Mats and Ida (Holmberg) Martinson, Bryant



Matts Mortenson, per the Bethany Lutheran Church, Las Animas, Colorado, was born November 1855 in Wara, Finland, married Ida Evelina Maria Annalinsa Holmberg born Sept 29, 1854 in Wara, in May 1878 in Finland. Linda Mathilda 1879, Wanda Leseth 1881, Seigfred 1884, Julia Ingeborg 1886, Oscar Valfred July 13, 1888, Gilbert 1890, Arthu Mauritz 1894, and Ruth Isabel 1898..

Matt cash-claimed a quarter in section 6, 5N 48W in 1889, and another in 1916. This land was in the extreme northwest part of Yuma County, bordering Logan County and Washington County, near the Leslie post office.



In 1900 Bent County, Colorado, Matt born Dec 1855, married 22 years to Ida Sept 1854, Linda Sept 1880, and Liseth Jan 1881, all four born in Sweden, Fred March 1884 and Julia Jan 1886 in Nebraska, Oscar July 1888, Gilbert Sept 1890, Arthur April 1894, and Ruth June 1898 in Colorado.

In 1902 the Empire Land and Cattle Company sued Ida E Mortenson for the southwest quarter of section 6, 5N 8W.

In 1920 Bent COunty, "John" Martenson 65 and Ida 66, both born in Finland.

Matts J. Martenson 1855-1932 is buried in Las Animas # 29840961, with Ida (Holmberg) Martenson 1854-1939.

LINDA

Linda, 39, is married to William B. McCubbin in 1920 Bent County. He's a laborer, 50, born in Missouri. Julanne is 15, Rosa 12, Clarence 11, and Christian 3, all four born in Colorado.

They're on the same page as John Martenson 65 and Ida 66, both born in Finland.

Linda and William McCubbin divorced in Bent County on May 5, 1921.

In 1930, Linda is married to Henry M. Johnson 41, born in Minnesota, a census enumerator and they're in Placer County, California, with Cristo McCubbins 13 born in Missouri.

Mathilda Johnson 1879-1965 is buried in Milaca, Minnesota # 52751711.

William B. McCubbin is buried in Las Animas # 34343855.

Her daughter Juleen L. McCubbin Cada 1905-1986 is buried in Las Animas, with Clarence Cada, 1901-1981.

Ross Clayton McCubbin 1907-1970 is buried in Auburn, Placer ounty, California # 46814020.

Clarence B. McCubbin 1908-1976 is also buried in Placer County 3 41748380, with Eleanor Merle (Bennett( McCubbin 1912-1983.

Wendle Leseth Mortenson, 23, married Gust Carlson, 31, on May 31, 1904 in Las Animas, Bent County.

FRED

Fred'k Martinson and Selma Hagstrom married on November 7, 1911 in Kings County, New York.

In 1920, on the same page as his sister Linda and his parents, Fred Mortenson is farming, 35, born in Nebraska, with Selma 34 born in Finland, immigrating 1905. Emelia is 6, born in Colorado.

In 1930 Bent County, Fred is a grain thresher, 46, with Selma 44, Amelia 17, and Clara 9.

Fred is buried in Brighton, Colorado 1884-1962 # 126589790, with Selma J. 1885-1964.

JULIA

Julia Martinson, 20, married Charley Dick on December 2, 1906 in Las Animas.

In 1910 Bent County, Charles is a blacksmith 25 born in Missouri, with Julia 24 in Nebraska.

C. C. Dick is a blacksmith in 1920 Yuma County, California, 38, born in Missouri, in a boarding house, single.

OSCAR

Oscar, 23, married Idotha Thorton on Sept 17, 1911 in Las Animas.

Oscar is a garage mechanic in 1920 Las Animas, 31, born in Colorado, with Idotha 29 born in Missouri.

They have a car repair shop in 1930 Las Animas, with raymond E. 8.

The three are still in Las Animas in 1940.
Oscar 1888-1958 is buried in las Animas, with Idotha Lydia 1890-1931. Her parents were John Clark thaxton and Malvina Clementine Thaxton.

GILBERT

Gilbert Gottfried Martinson was born Sept 6, 1891 at Leslie, Colorado.

In 1910 Bent County, Fred, 26, Oscar W. 21, Gilbert G. 19, and Arthur M. 16 are farming in 1910.

Gilbert G. "Martensen" and Lucile W. Delts married in Fort Morgan, Colorado on April 21, 1918.

John W. Dilts cash-claimed a quarter in section 15, 1N 43W in 1890 about five miles southeast of Wray, and timber-claimed another in section 22, nmext to it, in 1895.

1895 Fort Morgan "J. W. Dilts will be ready to move into his new quarters across the street from his present business abode on Monday next. In addition to his present line of goods he proposes to lay in a stock of hardware."

1900 Fort Morgan, Colorado

Lucille W. Dilts was in Fort Morgan in 1900, born August 1890, with John W. Dilts 50 born in Ohio, operating a general store. Mary is 41, born in Iowa, Effie L. 21 Iowa, Edgar G. 22 and Blanche G. 15 in Nebraska, Stella Nov 1886 and Lucille W. August 1890, both born in Colorado.

Lucille W. "Dietz" was in Morgan County in 1910, 19, with John W. 64 and Mary L. 52.

(1900 Wray "Luther Sherman and family have moved onto the Dilts place east of town . "

1915 Wray " Last Tuesday afternoon the barn on the L. D. Brown farm, known as the Dilts place, a few miles southwest of Laird, was totally destroyed by fire, together with five suckling mules, a yearling mule and a three year old, and about 300 bushels of grain. ")

John Wesley Dilts 1848-1938 is buried in Loveland, # 33753558 , with Mary Louise 1852-1941 # 33753563.

In 1920 Bent County, Gilbert is operating a filling station, with Lucille born in Colorado, both 29.

Gilbert is operating an oil and gasoline business in 1930 Bent County, with Lucile, both 39.

They're still there in 1940.

One tree said Lucille was born in Wray, Colorado died September 29, 1949 in Las Animas.

Gilbert is buried in Las Animas 1890-1965 # 29735656, with Lucille 1890-1949 # 196796463.

ARTHUR

Arthur registered for WWII in Las Animas, born April 12, 1894 in Yuma, COlorado, farming, with Stella May Maretenson of the same address , 304 Moore.

He's buried in Las Animas 1894-1988, with Stella M. (Johnson) Martenson 1899-1974 (married 1915)

RUTH

Ruth I. Martenson, 18, married J.A. Greenstreet on October 10, 1916 in Las Animas.

In 1920 Las Animas, James A. Greenstreet is a mechanic, 25, born in Missouri, Ruth J. 21, and James A. 1.

They have a garage in Pratt, Kansas in 1930, James 35, Ruth 31, James 12, Ida M. 10, and Floyd 3.

In 1940 they're in Pratt (in Las Animas in 1935), James 45, Ruth 41, James 21, Ida Mae 30, Loyd M. 13, and Janice Kay 1.

James 1894-1959 and Ruth 1898-1995 # 75141441 are buried in Pratt.
