July 1945 "Mr. and Mrs. W. P. French and granddaughter Ruth French returned home Wednesday from a few days spent with relatives at Edison, Nebr."

"Word was received here Monday of the death of W. P. French
on Friday at his home in Compton, Calif., following a prolonged illness. Mr. French is well known over the entire Yuma county, having resided in Eckley for years before going to California a few years ago. He was connected with the county road department for years. The body of the deceased will be intened at the old family home of Edison, Neb., on Wednesday of this week. Sympathy is extended the bereaved family."
April 3, 1952 "Ruth French accompanied relatives from Denver to Edison, Neb., early Wednesday morning to attend funeral services for W. P. French, who passed away in California last week."
October 1952 "Miss Ruth French of Eckley became the bride of Byron Van Meter of Kanorado, Kan., at a pretty wedding Friday afternoon, October 10, at the Presbyterian church in Wray where Rev. W. S. Ickler performed the double ring ceremony at three o'clock.
Church decorations were baskets of yellow and lavender mums. 'Indian Love Call,' 'Always," 'O Promise Me' and 'I Love You Truly" were played by Mrs. Ron Rolling preceding the wedding march. The bride chose a pink tweed suit with navy blue accessories and a corsage of pink roses and white carnations. Her attendant, Miss June Finn of Denver, wore a navy suit with brown accesories and a corsage of yellow carnations. Best man for the groom was Simon Van Meter. The reception was in the church parlor. Following a trip through Arkansas and Missouri they plan to make their home on a farm north of Kanorado. The groom, son of E. W. Van Meter, is a graduate of the Kanorado high school. His bride, a graduate of the Eckley high school, is a former employee of the National Bank of Wray."
January 1959 "Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Kanorado, Kan., for Peggy Jo Van Meter, 5, on Tuesday afternoon. December 30. The little girl, who expired December 26 at Grand Junction, is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Byron Van Meter, and two brothers. Her mother is the former Ruth French of Eckley."

"Word has been received by relatives here that Lt. Don French, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack French, now of Amarillo, TX, formerly of Eckley and Wray, is missing in action since September 12th. Don, who attended high school here, is very well known and has been piloting a B-17 flying fortress in the European Theatre. All his friends sincerely hope that the word missing is correct and that he will come thru.
