Charlie W. Kuffler, Willie Kuffler, Hughes

In 1900 Labette County, Kansas Henry Kuffler 1840 Germany and Mary L 1852 Illinois have been married 28 years, with 14 children, 8 still living.  William March 1882 and Charley Oct 1889 are two of the eight still with them.

Mabel E. Chapel was with her parents in 1900 Mitchell County, Kansas, born Oct 1888 to Ingram and Ester E. Chapel.

In 1910 Rooks County Kansas, Willie and Mabel are farming, married a year, and have three-month old Wilbur.

In 1910 Labette County, Charlie 20 is with parents Henry and Mary.  John and Andrew are also with them.

On the same page is Mike, 29, married to Golda 24- they have Henry 6 and Andrew 4.

Willie proved up two quarters in 9 and 10, 3S 48W in 1917.

Willie registered with a Joes address, saying he was born March 5, 1882, and nearest relative was Mable Ester Kuffler.

In 1920 Willie and Mabel in Yuma County have Louise J. 7, Esther E. 4, and Ulah J. 2,



February 2, 1928 "Born to Mr. and Mrs. Will Kuffler Tuesday evening January 24 a baby girl weighing eight pounds. Mother and babe are doing nicely."

In 1930 Willie and Mabel are still in Yuma, with Esther 14, Eulah 12, Maurine 10, Willard 8, Phyllis 5, Rosemary 2, and newborn Keith.


January 1, 1931 - Wm. Kuffler left Tuesday for Mayo Bros. hospital at Rochester, Minnesota where he hopes to get relief from his rheumatism, whiich has made life miserable for him this winter. Jim Hunter took him to the train and he made the remainder of the trip alone."
He returned January 29.

March 23, 1939 - the Hughes items said that Jerry Bennett had bought the Kuffler place, and that the Kufflers were talking about going south.

They're in Brazoria Texas in 1940, with Phyllis Marion 15, Rose Mary 12, and Keith Donald 10.  William isn't employed, and Mable Esther is a housekeeper for a motherless home. 

William died in Galveston County, Mabel in Cameron County, Texas.

Wm. 1882-1952, Mable Oct 14, 1888 - October 14, 1950 and Wilbur Dec 21, 1909-May 27, 1918 are buried in Yuma.


October 26, 1950

Funeral services 'will be held' at 2 p.m Saturday in Yuma, Colorado for William Kuffler, 70, of 132 Htiisache, Lake Jackson. Kuffler died Tuesday in John Sealy Hospital, Galveston. He had been ill for sometime and had been in Galveston for the past

Jackson resident moved to Lake Jackson from Colorado several years ago. Survivors include two sons, Willard of Fort Collins, Colo., and Keith of Bay City; six daughters,  Mrs. Maureen Walker and Phyllis Mariam, both of Lake Jackson; Mrs. Rosemary Silvers, Velasco; Mrs. Louise Berry, Washington, D. C.; Miss Ester Kuffler, Palo Alto, Calif.; Mrs. Eulah Swanson, Brush, Colo.; 11 grandchildren,





Graveside services for Maurine Marion Floyd, 76, of Lake Jackson, will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Restwood Memorial Park Mausoleum with the Rev. Ed Webber officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today at Restwood Memorial Park in Clute. Floyd died Saturday, March 2, 1996 at Village on the Creek Health Care Center in Clute. She was born Feb. 6, 1920 in Yuma County, Colo. She was an area resident since 1940. housewife and member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Jackson. She is survived by two daughters Sharon L. Gonzales of Angleton and Linda C. Allen of Seabrook; two sons James S. Floyd of Tyler and Robert G. Floyd of Houston; four sisters Louise Berry of Lake Jackson, Esther Kuffler of Los Altos, Calif., Phyllis Mariam of Jones Creek and Rosemary Silver of Harlingen; and seven grandchildren Daniel Floyd, Angela Floyd, Christie Sorufka, Jennifer Sorufka Ramsey, Tim Gonzales, Erin Chafin and Linsey Chafin. She was preceded in death by her husband George A. Floyd in 1993.z


Albquerque, New Mexico - February 2, 1986.
"Mr. Willard A. Kuffler, age 64 and a resident of Albuquerque for 35 years , died Saturday following an illness. He is survived by a son Gary and wife Lori of Albuquerque; grandchildren Tanya, Krista, and Collette; sisters, Mrs. Wilbur Berry in Texas, Mrs. Ulan Swanson in Colorado, Mrs. George Floyd, Mrs. Wade Silver and Mrs. Robert Marian all of Texas, and Ms. Ester Kuffler."

Cheyenne, Wyoming - James W. "Wade" Silver, 83, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2004 at the Veterans Administration Hospital.  He was born September 14, 1921 in Spruce Pine, Mitchell Co., NC.

Mr. Silver was an employee of PPG Industries (Pittsburg Plate Glass). He married Rosemary Kuffler on September 1, 1947 in Harlingen, TX.  He was also a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Harlingen, TX

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary Kuffler Silver, his parents, Roy and Verdi Silver and an infant daughter, Diana Lynn Silver.

Survivors include his son, Jerald Silver of O’Fallon, IL; daughters Judy Bezek of Cheyenne, Patricia Cody of Temple, TX; brothers, Gene Silver of Houston, TX, 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A private family service will be held at a later date.

Friends who prefer may contribute to the V.A. Hospice, c/o Eileen McCormick, 2360 W. Pershing Boulevard, Cheyenne, WY in memory of James W. Silver.

Mr. Silver was a lifelong resident of Harlingen, Texas prior to his move to Cheyenne in 2001.  He was much loved and had many friends in both communities.  He will be greatly missed.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home, 2323 Carey Avenue,  Cheyenne, WY.  82001-3697

October 4, 1918 "Dr. Ham reports the arrival of a baby boy at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Kuffler twenty miles south of Yuma, on Thursday, Septemberr 26th."
July 17, 1919 "Mrs. Andrew Kuffler, of south of Yuma, left for Indianapolis, Indiana on the afternoon train last Friday for a few weeks visit with her mother."

In 1920 Yuma County, Andrew Kuffler is farming, 34, born in Kanss, with Mary A. 36, Indiana. Wilbur 7, was born in Indiana, Kenneth 1 in Colorado.

October 6, 1921 "Mrs. Andrew Kuffler and children left for Parsons, Kansas last week to join Mr. Kuffler. The family expect to make their future home in teh Sunflower State."

Charles Kuffler divorced Minerva I. Kuffler in Yuma County in 1915.

Charlie proved up 320 acres in 2 and 3, 3S 48W in 1918.


March 29, 1928 Joes items "Charley Kuffler and family moved onto the Barney Mabray property Monday. Mr. Kuffler is working on the new machine shop being erected by Carl Rinear and will work inside the shop after it is completed. The new shop is being well built and will be quite an addition to the town."

September 27, 1928 "Mrs. John Fagan, of Wray, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Allen Jacobs and family, near Hughes, since Wednesday of last week. Mrs. Fagan went to Joes Monday with the mail carrier to visit another daughter, Mrs. Charley Kuffler." The Joes items said she was visiting Mrs. Orby Kuffler.

August 29, 1929 Hughes items "Gerald Kuffler, of Joes, is spending a few days at the home of his uncle, Wm. Kuffler, in this section."
November 14, 1929 Hughes items "Miss Louise Kuffler was the guest of Miss Opal Jackson Friday night. "Mr. and Mrs. Sam Jackson and daughter, Miss Opal, Louie Aagesoen, Wm. aKuffler and daughters, Louise and Esther, Miss Stella Kuffler and Charles and Alfred Kuffler were Friday evening guests at the home of C.A. McClanahan.

October 10, 1940 "Mrs. Teresa Bradfield, of Parsons, Kansas, visited her brother Charles Kuffler and family over the week end. She was en route home from Topanas (maybe Toponas) where she had been visiting her daughter."

January 28, 1943
March 30, 1944 the Kuffler family had purchased a new home at Gresham Oregon, and Charles had a new granddaugher Diana Gall. Mrs. Edna Fagan may decide to be near them after school is out.

Charles W. 1889-1962 and Orby Muriel FAGAN ROWLEY Kuffler 1897-1987 are buried in Skyline Memorial, Portland.


May 10, 1962

Ila Marie Plesha, born Aug 31, 1921 in Colorado, died May 15, 1994 in Monterey California.  Father was Kuffler, mother's maiden name BARKDOLL - She's buried in Golden Gate National Cemetery.

Willard A. Kuffler 1921-1986 is buried in Sunset Memorial Park, Albuquerque.

Keith Donald Kuffler - Feb 15, 1931-Apr 4, 1982 is buried in Woodlawn, Acadia Parish, Louisiana.

Phyllis Marjory Mariam born Jan 17, 1925, died Jan 18, 2006 in Texas - persons mentioned are Wayne Mariam, Louise Berry, Becky Stover, Robert Mariam, Beth Cloud, Ron Lynn, Jerry, Larry, Jody Mariam.

Esther Edna Kuffler, born Jun 14, 1915 in Colorado, died July 17, 1997 in Santa Clara California.  Father Kuffler, mother's maiden name CHATEL  - she had married William G. Halley August 3, 1961 in Riverside CA.

Ulah June - June 2, 1917-Dec 12, 1994 and Henry "Swede" Swanson 1906-1980 are buried in Brush  86018857

April 16, 1942

GERALD
September 5, 1940 "Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Kuffler moved down last week from Shawnee and he took charge of the Joes service station, having purchased it from Odbert Martin. The latter will devote his time to caring for the drug store, pool hall, and driving a school bus."
