John Harrison Slagle and Effie M (Rawley) Slagle,  Heartstrong

One tree says Effie was the daughter of Reuben James Rawley 1833-1908 - buried  Brewster County, Washington 42683453 and Catherine Jane Landis Juday 1846-1903.

In 1900 Doniphan County Kansas John and sister Mary F. Oct 1890 , brother Eddie Jan 1893 are with their mother Ella May 1873 Iowa and her husband Albert Eskridge June 1869 Ohio, a worker in a packing house.   Ella Eskridge 1873-1928 is buried in Concord Cemetery, Barry County, Missouri, per FindAGrave 101009619

John Slagle married Effie M. Rawley April 8, 1912 in Wray, performed by Louis  Allen, minister of the Presbyterian Church, witnessed by Peter Campbell (a courthouse employee) and C.D. Mason.

John proved up a two quarters in 12, 1S 47W in 1916, witnesses William E Smith, Artie A. McCasland, George L. Smith, and Clifton Frydendall, all of Yuma.

February 21, 1913 "Dr. Bilsborrow reports the arrival of a baby girl at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Slagle, southeast of Yuma. Tuesday."  -

He registered in Yuma County, saying he was born November 7, 1888 in Perryville, Iowa, was farming by himself with a wife and four children.

In 1920 Yuma County John is 31, Effie 33, Missouri, Myrtle E. 6, William R. 5, Mary Gladys 4, Glenn R. 2, and nine-month Esther M. all born in Colorado.

In 1930 they're in Barry County, Missouri.  Myrtle 17, William 15, M. Gladys 14, Glenn R. 13, Esther M. `11, Maxine 9, M Lucile 6, and month-old Mildred M.

Doesn't look like any remained in Yuma.

Myrtle E. Harrison age 95, of Monett, passed away Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, at Ozark Methodist Manor in Marionville. She was born Feb. 18, 1913, in Yuma, CO, and was a daughter of John Harrison and Effie May Slagle.

She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Monett. She married Robert Richard Harrison on April 7, 1934.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Wanda Yeager; two sons, Larry Wayne Harrison and Johnny Thomas Harrison; two brothers, Bill Slagle and Glen Slagle; and one sister, Gladys Brattin.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Buchanan Funeral Chapel in Monett with Rev. Pat Jeffers officiating. Visitation will be held from noon to service time on Friday at the funeral home.
