In 1880 Wayne County Illinois are Charles G. Crews 28, Emma J. Crews 22, Edwin T. Crews seven months, Casander Foster 16 servant, and William Crews, 18, at school.
"Heirs of Nancy J. Crews", mentioning a son William, completed a cash claim in 1894 for an irregular parcel in 8, 5S 42W, touching a cash-claim quarter of Phebe Crews in 1894 in section 18.
In an 1890 filing, L. E. Crews of Chicago, Illinois wrote that claimant Nancy J. Crews was stricken with paralysis in April 1889 "and has never taken a step since;" that she is very old and feeble, and it is absolutely impossible for her to go to the local office from her present home in Wayne county, Illinois.

There's a Lewis E. Crews in 1900 Chicago, Feb 1868 Illinois, married four years to Rose March 1869 in Michigan. Mattie Schaulz, sister-in-law April 1879 Michigan, is with them and later in Boulder and Longmont....
Nancy J. Crews - Feb 4, 1826 - Oct 3, 1891 "wife of Andrews Crews" is buried in Locust Grove cemetery Wayne County. Andrew Crews, Sep 1, 1822 - Nov 22, 1871 is also there.

In 1910 Yuma County William F. 47, and Phebe F. 46, both born in Illinois, were married at 24. Gladys 20, Colorado, Charles C, 17, Colorado, Fanney 13, Illinois, and Ida 13 Colorado are with them.
Lewis R. Crews proved up a parcel - mostly in section 8, in 1912, and Charles E. a parcel in 9 and 10 in 1915.
Lewis married Nora Hasselstine Winfrey March 24, 1916. (Edward N. and John R. Winfrey each claimed land in 5S 43W)
He registered for WWI in Yuma County, saying he was born July 1, 1887 in Culbertson Nebraska, and had a wife and child.
In 1920 Hale Lewis R 32 and Nora 22. have Aletha. 3 and Margerite eighteen months.
In 1930 Ralph and Nora H. have Aletha M. and Margaret H, and now William J. 3.
In 1940 Lewis and Nora are in Haigler, Nebraska, with just William J. 13.
Lewis Ralph Crews - 1887 -1981 and Nora H. Crews 1897 -1995 are buried in the Wray cemetery.
Nora Winfrey Crews was born August 13, 1897 to John and Nettie Winfrey in Carroll County, Missouri. She passed away March 13, 1995 at the age of 97 years, seven months. Nora moved with her family from Missouri to Kit Carson County, Colorado in 1907. On March 24, 1916 she was united in marriage to Ralph Crews. To this union four children were born. Ralph and Nora lived on a farm at Hale until 1922 when they moved to Wray. This remained their home except for nine years spent at the Haigler Ranch in Nebraska. In 1990 she moved to Cedardale Health Care Centre from her home at 421 Dexter Street. Nora was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the Wray United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph; son William and daughter Margaret Yowell; two grandchildren, Rick Yowell and Roni Grischy. She is survived by two daughters Aleatha Elsey of Denver and Carol Ann Starnes of Fremont, NE; daughter-in-law Bernice Crews of Wray; 17 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren and a sister, Mildred Smith of Denver. A private interment was held on March 18 at Grandview Cemetery with Rev. Bill Bruce officiating. SOURCE: The Wray Gazette, Wray Colorado. |
In 1920 William T. and Phebe Crews are on Kiowa Street in Wray with Ida H. 20, no occupation.
In 1930, on East Third street in Wray, just William and "Theba" They are in the Wray cemetery, both dying in 1938.
