Funeral services for Georgia Spurgeon, 91 of Coos Bay, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16, 1992 at the Coos Bay Chapel. Interment will follow at the Ocean View Memory Gardens. Services are under the direction of the Coos Bay Chapel, 267-3131.
She was born June 8, 1901, at Kinsington, Kan., and died Nov. 11, 1992, Coos Bay, of natural causes.
She had lived in the area since 1944, and married Elmore Spurgeon on Dec. 9, 1961.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Jones of Coos Bay and Jean Cook of Ronald, Wash.; a son, Lyle Marquardt of Berkely, Calif.; a step-son, Archie Spurgeon of Coos Bay; a sister, Pauline Rodgers of Idaho; a brother, Merlin Rodgers, of Denver, Colo.; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews

Vigil service for Pauline J. McGowan, 84, of Emmett, Idaho who died Thursday, May 14, 2009 in Nampa, will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 18, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emmett. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, at the church. Services are under the direction of Potter Funeral Chapel, Emmett.
Pauline was born on June 27, 1924, at Fort Morgan, Colo., to John and Dorothy Rodgers. She was reared and educated in Colorado. She married Eddie McGowan on Oct. 1, 1943, at Bushnell, Neb. They lived in Ft. Lupton, Colo., and later moved to Dayton, Wash. In 1960 they moved to Emmett. Pauline worked as a sales clerk for several years.
She enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting, canning and most of all her grandchildren. She was very involved at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emmett for many years.
She is survived by her children, Dick McGowan of Tacoma, Wash., Mike and Windy McGowan and David and Debbie McGowan all of Star; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in , died by her husband, Eddie, in 2003, 5 brothers, a sister and one grandchild.
