Cora M. (Freelove) Dowler, Bryant
In 1880 Carroll County, M.B. Freelove is 38, Mary A. 28, Cora 9, Arthur 6, Floyd 3, and Nettie nine months.
G.T. Dowler, age 29, married Cora Freelove, age 18 in Manning, Carroll County, Iowa on March 2, 1887. His pfather was Edward Dowler, her parents were M.B. Freelove and Mary Goundry.
1896 Manning, Iowa Monitor "Mr. M.B. Freelove died very suddenly at his home in this city on Wednesday morning. For a number of years he had been a great and constant sufferer with asthma, and it was this together with other complications that brought about his death. Mathias B. Freelove was born in the village of Rutland, Vermont, fifty-five years ago. In the fall of 1868 he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Gondra, and as a result of this union six children were born unto them, all of whom, except a son who died in youth, survive. They are Floyd, Nettie and Mamie, at home; Mrs. Cora Dowler, Manilla, and Arthur, a student at Valpariaso, Indiana. Mr. Freelove with his wife came to Carroll County twenty-six years ago, settling down in the town of Arcadia; Twelve years later the family came to Manning, where they have since resided. Mr. Freelove, although laboring under a disease which he well knew would sooner or later end his days here upon earth, always appeared to his friends on the bright side of life; always jovial and good-natured. He was kind to his family, and now that he is dead they can only hope for a reunion in another world. The funeral was held at 2:00 o'clock this afternoon from the late residence, Rev. George W. Wood officiating, and the remains were interred in the cemetery south of town."
Cora cash-claimed a quarter in section 26, 5N 48W in 1911.
Cora Dowler had divorced George Dowler in Yuma County in 1912.
July 1912 Manning, Iowa
The funeral of Mrs. George P. Kempf was held at the home of J.J. Kempf on Friday morning at 10:30 conducted by Rely. C.W. Hempstead. The remains were brought to Victor from Milwaukee on Thursday. Her death was a shock to the entire community since she had visited here but two weeks before her death and seemed improved. The sympathy of the community is extended to the husband a well known Victor boy, in his great sorrow.
Mae (Freelove) Kempf, was born in Manning, Iowa, June 10, 1883. Here she lived until womanhood, and in 1907 removed with her mother and sisters to Yuma, Colorado, where she was married to George P. Kempf on June 20, 1902, at Victor. They removed to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where Mr. Kempf is employed as a successful draughtsman with the C. M. and St. P. Railroad. She passed away at her home in that city on June 25, after a short illness, though her health had been impaired for several months.
She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, a daughter, Kathryn, her mother, two sisters and two brothers besides other relatives and friends. She had a sunny, happy disposition and made friends readily wherever she lived or chanced to be. A woman of many excellent qualities and will be missed by her friends. In her short life she sought things most "worth while" and the world of God was a source of comfort and help. We do not presume to fathom the mind of Infinitive and with truth we look up and say, "He doeth all things well." The remains were laid to rest in the family lot in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Among those from out of town to attend the funeral were,
Mrs. Mary Freelove, Mrs. Cora Dowler, Miss Nettie Burrows, of Yuma, Colorado;
Mr. and Mrs. A. Freelove, of Kennebec, South Dakota; Mrs. C. Kempf and Mrs. Minnie Dau, of Manning, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. N. Yochem, of Persia, Iowa; Mrs. Margaret Schafbuch, of Conroy; Mrs. H.F.
