Sep 1890, Catherine Sep 1892, and Copia Jan 1898 - these four in Kansas. They follow the S.D. Langmade - Apr 1830 New York, widower, his daughter Louise Apr 1873, and G.E. Bigelow July 1886 New York - step-grandson.

Langmaid, 302 East 3rd St., when two couples of young people from Oberlin, Kansas, were united in marriage. The contracting parties were Mr. Nathan C. Watson and Miss Florence Cathcart; Mr. Elmer P. McKinzie and Miss Ethel Bystrom. Rev. Louis Hieb of the Congregational church was the officiating clergyman. After an elaborate dinner served by Mrs. Langmaid, who is a sister of the newly made Mrs. Watson, the happy couples left for Oberlin. Mr. and Mrs. McKinzie will make their home on a ranch near Oberlin, which Mr. and Mrs. Watson after visiting near Oberlin will go to Pine Bluff, Wyo., where Mr. Watson is in business. In 1910 Decatur County Jennie is widowed, and with her are Forrest, a laborer, Gertrude teaching, Reuben a laborer, Catherine, and Copia.
It doesn't look like any of his siblings came to Yuma County.
Forrest proved up 320 acres in 18 and 19, 3S 46W in 1917.
In 1920 he's in Cheyenne County, Kansas, married to Gladys R., 32, born in Kansas. She's probably the Gladess Newell in 1910 Rawlins County, Kansas, daughter of Oscar and Ella Newell.
In 1940 Forrest and Gladys are in Arapaho County near Denver, living on West Walsh Avenue. They said they were in Sherman County Kansas in 1935. He's a painter at an iron works.
1917 Wray "Forest Langmaid from near the former Fox postoffice, was transacting business in Wray this week."
Forrest 1883 -1942 is buried in Fairmount, Denver. SSDI has Gladys born September 8, 1887, dying November 1967, last residence Denver.
Copia Lockard, 99, died
March 9 at Heritage Health Care Center. She was born in Decatur
County, Kansas, a daughter of George Strong Langmaid and
Sara Jane ''Jennie'' Knight. She graduated from high
school in Oberlin, Kan., in 1916, and attended normal
school.
She married Francis Dawes Lockard, who died in 1973. Mrs. Lockard taught in one-room schools for eight years. She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church, and had been active in the United Methodist Women. Her special interests included gardening and writing poetry. She moved to Arizona in 1985 to be near her family. Survivors include two daughters, Naomi Smith of Globe and Donna Sciascia of Brunswick, Maine; a son, David Lockard of Globe; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Memorial services were held Thursday in Globe. Burial will be in Newton, Kan. Arrangements are by Lamont Mortuary of Globe. (Portland Press Herald, March 17, 1997, page 5B) |
