Jerome and Emma (Martland) Ostrom



In 1880 Gosper County, Nebraska, Jerome Ostrum is 34, Emma Ostrum 28 Wife, Gertie Ostrum 7 Daughter, Byson Ostrum 6 Son, and "Ralie" (probably Katie) Ostrum 1 Daughter.

"Bide" and "Brigham" Ostrom arrived in Yuma County in 1908 from Edison, Nebraska, intending to file on land south of Wray.

February 1910 "J. B. Ostrom purchased a fine span of mule colts at the Pfendler sale today ."

In 1910 Vernon precinct, Jerome B. "Estrom" is 65, Emma Estrom 55 Wife, Byron Estrom 36 Son, and Mary B. Estrom 24 Daughter.

July 1910 Eureka items in the Wray Rattler "Mrs. Delia Donworth, of Christie, Wisconsin, on her way homr from California, where she had spent the winter with her son, stopped off at Eckley Saturday night for a few days visit with her sister Mrs. E. Ostrom.
Dal French, of Edison, Nebraska, is visiting his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ostrom."

May 1912 Eckley items " Sylvia Rorobaugh is helping Mrs. Bide Ostrom with her house work this spring.
Bide Ostrom has built an addition to his house which makes quite an improvement.
Wray and Rutri Andrews and Goldio Rorobaugh were out visiting the Eckley school Thursday. School will close Wednesday the 29th. The tenchcr, Mrs. Ostrom, is helping the pupils to prepare a program for the occasion."


Mrs. E. Ostrom was the teacher at Pleasant Valley # 14 in 1915- 1918.

December 1913 Sand Hill items " The west school of Dist. 18 closes Wednesday for a ten days vacation. The teacher, Mrs. Ostrum, leaves that day for her home at Arapahoe, Nebraksa, to spend her vacation."

October 1915 Wray " Freda French and grandmother, Mrs. Ostrum, who are teaching northwest of town, visited Mrs. W. French from Saturday to Sunday. "
Freda French and Mrs. E. Ostrom were teaching at Pleasant Valley in 1915-1916.

June 1914 Wray "Mrs. W. P. French came down from Eckley Friday evening where she had spent a week visiting her brother, Byron Ostrom. Her niece, Naomi Ostrom, accompanied her to Wray and on Sunday went on to Arapahoe, Nebiaska, where she will visit her grandmother this summer. ."

September 1914 "Mr. Bide Ostrom, agent for the Plum Field Nursery, located at Fremont, Nebraska, was in this part of the country Monday replacing trees that have died during the summer as per contract last spring when he took orders for trees."

November 1914 "Mrs. Gertie French is here from Arapahoe, Nebraska, keeping house at the home of her brother, Bide Ostrum, while Mrs. Ostrum is in helping care for her husband, who is still sick at his father's."

February 1915 "H. Ostrom and Mrs. E. F. Foor drove down to Wray last Tuesday from their home south of Eckley. ."
