The 1880 Holt County census has Ebeneser Williams 58, Ohio, farming, married to Agnus, 43, Pennsylvania.

In 1900 Harrison County, Missouri Agnes Williams, born February 1837, widowed, said she had no children.

1917 "Miss Lela Williams has closed out a very successful term of school at Monticello" "Miss Gladys Hall and Agnes Williams spent Friday visiting Miss Lela Williams' school at Monticello."

The 1910 census of Harrison County has an Agnes married to Edward Post- one tree said they married September 6, 1904, that Agnes was born February 1837 in Indiana County, Pennsylvania. and died June 8, 1922 in Harrison County.

"Eddie" Post died February 17, 1918 in Harrison County, Agnes, wife, living in Blythedale, was the informant

Agnes' death certificate -a June 8, 1922 in Harrison County, said her father was Labin Liget, and her mother's maiden name was Bistten, and she was buried in Cedar Hill cemetery. Informant was Mrity Hunsecker (a niece - Agnes' sister Belinda married a Hunsicker, and Myrtle was one child)

The tree says Agnes Liggett was born February 7, 1837, and married John Elliott (possibly the John H. Elliott in Stafford Cemetery, Harrison County - April 25, 1842 -December 10, 1875 - but I really doubt if this is the one the tree mentions. In 1870 Indiana County Pennsylvania an Agnes Elliott 33 is married to John Elliott 37, next to Robert Ligatt - who later moved to Kansas - born about 1827) The tree also says Agnes married an Andrew Kendall in the 1890's......

Agnes Leggat is in the 1850 Indiana County Pennsylvania with John, 54 and Margaret 53. They have Balinda 19, Ann 17, and Agnes 13, all born in Pennsylvania,

Josiah J. Evans and Ebenezer Williams each cash-claimed a quarter in Section 4, 4N 46W in 1891.

Jesse A. and Jonathan Williams each "tree-claimed" a quarter about three miles southwest of Ebenezer.

Jonathan's, having conveyed that quarter in 1886 for a note to Alex Meyer, was sold in 1901 at the courthouse steps in Yuma. (the Meyer family owned that land from then until 2009, when it was sold at auction)

Jesse A. had cash-claimed a quarter in 3N 48W in 1891 (same year as Ebenezer) and a homestead in 3N 48W next to it in 1895.

Joseph H. Williams had a homestead next to it in 1894. Joseph had a cash claim in 1890 in 3N 47W, adjoining Jerome G. Williams' 1891 cash claim. There's a Jerome G. Williams that had an 1895 homestead next to an 1895 "tree-claim" forty miles south in 5S 46W

Not too far away, in 5S 48 W (between Cope and Joes) James R. Williams got a quarter on a cash claim, also in 1891. Next to him, but in 1914, was a homestead of Harry Williams, and then a 1914 homestead of Charles T. Williams. A little north, Leander Williams homesteaded a quarter in 1895, but he possibly is not related.

A few miles east, in 5S 45W, Wm. H. Williams got a quarter on a cash claim in 1894. and a little northeast in 2S 45W Willie H. Williams got two quarters on a homestead - also in 1914

In 1880 Starke County, Indiana is a Joseph H. Williams, 32, married to Maggie E. 31. They have Oscar R. 10, Willie H. 7, and five-month son L.E..

In 1900 Brush, Colorado Maggie, born June 1847 is widowed. Leo E. is living with her

In 1910 Scotts Bluff, Nebraska there's a M.E. Williams, 58, widowed, born in Indiana, three children living out of eight. With her is Leo E. 28, Indiana, machinist on a threshing machine.

Joseph H. Williams in the Brush cemetery is the same one. And the Maggie Williams dying September 22, 1926 - age 72 is his wife.

Next household in the 1900 Brush census is Wm. Williams, born September 1872 in Illinois, married to Jennie April 1878 in Colorado. . Both Leo and William are well borers. Jennie might be the Jennie Kinsey in 1885 Weld County, daughter of J.P and Ennis Kinsey.

In 1910 W.H. and Jennie A. are farming in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska. Elva L. 9, Charles E. 6, and Wm. Oscar 4 al born in Colorado.

In 1920 They're in Torrington , Wyoming, where William is a well driller. Charles and William O are with them

In 1930 Denver William H. Williams is 54 and "Anna" 51 Nebraska. Daughter Irma 23 Colorado is with them.

In 1940 William and Jennie in Los Angeles, saying they were there in 1935. William is a furniture dealer, and Jennie assists in selling.

California Death Index has William Henry Williams, born September 6, 1872 in Illinois, dying May 6, 1959 in Los Angeles. Mother's maiden name was Masterson.

In 1880 McPherson County Kansas there's a J.R. Williams, 26 Ohio, married to R.R. 18 Ohio. They have George W. 1, and J.G. Williams 22 Ohio is living with them.

And in 1900 Comanche County Kansas is James R. 40, Rachel R. 40, George 21, Maud M. 18 Nebraska, Anna 16, Robert E. 13, Eva 11, Wilber W. 7, Angeline 6, Octava 5, and Lydia 1.

Mrs. J. R. Williams, who had been a resident of Comanche County for about 32 years, and who was one of our highly esteemed citizens, died at 1:20 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, 1925, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R. R. McAdoo, in Kinsley, Kans., after a lingering illness. For about seven years she had been an invalid, and during much of that time had been bedfast. Her long illness and protracted suffering was borne with that degree of patience and fortitude which characterizes the genuine Christian. The end came to her as a welcome relief. She was in every way prepared to go, for her faith and her trust in Christ as her Savior had long been a constant possession.
The body was brought to this city for burial. The services were conducted from the Christian church at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, and were in charge of the pastor, Rev. E. H. Murray. Burial was made in Crown Hill cemetery by the side of her husband, whose death occurred on September 3, 1908.

Mrs. Williams was a native of Ohio, having been born on November 11, 1860, at Roundhead, Harding County., that state. Her maiden name was Irene Rachel Rebecca Martin. In the year 1879, while yet a resident of Ohio, she was united in marriage with J. R. Williams. Not long after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Williams moved to Kansas settling in McPherson County, where they lived for about seven years. They moved from there to Nebraska, where they lived for about three years, after which they made their home in Yuma County, Colo., for nearly 12 years, coming from there to this county in the year 1893. For about 10 years they lived in or near Protection, then moved to Coldwater, where the family continued to make their home.

Mrs. Williams was the mother of 13 children - seven girls and six boys. Two of the children, Robert E. Williams and Mrs. Lydia McAdoo, preceded her in death. The surviving children are : Mrs. Eugene Barnes of Florence, Colo.; Mrs. Anna Monroe of Boise, Ariz.; Mrs. R. R. McAdoo of Kinsley, Kans.; Mrs. Eva Rutledge of Oswego, Kans.; Mrs. Dave Morris of Las Animas, Colo.; Mrs. Claude Mains of Coy, Okla.; Will W. Williams of Wichita; and George, James, David and Lawrence Williams of this city.

Deceased had been a member of the Christian church of this city for about 14 years, and up to the time her health began to fail, she was an active member in the church. She was always interested, not only in her own family, but also in those about her. She was quiet and unassuming, yet faithful in all her obligations to her family and to her church. She was, in short, a good mother and a splendid Christian woman. At the time of her death, Mrs.. Williams was 64 years, 4 months and 22 days of age. The bereaved family have the sincere sympathy of all.

Rachel R. is widowed in 1910 Comanche County. She has George 31, Robert E. 23, William W. 19, Dolly A. 16, Octavia L. 14, Lydia M. 11, Bessie E. 8 James 5, Charles D. 3, and Lawrence L. 2. The three oldest sons are "well borers."

Maude M. has married Eugene Barnes, probably. In 1910 Comanche County they have four kids.

Jerome Granville Williams (son of Ebenezer Williams and Sarah Shoemaker) was born November 27, 1857 in Hardin County OH, and died 1937 in Ft Steilacoom, Tacoma, WA. He married Mariah Snook on June 13, 1882 in Haigler NB, daughter of Henry Bell Snook and Nancy Ann Doty.

Marie S. Sheridan was the daughter of Henry B. and Nancy A. (Doty) Snook. She was born July 28, 1869.

She married Charles M. Sheridan, a veteran of the Spanish American War. They became members of the Washington Veterans' Home in 1930. Mr. Sheridan died in 1933. She indicated she had been married prior to Mr. Sheridan but that he was not a veteran.

Mrs. Sheridan left the Home in July 1947 and was re-admitted on November 12, 1947. She died October 25, 1958 while on furlough from the Home. she listed Earl Williams of East Stanwood, Washington as her next of kin/friend.

In 1900 Gilpin County there's a miner Jonathan Williams, born Nov 1851 in Ohio , teamster brother Jerome Nov 1857 in Ohio, and Earl J. Nephew October 1892 in Ohio. Next house is miner Jesse Williams February 1849 in Ohio.

Moved to Gilpin, the fall of 1897 Papa and Mama parted on Sunday August 6, 1898. Birdie, Hazel, Mama and myself went to Wymore, Nebraska date in August 1898, where we went to school until Spring.

Birdie, Hazel, Aunt Nellie and myself went to Gilpin in June 1899, where I stayed with Papa. Hazel and Birdie went back to Wymore, NB where they stayed for almost three years, and came with Mama out to Gilpin and at that time Mama and Papa divorced. All went to Boulder and stayed with Mama.

Went to school for two years, then went to the BelleLenox Nursery, at Denver for nine months, then back to Boulder, then to Elbert, CO with Papa and his well drilling. Stayed at Elbert and went to school until Christmas, then to Denver, where I worked at Daniels and Fishers Store Company for six months. Went to Buffalo Park for two months with Joe Snook, then to Elbert with Papa to Calhan, that Winter and we three kept house and went to school.

Mama was married to Charles M Sheridan on January 1, 1905. I went to Pueblo in the Spring with Papa, where I stayed and went to school that Winter. Worked in D.C. Bell until July, then to Colorado Springs, and worked for the Park Company, until Fall. then went to work for N.W. Hass, Plumbing Company until April 6, 1908. I left and went to Elbert and Fondas, then to Calhan and Kirk, where we farmed until March 19, 1909, where Papa bought a hardware store.

I worked on the Bridge and Bldg. Dept of the C.B. & Q. Railroad until September 4, 1909. Started to school at Haigler, Nebraska and went until May 9, 1910. Left Haigler on May 11, 1910, went to McCook, NB. Started work on B & B Dept of C. B. & Q Railroad on Friday, May 13, 1910. Also worked on C & S RR and D & R G, B&B Dept. until August 30, 1910. Went to Haigler, NB until Sept 4, then to Grand Island, NB, where I attended school until April 8, 1911.

In Wymore, Gage County Nebraska 1900 Maria S. Williams is widowed, 31, born in Iowa. She has Birdie J. , Earle J 7 and Madelin H. 3.

One tree says Jesse married Miranda Williams. In 1910 Boulder there's Miranda, 46 Ohio, saying she's married but no husband listed. She has Ernest L. 23 Illinois, Pearl G. 20 Indiana, Jessie Snow 16 Indiana.

Ernest Lee Williams registered for WWI in Denver, saying he was born August 27, 1874, and was an attorney But that's three years off from the census.

1921 Millinery Trade Review "Flora Hobbs has succeeded to Jessie Snow Williams shop in Sterling."

In 1940 Denver Miranda, 89, widowed, born Indiana, has daughter Jessie S. 57, Indiana, and son Ernest L., 65, widowed, born Illinois, a lawyer.

Has to be the 1920 Haigler Nebraska hardware merchant Jerome G. Williams, divorced, boarding with Andrew and Clara Holtz. Earl J., 17, born Colorado is with them.

In 1930 Logan County Ohio a divorced Jerome Williams, 72, is farming. Brother Jonathan 78 is living with him. They were also there in 1920 - (index has "Williamson")

There's a Jessy A. Williams 31 Ohio teaching school in 1880 Pulaski County, Indiana, married to Mirand, 27. They have Earnest 6 and Pearly 4. Both kids born in Illinois.

In 1910 Gilpin County is a Jesse A. Williams, 62, Ohio, saying he was married. Brother Jonathan 58 is living with him. Almost certainly he's the Jesse A. Williams in the Colorado State Veterans Center at Homelake Cemetery, Monte Vista, Colorado, "Co A. 183 Ohio Inf." dying in 1919.

Daughter Pearl - per one tree, married William Fry, and they're in Carbon County Wyoming in 1910. In 1920 Pearl is widowed, in Denver, with Elmore 17 and Marguerite 15..

In 1930 she's divorced, in Saguache, Colorado (not too far from Jesse's burial). She has Elinor, a high school teacher.

In 1940 she's in Albuquerque, widowed, boarding with Dora Thompson - single, about the same age.

In 1900 Jonathan, born November 1851, is mining in Gilpin County - Jerome 42 - a teamster - and Earl J. 7 are with him. Jesse is next line on the census.

In 1910 Jonathan is with Jesse in Gilpin County, Colorado. Both are gold miners.

This may be a cousin of Ebenezer - same area and time of birth in Ohio, and then right next door in Harrison County, Missouri

Joseph L. Hunsicker was born in Perry, Ohio, May 9, 1821. He went
with his parents to Pickaway County, Ohio, and later married Margaret
Hedges, born at Circleville in Pickaway County, Ohio, June 7, 1820. They
moved to Clark County, Illinois, where they lived until 1857. On Septem-
ber 24th of that year they moved to Harrison County and located in
Marion Township, where they remained for three years and then moved to
Hamilton Township. Mr. Hunsicker retired from active farm life and
moved to Eagleville. He died at Pawnee, October 24, 1903, and his wife
died June 23, 1901. Their remains are buried in the Masonic Cemetery at
Eagleville. To their union six children were born: Margaret, widow of
Bassett T. Mallett, now living at Pawnee; C. B., the subject of the present
review; James H. and Martha E., twins, now deceased; Jacob, a resident
of Indianola, Iowa; and Nemona, married to W. H. Payne of Mulhull,
Oklahoma.

Although there's no documentation that Ebenezer's stepson was ever in Yuma, I thought his obituary was interesting

Obituary

Robert Liggatt was born Dec. 20, 1824, in Indiana County, Penn. He lived with his parents until 1847 when he went to Illinois and in 1850, crossed the plains to Sacramento, Cal., returning in 1860 to Pennsylvania. He was united in marriage to Miss Susanna McDowell Oct. 2, 1861. To this union were born 15 children, 9 girls and 6 boys, 2 of whom preceded their father to the great beyond.

In 1864 he responded to his country’s call for volunteers, uniting with the army from which he received an honorable discharge in 1865, at which time he returned to his family in Pennsylvania, residing there until the year of 1876 at which time he moved to Harrison County, Mo., moving to a farm northeast of Muscotah two years later.

He moved to the city of Muscotah 21 years ago where they have lived ever since. His last illness has covered a period of 2 years, 17 months of which he has been confined to his bed. He has been very patient through all his suffering which at times has been very great and although not a member of the church was quite a bible reader and a firm believer in its teachings.

He leaves to mourn his loss a wife and thirteen children. They are Mrs. Vermillion, of Neb., Mrs. J. S. Ache, Mrs. Maude Carrico, of Atchison; Mrs. T. F. Cox, Mrs. George Cooper, Miss Goldie Liggatt and Mrs. John Terry, of Muscotah, Henry, Frank, Sam and Robert, of Muscotah, and Tom, of Atchison. He also leaves 37 grand children and 11 great grand children. His only sister left is Mrs. E. D. Post, who lives in Harrison County, Mo. He answered the last great call at about 6 o’clock a.m., April 27, 1914, at the age of 89 years, 4 mo. and 7 days.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist church, conducted by Elder Sweany, assisted by Rev. Fisher.
