He immediately filed a complaint against Frank Harriman charging him with assault with a deadly weapon. The alleged assault was made on September 16 but Clawson was not able to come to the county seat to file complaint against Harriman until the week following. The trouble between the two men was over a settlement of a business transaction. Their homes are in the vicinity of the Fayette Lamphere homestead and Mrs. Lamphere was called and dressed the man's wounds. Sheriff Bullard went out and brought Harriman into town on last Thursday. On Monday he was released from the county jail upon a bond given for his appearance in the October term of the district court, when his case will come up for hearing. The knife used was a corn knife and Clawson is said to have come near having his jugular vein severed.
