In 1930 Weld precinct, Deane D. Johnston is 25 Head, Gladys E. Johnston 20 Wife, Raymond R. Johnston 2 Son, Frank W. Marshall 17 Brother-in-law, and Mirian F. West 21 Lodger, a teacher, born in Colorado.

Dean's sisters had attended the Pleasant Valley school, and one ( Ella), taught there .

September 1944 "Miss Miriam West is teaching fifth grade in the Churchill school at Cheyenne, Wyo., this year. She spent the summer at Greeley."

1949 Louisville, Colorado "Miss Miriam West, a former teacher in the Louisville schools, who is now teaching in Cheyenne was a luncheon guest of Mrs. J. W. Malclom Thursday. After school Mrs Warrren Wiggett of Erie, Mrs. Pearl Callahan, Miss Lydia Morgan and Miss Margaret Earnest attended a tea Mrs. Malcolm gave for her."

1958 Louisville, Colorado "Mrs. Helen Grunkemeyer and Mrs. Elmo Jackson attended a bridge luncheon at the home of Mrs. C. E. Hannah in Boulder Thursday afternoon of last week. The hostess is the former Miss Margaret Earnest, a former teacher in the Louisville schools. Among the guests was Miss Miriam West of Cheyenne, another former Louisville teacher."

February 1961 Greeley "Miss Miriam West, of Cheyenne and Greeley had surgery Friday at Weld County General hospital. She was released Saturday and spent the weekend with her sister Mrs. Viola Calhoun.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer West and Sandra called at the Calhoun home Saturday evening, and also at Bone home to visit Mrs. Mathilda West Wednesday morning."

The class of 1927 Eaton High School said in 1977 "Miriam West - 109 East 29th Street, Cheyenne, Wyoming, is retired, after teaching 15 years at Louisville and 29 years at Cheyenne."

1992

June 2002 Greeley "Viola Calhoun, 91, of Greeley, died on Friday, June 21. Mrs. Calhoun was born to E.H. and Mathilda West on Oct. 12, 1910, in a farmhouse near Eaton. She attended Lucas School, Eaton High School and Colorado State College of Education, now the University of Northern Colorado. Mrs. Calhoun taught at Galeton for four years before going back to school to receive her bachelor's degree. She then taught in Byers.
In 1942, Mrs. Calhoun married William Calhoun. They lived on a ranch near Byers. She was active in Eastern Star and was Worthy Matron in 1948.
After the death of her husband, she moved to Greeley with her two small children. Mrs. Calhoun was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, Greeley Woman's Club and the Republican Woman's Club.
Survivors are her daughter, Sue Calhoun Welsh; her son, Warren Calhoun; a sister, Miriam West; and two grandsons.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bonell Good Samaritan Chapel."
