Albert Manhart 29 married Edna Doyle, 28, June 12, 1907 in Sedalia
Colorado The Albert Manhart in 1900 Sedalia was born in 1877, so he's
probably too young to be the 1891 claimant
MEINRAD
May 17, 1876 on the Kenilworth from Antwerp were Mein..rad 23 and
Martin 22 Meinhart, both Swiss laborers, They said they were going to
Philadelphia.
Maybe Meinrad Mainhardt in 1877 Milwaukee, a "local editor". of the
Herold, is the same one.
Meinrad Manhart cash-claimed a quarter in that section 13 in 1891.
Meinrad Manhart was in the Denver 1892 directory as a foreman of the
Greenwood Ranch, 1201 15th Street. He was in the 1899 directory also,
farmer, "n of Washington Heights."
Meinard Manhart married Eliza Whitlock March 29, 1894 in Denver, Colorado.
1910 census of Saint Clair County, Missouri has Mein *E Manhart, 56,
Switzerland, farmer, married to Eliza, 45. They have Hazel, 15, and
James Whitlock, 14, nephew. In 1900 James F. Whitlock, 4, was living with
stepmother Lillie Whitlock in Carbon County, Montana.
The 1915 census of Montgomery County, Kansas has M.F. Menhart, 62, with
Hazel Menhart, 19, and James Witlock, 18.
In 1918 the Coffeyville, Kansas city directory Meinrad F. Manhart is a gardner, living at
204 N. Buckeye. Hazel Manhart also at that address.
In 1920 Coffeyville there's a Meinrad Manhart, 67 retired widower, who
said he immigrated in '69, naturalized in '73
Also in 1920 Coffeyville, Hazel Manhart is a roomer with the Charles Rennet
family. They said she was 24, born in Kansas (but said her parents were
born in the U.S., so the informant didn't know her well)
MARTIN
May 17, 1876 on the Kenilworth from Antwerp were Mein..rad 23 and
Martin 22 Meinhart, both Swiss laborers, They said they were going to
Philadelphia.

in 1891
So he's probably not the Martin and Karolina Manhart, both Swiss, who arrived
New York 1894.
He's probably the Martin Manhart, 23, in the 1880 Clinton, Iowa census.
Martin is with his brother Robert 32 and wife Varina. In 1895 Minden,
Pottawattamie County, Iowa he's 38.
In 1900 Robert June 1847 and Irina Jan 1852 were in Harrison County, still there in 1900 - with
a son Louis born January 1897.

MANHART-Lynn Edwin, son of Robert and Theresa (Pieper) Manhart, was born
June 20, 1930 on the family farm north of Neola, IA. He attended Frog Pond
Country School and graduated from Beebeetown High School in 1947. Lynn then went
on to work with his father on the family farm. Lynn married Eva Irene Gleason on
November 12, 1950 at Minden Congregational Church. They were blessed with five
children. Lynn farmed his whole life on the family farm. He was a member of the
Harrison County Cattleman, and Asgrow/Dekalb Dealer and an active member of
Minden United Church of Christ. Lynn's favorite past times were fishing,
farming, and most of all spending time with family, watching his children, then
moving on to watch his grandchildren's sports as well. Life events were a
favorite past time Lynn rarely missed. Lynn passed away at Methodist Hospital in
Omaha September 20, 2008 at the age of 78. He was preceded in death by his
parents; brothers, Walt, Paul and Louie Manhart; sisters, Verna Campbell and
Pearl Manhart; granddaughter, Melissa Ann Manhart. He is survived by his wife of
57 years, Eva; sister, Jewel Thomas; his children, Vern Manhart of Neola and
friend Lois Gittins of Bellevue, Neb., Linda Manhart of Council Bluffs, David
Manhart and wife Cindy, Dan Manhart and wife Peggy of Neola, Calvin Manhart and
wife Amy of Missouri Valley, 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, many
nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
VISITATION with the family, Tuesday, 5-8 p.m. at Minden United Church of Christ.
FUNERAL SERVICE Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. at the church with Pastor Brian Wohlhuter
officiating. Interment Minden Cemetery. A lunch will at the Minden Community

AKRON, Iowa - Mabel E. (Schuning) Wise, 87, of
Pottstown, Pa., formerly of Akron, died Monday, June
4, 2001, at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's
Catholic Church in Akron. Graveside services will be
4 p.m Saturday in Graceland Cemetery, Avoca, Iowa.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at
Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.
Mrs. Wise was born Jan. 26, 1914, in Minden,
Iowa, the daughter of John and Edith (Manhart)
Schuning. She graduated from Minden High School and
attended college courses provided by Iowa State
Teachers College. She taught in the Minden
Elementary School.
She married Joseph E. Wise of Shelby, Iowa, on
Jan. 27, 1940. The couple farmed near Shelby for
several years before moving to Akron.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church
in Akron, Catholic Daughters of America and Women's
League of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Survivors include a son, Edward of Akron; a
daughter and her husband, Karen Wise Nostadt and
William Nostadt of Schwenksville, Pa.; two
grandchildren, Wendy and Keion Nostadt; a brother,
Harley "Bud" Schuning of Glendale, Calif.; three
sisters, Myra Peterson of Council Bluffs, Iowa,
Darlene Felton of Neola, Iowa, and Betty Barrier of
Colorado Springs, Colo.; and numerous nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Delmar
"Pete" Schuning; a sister, Alva Schuning; her
husband; and a son, Kenneth.
. HARRISON COUNTY IOWA - has to be Lawrence, who said he was from
Alsace-Lorraine.
L.Mannhart, harness maker, was born in Algiers, Germany, in 1853, came to
America in 1872, and located at Joliet, Ill. He came to Mondamin, Ia., in
1878 and engaged in his present business; deals in all kinds of harness,
salddles and horse furnishings found in first-class shops.
ANDREAS
Andreas Manhart homesteaded a quarter in 13, 4N 47W (about two miles west) in
1894, and in 1922 Katherina Manhart had that southeast quarter of section 13.
Mary Katherina Schallberger petitioned for naturalization of her husband in
1929 in Portland, saying she was born June 19, 1894 at Yuma, Colorado.

(1855-1921), farmer, Catholic, lived on Skye Road at Cape Horn, Skamania County,
WA, died at home of natural causes probably due to a heart failure while plowing
on his farm, attended by Coroner W.J. Knapp of Vancouver, funeral 2/11/1918 at
the Washougal Catholic Church with Rev. Father O'Donnell, buried at Washougal
Catholic Cemetery (has marker). Charged to wife Katherine Mannhart. Order given
by brother of Katherine. A.W. Schallberger, RD #11, Hillsdale, OR. Parents were
Andrew Mannhart and Katherine Hobi both born in Switzerland.

The 1910 census of Clark County, Washington has
an Andrew Mannhard, 55 farming with Katherine 53, both born in
Switzerland. Daughter Marie 14, was born in Colorado (that would place
them in Colorado in 1896)
A 1914 newspaper article said Miss Mary Mannhart
attended a minstrel show at the Hellig Theater in Washougal.
In 1920 Beaverton, Oregon Catherine Mannhart is
living with daughter Mary L. Schallberger 25, her husband Arnold Schallberger
29, two kids, Arnold's brother Werner 23 and father Joseph 65.
