William did a cash claim in 1891 in 5N 47W - between Clarkville and the Phillips County line.  Mary A. Viers just east of him.

Elisha W. Viers did a cash claim in 1890 for a quarter in 5, 6N 46W -  in Phillips County, about ten miles north of Mary. and in 1891 another cash claim for a quarter in section 8.

Fatal Wreck-Last Saturday afternoon about 5 o’clock the train on the Oberlin branch running from a place which had been washed out three miles south of Republican city was wrecked near Kanona, nine miles from Oberlin, Kansas, and Miss Nellie Koll, daughter of Engineer Koll, and a man named Harry White, were killed and Mrs. I. Egbert, wife of the fireman, Dr. A. A. Allen, of Topeka, Kansas and Ed Bender of Hastings were injured. Since the floods the first of the month when the road bed and track were washed away on this branch near Republican City, where the train crews live, this crew has been running out of Oberlin and the families of the engineer, fireman and brakeman, were on the train intending to spend Sunday in Oberlin with them. The engine was running backward when, from some unknown cause the tender tracks were derailed and the whole train, engine, a box car and the caboose went into the ditch. Mrs. Koll and another daughter and Mr. E.O. Scott, the brakeman’s wife, were not hurt. The remains of Miss Koll were brought over from Oberlin to this city and funeral services were held in the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon, and were attended by a large congregation, a number of her friends from Republican City being present. The pastor of the church at Republican, of which the deceased was a member, officiated. The body was interred in the family lot in Longview cemetery. Friday 14 July 1905

1907 the Yuma sheriff, because of a judgment against Mary Viers and Elisha Viers, in favor of James N. Brown, offered Mary's quarter for sale.

In 1900 Republican City, Nebraska William Nov 1860, in Iowa is a locomotive engineer.  Miriam Dec 1858 in Illinois, and Millie Sep 1885 Iowa, Mary M. Sep 1892 Nebraska, with George G. Dyer, stepson, Aug 1881 Illinois.  So this looks like a second marriage for Marian

Engineer Koll Buried Here.
The remains of William Koll were brought here last Saturday from Republican City and interment was made in Riverview. This closes a tragic life. Koll was terribly burned November 27th, we are informed, in an accident near Salt Lake City, Utah, which finally resulted in his death. The remains were first taken to his home in Republican City where services ware conducted. Quite a large delegation of neighbors friends and relatives accompanied the body here from Republican City. Deceased leaves wife and one daughter who was severely injured some years since since on her fathers engine while he was then employed as a Burlington engineman. The family is well known here and they have the deepest sympathy of all in this last sorrow.

In May 1910 James N. Brown filed suit against William Koll and Mary Koll regarding registration of the sw of 9, 5N 47W

In 1910 Republican City, Nebraska Miriam Koll is 51, widowed, born in Illinois.  Mary M. Koll, 17, Nebraska  is her stepdaughter, and George G. Dyer, 28, Illinois,  is her son-in-law.

In 1930   and 1940 Wayne County Nebraska there' a Minnie Koll, 38, housekeeper to the Hoffman's two middle-aged "relatives."  In the Pleasant View-Winside Cemetery, Wayne County is a "Minnie Koll - 1893- 1976."
