Mar 1881 Kansas. George registered for WWI in Mansfield, saying he was born Mar 2, 1881, nearest relative Anna May Hardy of Mansfield. Anna Hardy 1887-1924 and George 1881-1949 are buried in the Huntington cemetery, Sebastian County. George Ephraim Hardy, of Mansfield, Sebastian County, married Nancy Buchanan, 25, from LeFlore County, Oklahoma, March 16, 1924. He registered for WWII in Midland - still Sebastian County, saying he was born in Jay Hawker County Kansas In 1900 Cherokee Nation Evaline 59 is widowed, with Victor C., 22, farming.

Edwin proved up a quarter in 27, 5S 42W in 1897
Malissa M. Schutt proved up a quarter in 24, 5S 43W (about six miles away) in 1900.
In 1900 "Edward" D. Slayton, born June 1849 in New York, a farm laborer, is boarding with the James W. Cody family in Lansing precinct.
Melissa M. Schutt married Newton J. Webb March 21, 1895. (Newton J. Webb had divorced Francis E. Webb in 1894 in Yuma County)

1908 "Edward" Slayton, of Hale, was one of the witnesses for Terry W. Hill proving up land in section 23, 5S 43W.
He might be related to the D.F. Slayton who owned land in 2S 42W in 1922.
In 1915 Sherman County, Kansas E. D. Slayton is 66, New York, with M.M. Slayton 71, Illinois.
Goodland, Kansas Cemetery Malissa Melvina Taylor Slayton Malissa was also married to Warren L Schutt, and they had a daughter
named Amelia, who later married William Nelson Stafford. Amelia is
buried next to her mother and William is buried in Loveland Colorado.

In 1923 the Yuma County commissioners paid G.C. Wooley $15 for merchandise furnished Edward Slayton. They'd done the same in 1922.
