Henry C. Dachenhausen was born May 3, 1857, in Chicago, Ill., and died July 29, 1916, at Horton, Kan., at the age of 59 years, 2 months and 26 days. The deceased came to Kansas in an early day, stopping at Holton, in which place and neighboring community he made his home until the time of his death. Recently retired from the occupation of farming, Mr. and Mrs. Dachenhausen came to Whiting with the intention of making this their future home, at which place they united with the Methodist Episcopal church .... Mr. Dachenhausen was united in marriage May 23, 1886, to Miss Fredericka Braunbeck. To this union were born five children, who were present - Mrs. Bertha May of Howard, Kan.; Miss Minnie, Fred and Henry Dachenhausen, and Mrs. Paul Warning of Netawaka, Kan. .... There remain to mourn his loss, a wife, five children, one grandchild, three brothers and one sister. The sister and brothers are Mrs. Bertha Martin of Seattle, Wash.; Fred and Ed Dachenhausen of Topeka, and August Dachenhausen of Denison .... Burial was in the Holton cemetery.

April 1933 "Miss Jennie Oman and brother, Herbert, gave a party to their
friends Saturday evening. Those present were the Misses Erma and Ula Ranum,
Haziel Irvine, Ollie Fincher, Thelma Banaka, Anna Oman, Clara Likens,
Sylvia Fincher, and Howard Fuller, Harvey Nichols, Jesse Lewis, Charley Williams,
Paul Fincher, Pat Ethridge and Harold Banaka.
Lunch was served by the hostess and all left at a late hour reporting a
wonderful time. " (Jennie was my mother, Herbert an uncle, and Annie an aunt.)

"Mrs. Henrietta Els, aged seventy-six, died Monday night, January 24, 1944
at the home of her son Henry Els in the Cement neighborhood.
Mrs. Els had been a resident of this state for a number of years and had made her
home with her son. Short funeral services will be held at Holyoke with another
service and interment at her old home in Missouri.
Mrs. Els is survived by three children, Henry, Carl of Wray,
and Mrs. Sophia Krautchen of north of Wray."

February 1944 "H. H. Banaka received a message Monday night that his mother,
Mrs. Els of near Alvin had passed away. The remains were taken to Kansas for burial. We extend our sincre sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. Banaka. "
"Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Wm. J. Willcox, will be held Friday
afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Lockwood Mortuary for Mrs. H. H. Banaka,
resident of this community since 1919, who died Tuesday, September 4, 1951,
at her home 4 miles northwest of Wray. She had been in failing health for the
past two years, and in July 1949 suffered a stroke.
Minnie Dachenhausen was born on August 8, 1889, at Circleville, Kan.,
and was 62 years and 26 days old at the time of her death.
She was married to H. H. Banaka of Wray on December 28, 1919,
and came here to make her home.
Two children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Banaka. A son died in infancy on
April 23, 1921. A daughter, Mrs. Lorene Mattox of Denver, survives.
Besides the husband and daughter, survivors include
two sisters, Mrs. Martha Woming of Netawaka, Kan., and
Mrs. Bertha May of Topeka, Kan.; a brother, Fred Dachenhausen of Netawaka,
and a granddaughter, Diane Mattox of Denver.
Mr. and Mrs. Mattox came from Denver Saturday. Mr. Mattox returned to
Denver Monday and will return with their 3-year-old daughter for the services
tomorrow. Mrs. Woming will also come from Kansas to attend the rites."
December 21, 1961 "Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Lockwood
Mortuary for H. H. (Pete) Banaka, a resident of north of Wray since 1919,
who died at his farm home Tuesday of last week. The Rev. Willis C. Wirehart
officiated at the funeral service that was followed by burial in
Grandview cemetery.
Hugo Henry Banaka was born on August 3, 1889, at Netawaka. Kansas.
In 1918 he came to Wray and bought a farm north of Wray. On December 28, 1918,
he was married to Minnie Dachenhausen at Topeka, Kan., and the couple came here
the following year to establish their home. Mr. Banaka continued his residence
on the place until his death. Mrs. Banaka died in 1951.
The couple were the parents of two children, a boy who died in infancy,
and a daughter. Mrs. Lorene Mattox of Denver.
Besides his daughter, survivors include one granddaughter, Diane;
a brother, William Banaka of Wray; a sister, Mrs. Sophia Krautschen of Denver;
two half-sisters, Mrs. Caroline Enyeart of Toppenish, Wash., and
Mrs. Louise Morelli of St. Louis, Mo., and three half-brothers,
Carl Els of Max, Neb., Henry Els of Wray, and Fred Els of Topeka. Kan. "
