, NE. His father was John Dudgeon and mother, Elizabeth. My maternal grandmother, Belle Cora Winslow born 15 APR 1866 d 1938, was married to James W. Dudgeon. They had 1 son, James Walter Dudgeon born 2 SEP 1890 in Friend NE died 5 JUL 1968 in Englewood, CO. After her husbands death, Belle married Thomas Fidel Heitzman born APR 1866 died 1943. They had 3 children. The youngest born in 1909 was my mother, Lona Belle Heitzman Courtney. I had grown up hearing that grandmother's first husband had been a sheriff in Nebraska and was killed in the line of duty when their son was only a baby. James Walter Dudgeon married Lydia Jacoba Schmits and had 4 children. Herbert born in 1916 possibly in Montana, Jean L Dudgeon born 1918, Richare E. Dudgeon born 23 APR 1921 possibly in Montana, died 4 JUL 2004 Denver, CO. no info on 4th child. Most of what you say is true; however, in working with a gal from
Friend, Saline County ,Nebraska...I was told that there is no record of
James dying in Nebraska, but instead in Friend, Arapahoe [now Yuma]
County, Colorado...unfortunately, there is no Friend in Colorado now.
James and 3 friends apparently stopped in Friend, NE, as James' parents
lived there in 1880,and died there in Friend, Turkey Creek Twp,
