Lewis F. Hoch, William D. Hoch, Bryant


1896 Steuben, Indiana "Fred Writzel and daughter of Archibald, Ohio and William Hoch and wife of Edgerton, Ohio, visited Fred Hoch and family last Sunday. "

In 1900 Williams County, Ohio, William Hoch, born March 1847 in New York, married 24 years to mary Aug 1854 Ohio, have Wiliam Jan and Lewis, borth born January 1892. Mary has had eight kids, six living.

February 1904 " February 24. J. F. Coss, editor of the Independent , Edon, Ohio, in a quarrel with William Hoch, jr., today shot at Hoch, the bullet passing through his coat. Hoch swore out a warrant for the arrest of Coss. The latter claims that Hoch, angry at an article in the paper relating to him, endeavored to assault Coss, who shot in self-defense. "

April 1908 Yuma "W. F. Hoch and family of Edon, Ohio, arrived Wednesday on No. 1. Their car of goods came Wednesday morning."

1910 Angola, Indiana "Mrs. Charles Hoch and children are here from Indianapolis for an in definite stay with her parents, Jacob Kepler and wife. William Hoch, of Delta, Ohio, and Fred Hoch, of Syracuse, visited their brother Charles at the home of his father-in-law, Jacob Kepler. "

William Franklin Hoch 1848-1928 is buried in Edgerton, Ohio # 132246817, with Mary 1854-1931 # 132246996.

1907

Lewis proved up a quarter in section 29, 5N 48W in 1916. His witnesses were Louis Korf, T. J. McKinney, William H. Buzzell, and Burt Cummings, all of Yuma.



1907 Yuma "We have the finest, up-to-date, stock of goods in Eastern Colorado. Our head salesman, William Hoch, is one of the most accommodating young men you ever met, all over the house in a minute, no delays under his charge. Then, there is our old-fashingone mixer, Irv Rising, who knows you're coming before you get inside the door and awaits your orders with politemenss,. Out Mr. Eyertone, not eyesore, is a genial chap of ability behind any counter and you need not be afraid to approach him. His extreme modesty is embarrassing but he cajn't help it. They are all a jolly good bunch to trade with, and as for myself I am just Fisher, the cellar clerk, tending strictly to your wants."

November 1907 "Will Hoch is out on his farm putting up a new house."


September 1911 "The call back to the farm, midst the golden corn, the lowing herdes, the new-mown hay, and the sweetness of the life next to nature was too strong for William Hoch, who has been one of the faithful and accomodating clerks a the R. A. Fisher store. At least, Bill went out to his farm Tuesday to do a corn cutting stunt and hold a huskin' bee all by his lonesome. He is expected to be back in the store tomorrow."

April 1908 Yuma "Upon their arrival here, H. F. Hoch and family of Edon, Ohio will occupy the Jessup residence."

Will Hoch is doing a little homesteading this week. He went out Monday morning with something less athan a car load of eatables."


August 1908

April 1911 "W.F. Hoch and son arrived from Eaton, Ohio this week for a visit with the former's son, Will, north of town, and brother, H.C. Hoch, of Yuma. Mr. Hoch was a resident of our city some years ago, and still has land interests in the county."
William D. Hoch proved up 240 acres in sections 7 and 18, 4N 47W in 1913. This was a half-mile east of the Ludlum post office.
March 21, 1913
June 1914 "Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Hoch arrived from Ohio last Friday, and are visiting at the home of their son, Wm. D. Hoch, north of town."

February 1922 "Mrs. Lee Korf and Mrs. Will Hoch were summoned to Trenton, Nebraska last Thursday by a message which stated that Mrs. Hoch's father had died.

1971 Yuma
William Dedrich Hoch 1882-1973 is buried in Yuma # 50790585, with Lillian 1895-1978 # 50790580.




LEWIS

In 1910 Williams County, Ohio William F. is 63, with his own income, Mary 56, and Lewis 18, no occupation.

Lewis F. Hoch was born January 2, 1892, and confirmed in the Edon, Ohio Evangelical Lutheran church on September 12, 1926, the same day as Juanita Hoch born May 21, 1902.

Lewis Hoch, a mechanic, born January 2, 1892 at Edgerton, Ohio to William F. Hoch of New York and Mary Rockey of Edon, Ohio, and Juanita Searfoss born May 21, 1901 at Mt. Blanchard, Ohio to John Searfoss of Ohio and Dena Olds of Aztic, Indiana, on July 30, 192 in DeKalb County, Indiana.

In 1930 Edon, Williams County, Louis is 38, an electrician in an auto garage, with Junita M. 27, and Theodore W. 4.

One tree said Lewis Frederick Hoch died November 24, 1932 in Edon, and buried in Edgerton, Ohio.

Juanita Hoch, 34, married Elgie Humbarger on October 6, 1936 in Williams County.

She's buried in Toledo, Ohio 1902-1951 # 133379382, with Elgie Humbarger 1913-1986.

Theodore William Hoch, 18, born at Montpelier, Ohio, married Ruth Mildred Hartley in Detroit on November 27, 1943.
"Theodore William Hoch, 92, of Novi, Michigan, who was born in Edon, Ohio on May 3, 1925, died at his apartment on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017.
He was a Navy veteran of WWII.
Ted was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by daughter, Karen (Tom) Payne of Houghton Lake; son, Arthur (Judy) Hoch of Alpena; daughter, Christine Underwood of Livonia; daughter, Paula (Norman) Azzopardi of Milford; son, Robert (Kathy) Hoch of Macomb; daughter, Janet (Michael) Rodocker of Manitou Beach; and sister-in-law, Janna Hoch of Novi. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; a son, Robert Hartley; a grandson, Benjamin Hoch; a daughter-in-law, Christine Hoch; and his brothers, Lewis and William.
Ted was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Walled Lake. He had a gentle spirit with a servant’s heart for his family, friends, and church community. Throughout his lifetime, he served several churches by singing in choirs, ushering, and serving on various boards. In the recent past, he assisted his wife with a savings stamp program at St. Matthew’s Lutheran School; and provided evening church suppers with his wife, Ruth, his brother Lewis, and his brother’s wife, Janna. Ted also served a period of time in St. Matthew’s men's prayer ministry. A memorial service will be held at 1 PM on October 14th at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Walled Lake. "

March 1955 Edgerton, Ohio "Mrs Gertrude Jerger, 79, widow of George Jerger, died Thursday morning in the Buck Convalescent Home, Edon, following an illness of several months.
Survivors include two sons, Raymond, Hicksville, and Marvin, of Edgerton; seven grandchildren, and a brother, William Hoch, Yuma Colorado. The body is in the Krill funeral home where the rosary will be recited at 8 p rn Sunday. Final rites will be conducted at 9:30 Monday in St. Mary's Catholic church, with Rev. John H. Flynn officiating. Burial will be in St Mary's cemetery."
