In 1894 Denver, John M. Hanney is a laborer, living at 3143 Market. Also at 3143 Market is John M. Haney, a watchman for American Water Wks Co.. - James Hanney is a bricklayer at 335 Mary.
John M. Haney, a laborer born at Geneva, Pennsylvania, age 19, enlisted 1899 in the 7th Infantry, discharged August 9, 1899 Camp Osbourne.
John M. Haney is a boiler-maker in Denver in 1900, born May 1852 in England, married 22 years to Kate Nov 1862 Ireland. William June 1879 a boiler-maker, John January 1881 a soldier in the Colorado 7th Infantry, Mary December 1883, James January 1886, and Ellen A. October 1890, these five in Pennsylvania, and then Josephine July 1894 Colorado.
John M. Haney married Leota M. Ecker July 1, 1911, recorded in Jefferson County. Mary Leota Ecker divorced Walter A. Ecker in Denver in 1910.
John is a brick contractor in 1910 and 1920 Denver. In 1920 they're on Bryant Street, Mary E. 36 and Josephine A. 25 have no occupation. John said he immigrated in 1874, naturalized the same year. Kate said she immigrated in 1875, naturalized 1878.
On the same census page in 1920 is John M. Haney, 38, a brick layer, married to Leota M. 45 - both born in Pennsylvania. Next is Leo J. Rowan 31, a brick layer, married to Ellen A. 29.
James E. Haney 1886-1918 is buried in Mount Olivet. So is William H. Haney 1879-1918. An entry in the Builders and Contractors Journal said William H. Haney, a contractor of Denver, Colorado, died December 18, aged 39.
John M. Haney 1857-1925 is buried in Mount Olivet, Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
In 1930 Kate is widowed, 74, Mary C. still doesn't have an occupation, but Josephine A. is a stenographer.
Catherine M. Haney 1857-1934 is buried in Mount Olivet.
In 1940 Mary and Josephine are living together on Bryant Street in Denver.
Josephine A. Haney 1894-1965 is buried in Mount Olivet. So is Mary E. Haney 1882-1970.

Della M. (Cranmer) Haney, per # 35380492, is buried in Crown Hill -1899-1984. Della Mae Cranmer was born in Colorado Sept 13, 1899, and married Ralph G. Haney Feb 4, 1918.
| Catherine (Katy) Linscott March 4, 1920 - June 17, 2012 Catherine
(Katy) Linscott passed away peacefully on June 17th in Bakersfield, CA.
She was the oldest of three girls born to Leo and Ellen Rowan in Denver,
CO. Katy was employed in the broadcast business at KLZ radio when she
met her future husband, Oscar, who was a commissioned officer in the
Army Air Corps. They were married on February 7, 1942. After the war,
they settled in Taft, CA and subsequently Bakersfield. Katy was a devout
Catholic who loved her children and husband, Oscar, who predeceased her
in April 2010. She was an accomplished seamstress, avid reader, and
enjoyed working on her crossword puzzles. She was at her happiest in her
retirement home in Morro Bay, CA where she lived until the death of her
husband. Katy was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar, and a son, Michael. She is survived by a son Dennis Linscott, son Timothy and wife Shirley Linscott, and daughter Barbara and husband Jim Crettol. She is additionally survived by four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and two sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. |
Per one tree, John's brother JAMES HANNEY is in Denver in 1890 - a brick layer -and 1900. Born Feb 1855 in England, married eight years to Alma April 1858 Ireland, with Thomas May 1894 Colorado, Bernard April 1896 Colorado, and George R. Sep 1897 Colorado.
One tree said James' sons Fred Hanney 1881-1904 and Miron Hanney 1899-1899 are buried in Denver.
Fred is actually his stepson - Fred Hooker in 1900 Denver, born November 1881 in Illinois.
In 1916 James Haney of Denver was reinstated in the Bricklayer, Mason & Plasterer Union.

POSSIBLE - But this John M. Haney was born in 1886, so he's too young.
James Haney was born in West Moreland county, Penn., October 25, 1840, and died at Fairbury, Nebraska, January 14, 1925. He was the fourth son of a family of seven children all of whom died before he did.
In June 1856, the subject of our biographical sketch moved with his parents to Van Buren county, Iowa, where he grew to manhood.
When the Civil war broke out he enlisted in Company H, 3rd Iowa Cavalry volunteers. On December 4, 1864, he was taken prisoner of war at White Station, Tenn. and was confined in Andersonville and other prisons until the close of the war. At the end of the war, he returned home and resumed his duties of stock raising and farming.
On February 9, 1881 he was united in marriage to Susan Mary Blair, of Latrobe, Iowa. They had five children resulting from this union: Mrs. Ollie J. Mendenhall of Fairbury, Nebr.; Mrs. Elizabeth Agnes Luther, of Denver, Colo.; John M. Haney, who passed away August 18, 1916; Mrs. Luela Ethel Lacy of Des Moines, Iowa and James R. Haney of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
In 1892, the family moved to Goodland and in May 1897 Susan Blair Haney died. Mr. Haney never remarried.
In 1916, Mr. Haney was stricken with blindness and up until the time of his death made his home with his children at different places.
Mr. Haney’s remains were brought to Goodland, Kansas and he was buried in the Goodland Cemetery on January 18th, 1925.
