George and Daniel Criss,  Heartstrong

Otis G. and Grace C. Criss,  Fox

1907  Wray "O.G. Criss was over from Fox the first of the week after supplies for the Colpitts store."

1909 Wray "O.G. Criss and wife were over from Fox, Colorado Wednesday."

In 1910 Idalia precinct Otis G. and Grace P. Criss, both 25, born in Kansas, have Relle 4, Blaine 3 - both Kansas, R.D. nineteen months and Vera one month, both born in Colorado.

1912 Wray "Porter Criss, from the country west of Idalia, was doing some trading in the county capital, Tuesday."

Otis G. Criss proved up two quarters in 23, 4S 46W - one in 1912, the other in 1913.  Witnesses were Clifford C. Cox and Elijah Bohrer of Idalia and Henry M. Haworth and Fred P. Watts of Fox.

1913 Kirk items "C.B. Wolfe purchased a team of horses at the Criss sale Wednesday."

Otis Grover Criss registered in Coffey County, saying he was born March 19, 1885.

In 1920 Coffey County Kansas Otis G. and Grace C.,  have Relle E., Blaine P., R.D., Vera, Otis G. 7  and Verline J. 6

They're in Osage County, Kansas in 1930, with Relle, Blaine, R.D., Vera, Glen O., Verlin J.

Otis -1885-1940 and Grace S. (Porter) Criss  1885-1963 are buried in Melvern Cemetery, Osage County.

So are Otis' parents Rezin Criss 1856-1925 and Jennie S. Criss 1867-1953.

In 1870 Riley County Kansas George 35 and Heston 33 Criss have eight kids, with Washington being one month old.

In 1880 Washington County Kansas George 50 and Hester 30 (sic) CHRIST have Alice 20, Andrew 19, Catherine 15, Henry 14, Mary 12, Washington 10, Samantha 8, Daiel (sic) 5, and Hester's mother Sarah Asher 62..

In 1895 Clay County, Kansas Daniel Criss 20, and Washington 25, are with George 63 and Hester 56 Criss.

In 1900 Decatur County Kansas Dan "Crist" born May 1874, is a boarder with Ralph and Emma Huddle family.

But in 1900 Decatur County Dan May 1873 and George "Crist" May 1871- brothers in law, both farm laborers, are with Orva and Samantha Simpson.

George Sep 1831 Indiana and Hester Feb 1837 Indiana CHRIST are in Clay County, Kansas in 1900

One tree said Daniel CRIST married Caroline Koehn October 20, 1900 in Oberlin, Kansas, and that his mother was Hester Asher, born February 1837 in Indiana, and died Aug 31, 1903 in Vining Washington County Kansas.

James HOCKETT. ... 24 Jul 1906 in Decatur County, Kansas a bride named Caroline Crist.  There's a Caroline married to James W. Hockett in 1910 Decatur County Kansas - 34, one child. Vera Hockett 9 born in Colorado is James' stepdaughter, and Dale 3 is his son.  Caroline is buried in Yakima Washington  61032598

Maybe the James Hockett in 1900 Decatur County, born Jan 1880 in Kansas, married to Rosa Oct 18882, and David March 1900.

So it's possible that Daniel married in 1900, had Vera in Colorado, then divorced.

This tree also says sister Sarah Alice Crist born 1859 in Iowa, died 1950 in Denver - sister Catharine born 1864 died Nov 27, 1932 in Denver - - possibly came through Yuma.

1910 - George is living along in Yuma County, 38, Kansas, a farmer,  single, on Railroad Street in Yuma.

 George proved up two quarters in 6 and 7, 1S 47W in 1916.  -

In 1920 and 1930 he's still living alone, but by the neighbors he's living south of Yuma. 

1915 - Yuma County paid D.C. Criss $15.84 for work on roads.

Daniel registered in Yuma County, saying he was born May 20, 1874, farmed by himself, and George was his nearest relative.

George is in the 1937 directory, 8S 2-1/2E 1/2S Yuma, Rt. 2, Yuma, O. Farmer.  Daniel is not listed.

In 1940 George and Daniel are together in Yuma County

George -May 6 1870 - November 14, 1948 and Daniel -May 20, 1874 - February 27, 1943 are buried in the Yuma Cemetery.
