Josh proved up the two quarters north of his, also in 1914. Willard H. Chapman and Emma U. Chapman had timber-claimed two quarters just north of James Josh, but in 1898.

Lester F. Smart, 78, of 3465 Warners Road, Camillus, died Saturday at St. Camillus Health and Rehabilitation Center.
A native of Yuma, Colo., Mr. Smart lived in Camillus since 1937. He was formerly employed at Solvay Process Company, retiring in 1978 after 37 years.
Mr. Smart was a former member of the Belle Isle United Methodist Church and of United Steel Workers Local 12457. He served with the Army during World War II, and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received at Normandy in August of 1944.
Surviving are his brother, Robert L. of Camillus; two sisters, Eleanor De Dona of Fairmount and Grace Thompson of Camillus; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Robert L. Smart , 78, of Camillus,died Sunday in Community-General Hospital.
Born in Yuma, Colo., he lived in the Amboy-Belle Isle area since 1937. He retired in 1982 after 40 years as a loader with Allied Chemical Corp., Solvay. He was a former member of Belle Isle United Methodist Church and Local 12457, United Steelworkers of America. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors: Two sisters, Eleanor DeDona of Fairmount and Grace Thompson of Camillus.

Elinor (Smart) DeDona, 82, of Fairmount, passed away Monday at Upstate University Hospital at Community General. Born in Syracuse, she was a graduate of Crouse School of Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse at Crouse Hospital followed by Community General Hospital for over 30 years before retiring in 1980. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and playing cards. Elinor was predeceased by her husband, Joseph in 2007. Surviving are her daughter, Marilyn Theresa DeDona, of Fairmount and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday in BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME. Burial will be in Belle Isle Cemetery. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, 2601 Milton Ave. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Assoc., PO Box 3049 Syracuse, NY 13220-3049.

Grace was a Bus Driver for West Genesee Schools for over 21 years before retiring in 1992. She was predeceased by her three brothers, Robert, Lester and William. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert "Bob"; a son, Dwight (Mary) of Camillus; a daughter, Joyce Stanton all of Camillus; a sister, Eleanor DeDonna of Fairmount; and one grandchild, Brian.

An 11-year-old Camillus boy, oh a swimming outing with his sister and brother-in-law, drowned in the Seneca River at Baldwinsville last night. He was identified by police as William H. Smart, son of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Smart of the Amboy-Warners Rd., Camillus RD I. Baldwinsville Police Chief John Commane and Patrolmen Theodore Abbott and Curtis Root said the boy had been with his] sister and brother-in-law, Mr. j and Mrs. Sherwood B. Skiff of j Camillus, when he sank from! sight about 30 feet offshore. ' j Authorities reported the boy had been twimming in the river off the village bathing beach about a quarter mile west of the dam. The bathing beach has not opened for the .season, Chief Commane said, and no lifeguard was on duty. Baldwinsville Fire Chief Howard Harrington dispatched volunteers to the scene minutes after the alarm was sounded at 7:30 pjn. and they were joined a shori time later by firefighters from Liverpool Lyncourt, Matty-dale, Seneca River, Plainville, and Belgium-Cold Springs. The volunteers and their boats were u^der direction of Roger Mason of the Baldwinsville* Rescue Squad. Despite grappling efforts of| the flotilla of boats the body! was not recovered .until shortly! after 9 p.ra. by Larry Bailey, a] skin diver.
