In 1860 Elkhart County, Indiana, Henry Walker is 45, Sarah 41, Chauncy 14, Margaret 12, Rebecca 10, Dianna 8, JOHN 6, and Franklin 3.
(Chauncy Walker and Harried Ophelia Thompson, both of Elkhart, Indiana, married married in Cass County Michigan July 3, 1873. They were liChauncy was born in Medina County Ohio, Harriet in Cass County.
Henry and Sarah are in Cass County, Michigan in 1870, with Rebecca 20, John 16, Franklin 13 and Rachel 21 now married to Asburry Cooper 23.
Henry died July 4, 1876, Sarah Nov 13, 1880, both buried in Edwardsburg, Cass CCounty.
John Walker - March 15, 1854 - Feb 14, 1909 is also buried there.
In 1850 Summit County, Ohio, there's a George Thornton, 7, with Henry 44 and Sarah 43. Elisa is 23, John 18, William 16, Mariah 15, Peter 13, Solomon 11, Samuel 9, and Laura 2.
The family history says George was born Feb 25, 1844 in Ohio.
Sarah 1807-1887 is buried in St. Joseph County, Indiana. # 99275212, with Henry 1796-1879.
George Thornton married Diana Walker October 21, 1869 in Elkhart COunty, Indiana.
"GEORGE THORNTON b. 25 Feb 1844 married Diana Walker b. 17 Apr 1852 from Edwardsburg, Michigan, area at the time of their marriage. They moved to Kalispell, Montana, to make their home. Mary Jane Thornton, granddaughter of John and Susan Weyrick Thornton, located them when on a trip out west to Glacier National Park. All their children were girls so there would be no "Thornton" named descendents of George and Diana."
In 1870 Elkhart County, George is 26, a brickmaker Diana 18, both born in Ohio. They're living with Solomon Thornton 30 and Susan 23.
In 1880 Clay County, Nebraska, George "Thorton" is 33, Dianah 27, Frances 6, and Nellie 1.
George Thornton in 1885 Clay County Nebraska, 41, with Diana 33, Francis 11, and Nellie 6. Diana and both daughters were born in Indiana.
April 1888 Holyoke Colorado. "Geo Thornton, one of the wide-awake men from Harvard, Nebaska, was in the city this week. He says Holyoke has made greeater progress for her age than any town he ever say. And hte country, he says, can't be beaten."
June 28, 1889 "We stopped at the northeast corner of North Holyoke, where is one of the finest views of any part of the city. Geo. Thornton has purchased part of this corner block, and as soon as he can buy the remainder of it he will erect a fine dwelling."
George cash-claimed a quarter in 31, 5N 46W in 1891 - two miles north of the later Pleasant Valley Church.
He was in the area in 1894 "Joseph Brower, 42 married Adelia F. Kuhns, 33, of Fort Wayne,
Indiana, February 18, 1894 at the home of the groom in Yuma County, ceremony
performed by Joseph H. Shackley (Shockley), justice of the peace in Magee Precinct,
witnessed by George Thornton and W. A. McNichols." Joseph lived about three miles east of the Thornton claim.
In 1900 Kalispell Montana, George has no occupation, born February 1844 in Ohio, married 30 years to Diana April 1852 Indiana. They said Alta was born March 1879 (AGE ELEVEN) in COlorado. This has to be 18898 - the ther was no one in Holyoke in 1879,m with no railroad.
Diana has had three children, all living.
George Thornton 1844-1918 is buried in Kalispell, Montana # 17003134, with Diana (Walker) Thornton 1852-1930.
ALTA
Alta Miller of Kalispell was the executor of George's estate.
FindaGrave # 17401935 says their daughter Alta Maud Thornton Miller was born March 4, 1890 at Holyoke, COlorado, dying October 14, 1961, also buried in Kalispell.
"J. V. Miller, who is the able colaborer with his
brother in the operation of the old home farm,
has also applied himself earnestly to the work in
hand and is numbered among the progressive and
enterprising farmers of the Flathead Valley.
Twenty-two years' residence in this locality has
but confirmed his fellow citizens in their estimate
of him as a man of clean character, sterling integrity and indomitable perseverance in the prosecution of any work in hand. Thus he has earned
the high place he holds today in popular esteem.
Mr. Miller was married to Alta Thornton, a native of Colorado and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
George Thornton. To this union has been born a
son, Norman Frederick.
Politically Mr. Miller is
in accord with the traditions of the family and
gives his earnest support to the republican party.

October 19, 1961 "Funeral services for Alta M. Miller were conducted Tuesday afternoon from the Waggener Campbell chapel
with the Rev. Jack Severns, pastor of the Epworth Methodist church, officiating. Interment followed in the Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
Alta Maude Miller was born March 4, 1890 at Holyoke, Colorado, the daughter of George and Dianna Walker Thornton. She came to the Flathead with her parents when five years old and had
made her home here since. On March 6, 1910 she was married to James (Vic) Miller, and with her husband had made their home
just west of Kalispell. Mrs. Miller had been active in the Epworth Church's Ladies Aid for a number of years.
Surviving her are her husband, James Miller, at the family home west of Kalispell; one daughter, Mrs. Maxine Drew of St. Regis, Montana; one son, Norman.F. Miller of Kalispell, and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Miller died in the total hospital in Kalispell Oct. 14, at age 71.

Francis Thornton married Albert C. Larson May 28, 1895, recorded in Phillips County.
In 1900 Box Butte County, Nebraska, Albert is a railroad conductor, born Jan 1872 in Illinois, married five years to Francis Jan 1874 Indiana.
They're in San Leandro, California in 1940 - both were in Edmonton, Alberta Canada in 1935)
Frances Larson was born Jan 1, 1874 in Indiana, dying April 22, 1945 in Alameda County, father Thornton.
NELLIE
One tree said Nellie was born Feb 14, 1879 in Indiana, dying April 7, 1956 in Chiro ? California.
Another added that she married Richard Jones, who died 1918 in Montana....
