William Edward and Clara Alverta (Cromwell) Auman and son Arthur Earl Auman, Hughes

In 1880 Clay County, Indiana William E. Auman is 9, with Levi and Mahala Auman.  Also in the family is Mahala's daughter Nancy M.E. Luther, 12. (Mahala Nighton had married Jacob Luther April 18, 1861 in Clay County)  Mahala 1827-1910 is buried in Swalley Cemetery, Clay County.

William and Clara married September 28, 1890 in Nebraska.

In 1900 Fillmore County, Nebraska William E. Sept 1870 Indiana, Clara A. Dec 1871 Iowa have Aurthur July 1892 Nebraska and Bennie G. Dec 1895, Nebraska.

In 1910 West Wray, William E. Auman 38 and Clara A. 37, have Arther E. 17, Bennie C. 14, Minnie M. 4, and eight-month Glesse

1913 Center precinct "Art Auman hauled a load of lumber for a horse shed, Wednesday.  Ben Auman went to Cope last week."

Mr. Auman and son, Art, left the forepart of the week for Arkansas for a few days visit.

"A sister of Mrs. Auman's who has been visiting here for some time, left Saturday for her home in Spokane, Washington."

William proved up two quarters in sections 7 and 18, 2S 47W - a few miles northeast of Arthur's claim, in 1916.

William Edward Auman - Sep 25, 1870  - May 19, 1920 is buried in Yuma.

So the Clara Auman who married George A. Gearhart August 17, 1927 might be William's widow.

Arthur proved up two quarters in 31, 3S 48W in 1917.

He registered in Yuma, saying he was born July 15, 1892 in Geneva, Nebraska, and was married.

Bennie Clay Auman said he was born Dec 14, 1895 in Geneva Nebraska, and had a wife and children.

In 1920 Bennie, Lona, and Royce W. 3 are in Center precinct, Yuma County.

In 1930 Ben -  a carpenter for bridges - and Lena are in Trinidad, Colordo with Royce W. 13 and daughter Golden M. 7.

He's still there building bridges in 1940 - Royce is gone, and Goldean is still in school.

Bennie 1895-1978 and Lona M. Auman 1896-1977 are buried in White City cemetery Fort Pierce, Florida

M. Goldean Dickson, 86, former resident of Ft Pierce, Florida, died September 22, 2009 in North Augusta, South Carolina.
 
Mrs. Dickson was born in Yuma Colorado.
 
She was a homemaker and attended Republican Baptist Church in North Augusta, South Carolina.
 
Survivors include two sons, Benny Dickson of North Augusta, SC and Dickie Dickson of Mt. Pleasant, NC; one daughter-in-law, Marti Dickson of Edgefield, SC; one grandchild, Lori Dickson and one great grandchild, Evan Dickson. She was preceded in death by her parents Ben and Lona Barker Auman, and her son, Billy Dickson.
 
Services: A visitation will be held Sunday September 27, 2009 3-5 PM at Haisley Funeral Home. A service will be Monday September 28, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Haisley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at White City Cemetery

In 1920 Auther and Florence are in Washington County, Colorado, renting a house and farming.  They have Arlie L. 2.

In 1930 they're working on a farm - from the neighbors, it seems to be south of Yuma - with Arlie L. 12,  and Verle B. 6.

Verle Burdette Auman enrolled in the WPA from Yuma County.

Arlie Lyle Auman married Adeline Spiker March 25, 1937.  - daughter of Stephen Detwieler Spiker and Catherine Marie (Killam) Spiker. 

 Adeline died October 5, 1939 and is buried in Yuma.  Arlie Lyle  - September 2, 1917 - Dec 14, 1991 and wife Shirley are buried in East Drain Cemetery, Douglas County Oregon.

In 1951 Lebanon Oregon Arlie L. and Donna Auman were witnesses to the marriage of Verle B. Auman to Thelma J.

Arlie, 22, is widowed in 1940 Yuma

Arthur 1892-1972 and Hattie F. 1898-1989 are buried in the IOOF Cemetery, Linn County, Oregon.

Clara born December 8, 1871 in Vernon Iowa, to Henry Cromwell and Nancy Deacon, died August 13, 1961 in Lebanon Oregon.  Informant was Minnie Muller, daughter. She's also buried in the IOOF cemetery.


George A. Gearhart, 87, of Lebanon, Oregon, died at his home, May 9, 1958, following a few months of illness. His son, Charles, of Loveland who had been in the home helping care for him the past few months, accompanied the body to Yuma and arrived Tuesday.
Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church in Yuma Wednesday afternoon, May 14, at 2 o'clock with Rev. Donald W. Johnson officiating. Mrs. Amelia Yost, soloist, sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere". She was accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Gilbert Ball.
Casket bearers were John Tribbett, John Lindgren, Sam Warren, Fred Johnston, L.L. Robinson and Claude McCasland.
Interment was in the family lot in the Yuma cemetery.
George A. Gearhart, eldest son of Alonzo and Eva Gearhart was born in Jones county, Iowa, October 1, 1871 and departed this life at his home in Lebanon, Oregon, May 9, 1958.
On November 26, 1891 he was married to Rosa C. Bracelin at Marysville, Kansas, who preceded him in death May 15, 1925. To them were born three sons and four daughters; of whom only one son and one daughter are now living.
In 1914 he and his family came to Colorado and lived for a number of years on a ranch south of Yuma. In 1927 he was married to Mrs. Clara Auman at Wray. In 1921 he moved from the ranch to Yuma where he lived until ten years ago when he moved to Lebanon, Oregon.
For many years, besides his ranching activities, he operated a thresher during the fall. After moving to Yuma he owned a livestock auction for several years.
He was a member of the Presbyterian church in Lebanon and was a regular attendant until failing health made attendance impossible. He has been in failing health for the last six months and for the last three months his son, Charlie, has been with him caring for him.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at the Don Josot Funeral Home in Lebanon, Oregon, after which the body was returned to Yuma for burial.
He is survived by his aged wife, Clara, of Lebanon, Oregon, his son, Charlie of Loveland; his daughter, Mrs. Elsie Cecil of Cope; two brothers, Ira of Denver and Ernest of Fort Morgan; four stepchildren, Arthur Auman, Edward Auman and Mrs. Elmer Otta, all of Lebanon, Oregon and Ben Auman of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Also surviving are seventeen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
