" Richard Lee Clements, 87, of Garden City, Idaho passed away Tuesday, April 1st, 2014 at the VA Hospital with most of his family by his side.
He was born March 23, 1927 in Parks, Nebraska. Richard was the third child of seven born to Eugene Clements & Estella Speater.
Richard and his family moved from Nebraska to Richfield, Idaho, where he grew up a farm boy. In May 1945, Richard joined the Army and served in Germany until November 16, 1946 as a Private First Class. After leaving the military, Richard traveled back home to Richfield, Idaho to help on the farm.
In 1949 he married Betty V. Casper and they had four children. He later married Hilda Woodyard in 1971. He had various jobs throughout his life and retired as a maintenance engineer from the Boise School District. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 63 and the Moose Lodge #337.
Richard is survived by his children: Mitchell & Susan Clements of Cedar Rapids, IA, Peggy V. Clements of Garden City, ID, Melinda & Lloyd Squires of Brush Prairie, WA, and Clarence & Peggy S. Clements of Garden City, ID; his grandchildren: Kirk Pendergrass, Nikki & Casey Sorini, Lance & Alicia Clements & Christina Clements. Richard was also lucky to have been graced by four great grandchildren: Jordan Pendergrass, son of Nikki, Daniel, and Richard & Twila Clements, children of Lance & Alicia. He was also grandpa to many others.
Richard was preceded in death by his three brothers, three sisters and by his wife, Hilda. He was the last of his immediate family.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at 3:00 pm at the Idaho State Veteran's Cemetery.
