In 1895 Cheyenne County, Kansas Samuel is 16, with R.M. 43 and Harriette 33 Ness.
In 1900 Harlan County Nebraska Samuel, born February 1879 in Missouri, is a farm laborer, boarding with the Jacob Struve family in Emerson
1904 Wray "A private letter from Sam and Roy Ness, states that they are now located at Hilliard Washington and are working at the carpenter trade. The boys are getting $2.00 per day."
Minnie is with her parents William and Martha Dorman in Wray precinct in 1910.

In 1910 Yuma County Samuel J. Ness 30, Missouri and Minnie 26, Nebraska have been married four years. Sam's brother Leroy R. is farming in Morgan County, and his mother-in-law is living with them.

Samuel proved up two quarters in 23 and 24, 1S 47W in 1916.
He registered in Yuma county, saying he was born February 25, 1879, and was farming by himself.
In 1920 Samuel and Minnie are over in Washington County.
Sam's parents are in Yuma, on Warren Avenue - Robert M. Ness, 67, Maryland, is a carpenter, Harriet E. 56, Indiana, and they have an eleven-year-old daughter Mary born in Colorado. Adaline Dowling - Harriet's mother - 88, Pennsylvania, is also with them. (1900 Mary Dowling is with them- maybe a niece they adopted?) Harriet E. Ness, widowed, born Feb 1, 1861 in South Bend Indiana, died July 16, 1948 in Independence, Missouri. Her father was Hezekiah Dowlin, born in Maryland, and her mother was Adeline Hecker, born in Pennsylvania. Body was removed to Denver. Robert likely is the Robert Milton Ness dying Feb 12, 1933 in Weld County, buried Crown Hill. One tree says Mary Marie Ness was born Nov 14, 1908 in Yuma, married Ralph Stone, Sr. and died April 1981 in either Iowa or Missouri.
Harriet's nephew (Adeline's grandson) Frederick Dowling is in Yuma in 1920, too, a clerk in a confectionary. He's 23, born in Nebraska, rooming with the Allen Compton's on East Valley Avenue.

In 1930 Sam and Harriet are in Greeley, where Samuel is a carpenter, and a school teacher is lodging with them.
In 1940 they're in Denver, where Samuel is a carpenter.
Samuel died in 1952, per Crown Hill records.
February 1972 Services for Mrs. Minnie Ness, former Greeley resident, were held Monday at the Loveland Seventh-day Adventist Church. Mrs. Ness, 89, died last Thursday. For the past few years she had lived at Eden-Valley Sanitarium near Loveland. She was born Sept. 18, 1883 and was the widow of Sam Ness a Greeley carpenter while he was still alive. Survivors include three nieces : Mrs. C. C. Hyde of La Salle, Mrs. Elsye Gormly of Brighton, Mrs. William Euler of Boulder and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Luella Dorman of Denver. Several other nieces and nephews survive her. Interment was at Crown Hill Cemetery in Denver..
Mrs. Luella Dorman, 103, of Heritage House Nursing Home at Denver, died there Sunday, March 7, 1976. She was a former Greeley resident. She was born Aug. 1872, in Illinois. She was married to Arkley Dorman in Greeley. He is now deceased. They lived on 5th Street many years and after his death she was a resident of Kenton Manor Nursing Home several years. More recently she was cared for at Heritage House. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church at Greeley. Survivors include three stepsons, Luverne Dorman of Patagonia, Ariz., Dr. Eldon Dorman of Price, Utah, and Claude Dorman of Dinuba, Calif.; three nephews, Harold and Roy Dalrymple of Denver and Fearn Dalrymple of Wray, and a niece, Mrs. Ellen Gettman of Denver. Services were held Wednesday at Moore Mortuary, Denver , with interment in Crown Hill Cemetery there. Arkley is buried in Greeley 65219320.
