One of the rear wheels passed over his chest, breaking a rib and puncturing a lung. The fact that the lugs of the tractor were caked with mud and the ground soft prevented more serious injury. When he recovered his senses he staggered and crawled to the nearest farm house, a half mile distant, for help. He was brought to Yuma and remained at the home of a brother while his injuries were healing."
