In 1920 Hale precinct, Guy is 34, born in Kansas, Olin 33, Iowa. They have Alice 6, Mabel 5, Marjorie 3, twins Gilbert and Gladys 22 months, and Jr. one month. Cousin James Wood, 15 is living with them.
In 1930 Guy and Olive have Alice 16, Mable 15, Marjorie 13, Gilbert 12, Gladys 11, Albert 10, Fern 8, Noel 5, and Irene 2.
In 1940 Guy and Olive have only Noel 15 and Irene 11. Albert, Alice, and Gladys are all students at the Denver Bible Institute.
Guy 1885-1964 is buried in Armel # 81879366, So is Olive M. (Woods) Ostrander 1886-1978.
Alice (Ostrander) Crist 1913-1989 is also buried in Armel. # 81852086.
Gladys (Ostrander) Kinnaman 1918-2008 is also buried in Armel.
