Walter E. Edie and Charlie Edie and James I. Edie

 Walter and Charlie cash-claimed quarters in 1891 in 15, 5N 47W, and James in 30 - about five miles away.-

and Margaret E. Edie cash-claimed a quarter in 9N 51W in 1891 - that's in Logan County,  about thirty miles northwest.

If she's the sister to the three in Yuma County, one tree says she married Henry Russell Boyd in 1892, and in 1900 they lived in Ringgold County, Iowa.

1901 Evans Colorado "Mr. and Mrs. Edie of Illinois, parents of Mrs. R.W. Devinney of Big Bend, are here visiting her."'

This Weld County bunch might be a different family Hugh Edie buried in Linn Grove, Greeley.

William J. Edie was born in Brooks county, West Virginia, January 24, 1829. William was reared in West Virginia, and assisted his father on the farm. In 1852 he graduated from Jefferson college, Pennsylvania, and taught school several months in that state. In 1853, he came to Illinois, and located in Vermont, Fulton county, where he taught a select high school for several terms. He, later, taught a select school at Lewistown, under the auspices of the Presbyterian church. During this period he was elected county surveyor, and filled the office with great acceptance for the period of two years. In 1865 he moved to McDonough county, and located on a farm of 240 acres, which he had purchased in 1864, in Walnut Grove township. He was elected county surveyor in 1869, but refused re-election. He was married February 24, 1858, to Sophia Irwin, daughter of the late Judge Irwin, and five children was the result of this union--Charlie, Irwin, Maggie E., Walter and William J. Mrs. Edie died March 30, 1866, and November 28, 1870, he married Evaline Harris. He owns 440 acres of land in McDonough county, all of which is under cultivation, besides 80 acres in Iowa. He makes stock-raising a specialty, and is reputed one of the best farmers in the county. He has held numerous township offices, and is considered an active, energetic citizen.

In 1880 William J. Edie, 51, is married to Evaline 43.  With them are Charles 21, Erwin (James I.?) 19, Maggie 18, Walter 16, Alexander 8, and Mary 7.

In 1900 Ringgold County Iowa Walter E. Edie Aug 1864 Illinois, has been married six years to Mary A. May 1865 in Ohio.  They have Rose Dec 1895, Mary Apr 1897, Irwin Sep 1898, and Willie H. two months - all four born in Iowa.

Henry and Margaret Boyd are on the same census page in 1900 Henry born Nov 1872, Margaret June 1872 have Margaret October 1893, John January 1896, and "Baby daughter" August 1899.

In Platt County, Illinois William H. Edie, who has been a citizen of Monticello since March 1901, died at his residence on West Marion Street last Friday morning, February 13, 1914. Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist Church in Cerro Gordo on Sunday with burial in Cerro Gordo Cemetery.

The deceased was born on a farm in Hancock County, Ohio on February 27, 1844. Both his parents died when he was a small boy, leaving a large family of children. The most of his early life was spent as a farm hand, though at one time he was bound out as an apprentice to a tanner. Later he enlisted as a private in Company L, 1st Ohio Heavy Artillery, and served his country until the close of the war. After the war he came to Illinois and obtained work as a farm hand near Cerro Gordo.

On October 9, 1867, he was married to Amelia J. Funk and the young couple soon after began farming for themselves. In later years he moved to Cerro Gordo and afterward to Monticello, but was continuously a citizen of Piatt County since coming here at the close of the war. Soon after his marriage, he was united with the Methodist Church and for many years was an active worker in that organization, though in later years the condition of his health greatly interfered with such service. He was especially interested in anything concerning the G.A.R., becoming a charter member of the Post at Cerro Gordo.

The deceased leaves surviving his widow and four sons. The boys are Walter and Charles of Decatur; and Fred and A.C. of Monticello.

In the Cerro Gordo cemetery is a Walter N. Edie 1872-1937 "on same stone as wife Georgia Edie."

In 1880 McDonough County, Illinois there's a Charles Edie 21, and Walter 16 with William J. and Evaline Edie.  Charlie was out in Saline County, Nebraska in 1885- laborer for the Christopher family

Charlie is back in McDonough County in 1900, married to Ida - born Jun 1870 nine years.  - so he could have married when he came back from Colorado.

In 1902 the Empire Ranch and Cattle Company sued John N. Caldwell, James I. Edie, and Charles A. Stillman regarding ownership of section 30.

1923 Akron "H.R. Cunningham received the sad news last week of his niece "Ida Edie, a young girl, who resided at Valpariso, Nebr.  She was burned to death June 3 while assisting her father in cooking dinner in a cook shack in a grading camp, whee he was working for the R.R. company...... Russell Cunningham, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harley Cunningham, is working on this same grading work where the accident occurred."''

Edie came to Monticello in  ......Ind also three brothers Fred L Edie Charles Edie and Walter N Edie all of Decatur Funeral service will be conducted 3 30 afternoon In the Presbyterian church by Rev M C Long by Rev J F ror Burial will be in Monticello

That's probably the stone in the Monticello Cemetery, Platt County, Illinois  "Edie Callie M. 1877-1982 -        Albert C. 1868-1929." "He leaves his wife and two sons: Burll A. Edie 1897-1972 of Monticello and Willie R. of Sheridan, IN."

In McDonough County Good Hope Cemetery there's a stone

"James I Edie died Aug 31, 1893 aged 32 ys 3 ms

His wife Alice Loretta Vansyckel died June 12 1911 aged 45 yrs 8 ms 11 dys.
