Mattie A. Cecil, Hughes
In 1880 Smith County Kansas Joseph Palmer and Rebecca, both 41, have Ida J. 18, Margeret E. 14, Chas M.C. 9, Martha 7, Edmond 6, William A. 5, Adah. M. 4, and Samuel M. 2.
Her death certificate says she was born December 17, 1871, to Joseph Palmer and Rebecca Fisher in Monroe County, Iowa.
In 1910 Furnas County, Nebraska, Mattie 38, Iowa, divorced, is living with her son Frank P. 18, born in Colorado. Harry L. 13, Kansas, and Anna R. 10, Nebraska are also with Frank.
Frank was a nephew of the James and Cora Palmer family in Furnas County in 1900, but they didn't know where he or his parents were born. "U.S." He registered in Kanorado Kansas , saying he was born August 22, age 25, had a wife and child, but was single?
1914 Wray (State Line News section) "Mrs. Mattie Cecil and family visited with her daughter and attended the decoration day exercises in St. Francis, Friday and Saturday."
"Mrs. Mattie Cecil and family also Ina and Ona Woodin visited at the Ed Merritt home last Saturday." her daughter who married a Merritt.
1916 "Miss Edna Morris and Frank Cecil, of Armel, were united in marriage Thursday, June 22. The ceremony was performed by Judge T.C. Jennings in his office at the court house."
May 15, 1919 Wray "Judge Barker officiated at the wedding of Harry Lee Cecil, Hughes, Colo., and Miss Elsie M. Gearhart of Yuma."
In 1920 Sherman County Kansas Frank is 28, Edna 21, both Colorado, Allen J. 2, Fern L. ?, both Kansas, and brother Charley W. 21.
They're in Sherman County in 1930, and in Kit Carson County in 1940
Frank, August 22, 1891 - Baca County, died Sep 7, 1965, and Edna Dewey (Morris) Cecil - 1898-1987 are buried in the Armel Cemetery.
Mattie proved up two quarters in 19 and 30, 3S 48W in 1919.
Brother Samuel was probably in Denova, Washington County - a dozen miles west - at the same time.
Mattie was in Abarr precinct, Yuma County, in 1930, 58, widowed, a servant in the Charles 63 and Rosa 38, Smith family.
In 1940 she's back in Furnas County, married to John Button 64 - he said he was in Marshall Iowa in 1935, and she was in Guithrie Iowa. Next household is Ira Palmer, 33, Nebraska.....The preceding household is Earl E. 37, Nebraska. Probably nephews ...
Mrs. Paul Preston, daughter, was the informant for Mattie Ann Button death August 12, 1959 in Linn County, Oregon, burial in Forest View Cemetery, Washington County, Oregon.

Daughter is probably the Anna Romine in 1920 Cope, Washington County, Colorado, married to Ernest 19.She died March 20, 1984 in Multnomah County, Oregon, spouse Ernest. born July 19, 1900.
In 1923 Mr. and Mrs. George Cross near Joes entertained 71 relatives "at a feast fit for the gods" Among them were Harry Cecil and Family, Ernest Romine and Family, Frank Cecil and family, Mrs. Mat Cecil , .....
Geo. Gearhart had Grace September 2, 1895 and she married Clarence Cross at Imperial, Nebraska. So her sister Elsie married Harry Cecil. Another sister married John Cook of Yuma, and another married James Beverly.
Anna was the daughter of William Douglas Cecil born in 1862 and Martha Ann
Palmer (b.1871, d.1959).
She married the truck driver Ernest Allen Romine and they had 8 children.
Ernest A. Romine 1900-1953 and Anna R. Romine 1900-1984 are interred in
Riverview Abbey, Portland.

Harry Lee Cecil registered with a Hughes address, said he was born at Norcatur, Kansas August 4, 1896 and his father was born Monmouth Illinois, and he was working for Martha Ann Cecil at Hughes.
In 1920 Center precinct Harry and Elsie are together, on the same page as the George and Rose Gearhard family.
Elsie's mother's 1925 obituary said "Mrs. Harry Cecil of Goodland Kansas."
In the same area, in 1930 they have Edward 8, Jack 6, and Lee 4.
Harry L. Cecil 1896-1989 and Elsie Margaret (Gearhart) Cecil 1898-1968 - are buried in Yuma.

One tree said Ora Isabel, born Oct 10, 1893, married Jacob William Andrist in Furnas County, and she died in St. Francis, Kansas in 1912.
It also said that Charles William Cecil, born Jan 30, 1898 in Furnas County, married Luretta Faye Gerver in St. Francis De 28, 1926, and died there April 7, 1949.
