BENJAMIN SLATER
Benjamin did a cash claim on a quarter in 5N 46W - just north of the current Pleasant Valley Church. - in 1891.He might be the Benjamin Slater in the 1880 Hamilton County Nebraska agricultural census, and in 1870 Richardson County Nebraska census with parents Steven and Anna Slater. Ben is 8 in this census, with siblings Martin 18, Mary 16, Egnard 12, Anton 10, and Anna 4. Parents both born in Prussia.
There's another Benjamin Slater in 1885 Adams County - he's only 12, son of John and Lucinda.
Or the Benjamin Sleuter in 1900 Hardin County, Iowa, born February 1866 in Germany, married to Katie, born May 1869 in Germany. They have Simon born November 1894, Meta November 1898, Annie February 1897, and Etta April 1899. He arrived in 1888, Katie in 1884, so the timing of the cash claim would fit.
Another is the Benjamin Slater in La Salle County, Illinois - who died in 1904 (One tree said 1897) his wife in 1907 (and the tree said she died in 1891 in Arkansas River valley, Colorado) - it looks like his son E.M. Slater. born in Illinois, is in Weld County in 1885 - E.M.'s wife Bertha was born in New York, son Leroy in Illinois and son G.W in Colorado. Elwin was in Pueblo in 1900, and his wife Zelphia had remarried by 1910.
A Benjamin F. Slater did a cash claim for a quarter in Prowers County. also in 1891.....
Elwyn M. Slater did a cash claim for a quarter in Prowers County in 1891, and another in 1894 in Bent County.
Elwin's sister Greta had married, and is Girtie C. Graw in 1900 Bent County. Their brother Burt (Adelbert Stoler) is with Greta. Another tree says Carrie Gertrude Slater married Gustav Gray October 22, 1889 in Prowers County, Colorado., and died July 20 1912 in Douglas, Arizona.
