August 1912 " B. J. Lewis went down to Mildred last week and helped build a store room for our mail carrier, Archie Kindred."
August 15, 1912 " Our mail carrier, Archie Kindred has been hauling lumber this week from Eckley to his home in Mildred. He intends building an addition on his house and pulling in a stock of groceries. Archie has taken a wise step and will make a big success of it as this is what that country needs."

December 1914 "The sale at Archie Kindred's was fairly well attended and things sold fairly well ."
August 26, 1915 "Dr. Stork also visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Kindred of Mildred leaving a beautiful baby girl."

Archie proved up a quarter in 2, 3S 46W in 1916



Archie Kindred was the postmaster at Mildred for four years.
January 1917 "Archie Kindred of Mildred passed through Vernon on Friday of last week enroute home from Wray with a Tin Lizzie which he purchased in the county seat."

February 1917 " Archie Kindred and Pearl Stanbrough, two of Mildred's foremost merchants, were Vernon callers on Monday of this week."

Archie J. registered in Yuma County, born Aug 13, 1888 in Saline Missouri.


He's buried in Mildred, per # 14541467.

Oct 1888 Missouri, Horace B. May 1890 Kansas, Charles A. Mar 1895 Missouri, Alberta Feb 1897 Missouri, and Sylva E. Sep 1899 Iowa.

"William J." and Emily are in Vernon precinct in 1910, with Mary, 22, James 20, Minnie 17, Andrew 15, Alberta 13, Sylvia 10, and Carl 5.

James Addison Kindred registered in Yuma County, born May 6, 1889, single, working for Mrs. Josie E. Prather.




February 16, 1917 John Kindred of Happyville was a witness for the claim of Jacob Hagan for land in 2S 47W.

December 20, 1918 "Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Kindred, of south of Yuma, received a message Tuesday that their daughter, Mrs. John Flanagan, had died that morning at ther home at Pleasanton, Iowa. This is Mary Rebecca 1887-1918.

Iowa cemetery records show Mary R. Flanagan - January 10, 1887-Dec 17, 1918 buried in Hamilton Cemetery, Pleasanton, "Mrs. Ben" # 6335522.

Ben then married Minnie Sophia 1893-1998, # 97570543.


In 1920 Yuma County, John W. Kindred is 62, born in Missouri, Emily C. 56 Indiana, Alberta 23 Missouri, James A. 20 Kansas, and Earl C. 15 Missouri (Next household is Samuel Hagan).

John 1858-1950 is buried in Decatur County, Iowa

October 28, 1915 "Mr. and Mrs. Sherm Kindred, of Center precinct, are the proud parents of a dainty little baby girl who arrived to bless them on Thursday, October 21st."

John's son William S. Kindred proved up two quarters in 18 and 19, 2S 47W in 1917, about two miles from John's claim.

William Sherman Kindred 1885-1972 is buried in Decatur County, Iowa, with Elsie 1888-1938.

In 1930 Yuma County, Alberta is married to Frank Jacobs 39, and they have Consuela 8, Kansas, Eugene 6, Missouri, and Patricia 4 Kansas.

Alberta Kindred Jacobs 1897-1991 is buried in Salem, Oregon # 71550315.

James Addiston Kindred 1889-1962 is buried in Fort Rosecrans # 43405483.

Carl married Helen E. Rockhold of Wayne County, Iowa, daughter of Oliver and Veva Rockhold, in Decatur County Iowa in 1925.
In 1940 Helen is married to Claude C. Dickerson, with five Kindred children.

In 1930 John is back in Decatur County, Iowa, widowed, living with son William S. 44 and Elsie F. 41.

John and Emma, per one record, are buried in Hamilton cemetery, Decatur County,  Emma has a FindAGrave listing

Sylvia Elsie Kindred was born Sept 1, 1899 at Pleasanton, Iowa to John W. Kindred and Emily K. Weddle, dying as Dunaforn May 27, 1996.
September 21, 1917 "Paul A. Dunafon, of Yuma and Miss Sylvia A. Kindred, of Happyville wer united in marriate in Wray on Tuesday by County Judge I. L. Barker."
May 10, 1918 "Mr. and Mrs. Paul Dunafon and Miss Minnie Kindred returned on the early morning train Monday from several weeks stay at Rochester, Minnesota."

In 1900 Decatur County, Iowa, John W. Kindred is 41, Emma C. 37, Sarah E. 16, William S. 14, Mary R. 11, Horace B. 10, Minnie S. 7, Chas A. 5, Alberta 3, and Sylva six months.

In 1910 Yuma County, "William" Kindred is 51, Emily 46, with Mary 22, James 20, Minnie 17, Andrew 13, Alberta 13, Sylvia 10, and Carl 3, the last four born in Missouri.

February 5, 1914 "Mrs. Kindred is home again.
Sylvia Kindred and Florence Helmer are on the sick list at present.
Mr Donafon has traded out his hotel at Yuma and is back on the farm. Paul Donafon left Friday for York, Nebraska, where he will attend school. Minnie Kindred has returned home from Yuma. where she has been working all summer. "
John W. Kindred proved up two quarters in 9, 2S 47W in 1917.

March 1914 "Jim Kindred has accepted a position with John Botkin over near Vernon."

JAMES

James and Rhea F. are in Mercer County, Missouri in 1930, and Rhea's father Warren J. Butler is with them.  In 1940 they're in Springfield, Missouri.

James Addison Kindred died Oct 8, 1962 in Los Angeles County, mother's maiden name Weddle,  and is buried at Fort Rosecrans, San Diego, 43405483  with a FindAGrave listing of Rhea Flossie (Butler) Kindred 1898 -1983.

WILLIAM


In 1910 Yuma County, William Kindred is 26, married three years to Ina F. 22, both born in Kansas. She's had one child, none living.

William W. Kindred proved up a quarter in 21, 1N 48W in 1913 - that was about five miles south of Yuma.
February 2, 1917 - "Mrs. W. W. Kindred was summoned to Smith Center, Kansas, Wednesday night by a message announcing the death of a sister.

"In February 1917, through the efforts of Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Kindred, Rev D.I. Vanderpool held a revival meeting at Bethany, six miles south of Yuma. As a result, they organized a Church of the Nazarene, and called Rev. E.O.. Walden to be their pastor. The group moved into Yuma in 1919, and built a wooden tabernacle in October 1919, just south of the Ford Garage.
William S. Kindred and Elsie F. Hutchison had Mildred Irene Kindred Oct 21, 1915 in Wray, and she died Nov 21, 1992.

William W. Kindred, of Mildred, Colorado, was a witness to the claim of Oscar Matls of Mildred for land in18, 4S. 47W in 1917.

"Wesley" W. and Ina are back in Smith County, Kansas in 1920, with Melvin 8, and Irene 5.
Melvin Dawayne Kindred, born Jan 19, 1911 in Colorado, died October 23, 1998 in Washington County, Oregon, spouse Hazel.


Irene Rosetta (Kindred) Grothaus 1913-1995 is buried in Smith County.

Wm S. Kindred proved up two quarters in 18 and 19, 2S 47W in 1917 - next to John and Mary Jane Dunafon claims.

William Sherman Kindred registered in Yuma County, born Nov 19, 1885, nearest relative Elsie Kindred.

In 1920 Yuma County William 34, born in Kansas,  and Elsie F. 33, born in Missouri, have Bertha O., 13, Clarence O 11, Thelma F. 8, - those three born in Iowa -  Mildred I. 4, Wilma 2, and Evylyn D. newborn. the last three in Colorado

LEVI

In 1910 Vernon precinct Levi M. 27, and Sophia 26, have Audie M. 5, Hazel N. 3, and Helen L. 1, all five born in Missouri.

Levi M. Kindred proved up 320 acres in 2, 3, and 10, 3S 46W in 1913.

Levi Murrel (Mearl)  Kindred registered in Wayne County, Iowa, born July 28, 1882, was farming, and nearest relative was Sopha Eliza Kindred of Linvell, Wayne County -

CHARLES

Charles Andres Kindred registered in Yuma County, born March 10, 1895 in Saline Missouri, farming for Joseph Koba, single.

ALBERTA

Alberta married Francis Wesley "Frank" Jacobs - they're in Abarr in 1930 and 1940, and both are buried in City View, Salem, Oregon.

HANNAH

Hannah, per one tree, married Samuel Hiram Hagan in Decatur County Mar 11, 1900, and died April 13, 1963 in Harrison County, Missouri.

Samuel proved up two quarters in 4 and 5, 2S 47W in 1920 - joining John Kindred's and Jacob Hagan.'s

Hannah Elizabeth Kindred Hagan - Jan 8, 1882 - April 13, 1963 - and Samuel are buried in Lloyd Cemetery, Harrison County, Missouri.

SYLVIA

Sylvia Elsie Kindred born Sep 1, 1899, died May 27, 1996 in Oregon.  She married Paul Alvin Dunafon  September 11, 1927 in Wray.  He was  born May 1896 - died Nov 8, 1972 in Oregon.

CARL

In 1930 Carl is back in Decatur County, 25, born in Missouri married to Helen E. 22, born in Iowa.  They have Ruby H. 3 Missouri, Norma L. 2, Colorado, and Billy O., three months, Iowa.

Carl C. Kindred married Helen E. Rockhold in Decatur County December 2, 1925. - one tree said she had been married to Claud Dickerson.  (in 1940 Decatur County Helen E. is married to Claude C. Dickerson, with three kids - AND Ruby H. Kindred 13, Norma L. Kindred 12, Billy O. Kindred 9, and Kathryne D. Kindred, 6.

 Celebration of life services will be held 1:30 pm Tuesday, May 18th at the Jones Eden Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Bickhart officiating. Visitation will begin noon Monday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 Monday evening. Interment will take place at the Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth, Iowa. Memorials have been established for the First Christian Church or the M.L. McCreedy Home. Helen was born September 28, 1907 in Lineville, Iowa the daughter of Oliver and Venealia Rockhold. She attended school in the Lineville area. On April 20, 1935 she was united in marriage to Claude C. >Dickerson in Bethany, Missouri. She was previously married to Roger Kindred.

Helen lived most of her life in the Washington and Ainsworth areas. She was a homemaker and her family was her top priority. Later in life she worked at the Washington County Hospital until her retirement. Helen loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and gardening. She enjoyed spending time with her family and playing the guitar.

She is survived by ten children including daughter Ruby Leichty and husband Bob of Guttenberg, Iowa; daughter Norma Stutzman and husband Hubert of Willard, Missouri; son Bill Kindred and wife Judy of McGregor, Iowa; son Carl Kindred and wife Lou of Willard, Missouri; daughter Kathryn Ahrens of Quincy, Illinois; daughter Jean Black of Washington, Iowa; daughter Maggie Elliott and husband Bob of Iowa City, Iowa; son Paul Dickerson and wife Nancy of Muscatine, Iowa; daughter Lois Drayfahl and husband Jim of Ainsworth, Iowa; son Gary Dickerson of Denver, Colorado; as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren

 



OMER


Omer Kindred married Gladys Clawson Feb 1, 1914, recorded in Yuuma County.
Omer Carl Kindred registered for WWI with a Mildred address, bor nDec 16, 1890 at Saline, Missouri.farming, married.

July 1924 "Mrs. Omer Kindred has been visiting her father B.H. Clawson and other relatives during the past few days.
When Ben Clawson died in 1941, a daughter Gladys Kindred was living in Yakima, Washington.

In 1930 Pueblo Colorado, Omer C. Kindred is a barber, 39, born in Missouri, married but no spouse, in a small rooming house.

April 1931 "Mr. Kindred, of Pueblo, is visiting with his sons, Carl and Andy at the Ben J. Clawson home.

In 1935 Pueblo, Omer is a barber working for C.F. Hartman, living at 1516 W. 14th. Lloyd A (Sylvia) Kindred, a washman for Colorado Laundry Company, live at the same address.

In 1939, the Bethany church anniversary included a message from Mr. and Mrs. Wes Kindred of Silverton, Oregon.

March 1945

Omer Carl Kindred died March 5, 1957 and is buried in Pueblo, per # 111873781.

July 13, 1906
. Levi Eastin, W. G. Eastin and Mrs. N.E. Kindred, who have been visiting their son and brother, J. C. Eastin, southwest of Vernon, departed yesterday evening for their home at Saline, Missouri. Mr. Eastin and son called on the Gazette, and expressed themselves as very much pleased with what they had seen of Yuma county."

August 27, 1909
Levi Eastin, living southwest of Vernon, died at his home last Saturday, August 21, 1909, and the funeral services were held at the Christian church the following afternoon, Aug. 22, at 3 o clock, Rev. Davld Foreman officiating. The deceased was the aged father of J.C. and N.P. Eastin, who are old settlers In Yuma county. He came west a little over a year ago and filed on a homestead on which he was living at the time of his death. Besides the above mentioned sons, he is survived by another son, C. W. Eastin, and by three daughters, Mrs. Maggie Kindred, Mrs. Nannie Henson and Miss Mary Eastin. These came to Colorado about the time their father did and settled in the same community. His wife had preceded hlm in death some thirty years ago. The family have the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement.



Carl Kindred 1904-1988 is buried in Albany, Oregon # 31738245, with Velam 1909-1982.

D. B. Kindred, who had been visiting his brother W.W. Kindred, some five miles south of Yuma, for a short time, departed for his home at Smith Center, Kansas, Saturday evening."

Charles Kindred married Ethel Slover March 3, 1920, recorded in Yuma County.

February 1920 "Andy Kindred has moved onto the W.E. Helton place, recently purchased by Matt Harr." The Enos Helton's moved to Vernon, where they took charoge of their store, recently purchased of R.HH. Yount.
May 1921 "Mr. and Mrs. Andy Kindred visited at the home of the latter's brother Carl Slover."
