Yuma County Pioneer Photographs:

Orrin H. Cotton, Friend

In 1880 Orren Cotton is in Saline County, Nebraska (where the town of Friend had a number of people moving to Friend, Colorado).  He's 13, with Charles P. 58 and Mira G. 50 Cotton, and Maudie L. 7.

Andrew Cemetery has a stone "Charles P. Cotton 1823-1897 - his wife Myra G. 1830-1903"

There's a stone in the same section of Andrew with "Orrin H. Cotton -1866-1943"

Orrin cash-claimed a quarter in 28, 4S 45W in 1891 - the same time period where a number of cash claims were made in the south part of the township.

In 1900 Orrin Cotton is a house mover in Gothenburg, Nebraska,  born August 1865 in Wisconsin, married 10 years to Marie, January 1853 Wisconsin, with Vera Jan 1882, Nebraska.

In 1910 Oren Cotton, a "dealer in Lay" is still in Gothenberg, with Minnie and Vera, now 18.

In 1920 "Orn" is proprietor of a garage in Gothenburg, with Minnie and Vera - no occupation.

In 1930 Gothenburg Orin H. "Catton" runs a filling station.  He and Minnie have divorced daughter Vera Davis, a saleslady in dry goods, and her son Jack Davis, 5.

In 1940 Gothenburg Orrin H. is 74, owning a garage.  He and Minnie were in the same house in 1935.  With them is daughter Vera J. Davis, divorced, with her son Jack H. Davis, 15, born in Kansas.
