Yuma County Pioneer Photographs:

Annie Shaffer , Pleasant Valley

Annie cash-claimed a quarter in 26, 4N 47W in 1891.

POSSIBLE:

Annie Schafer, born January 1865 in Germany, in Denver in 1900, widowed, running an apartment house, with Olinda March 1884 and Lillian Feb 1886, both born in Colorado.  Annie immigrated in 1884.

Anna Schafer married Arthur M. Hamilton October 12, 1904, recorded in Jefferson County, Colorado.

In 1910 Anna Hamilton, 40, married twice, is a hotel landlady.  Daughter Lillie M. Schafer, 22, born in Colorado, is with her.

POSSIBLE:  Annie Shaffer Davenport 1860-1946 buried in Denver Fairmount  55093299, daughter of Julia Shaffer # 55093300 1835-1924  - but they were in Baltimore Maryland in 1880 and 1900.  In 1920 Denver Anna R. Davenport is 58 widowed, with son Walter S. Hine 34 widowed, daughter Helen C. Hine 32 single, and mother Julia Shaffer, widowed, 84.    All four were in Denver in 1910, too.

If this Annie were in Maryland in 1888 when Helen was born, it's not likely she'd be in Yuma County in 1890.

Also in 1888, Mrs. Wm. Shafer and Mrs. Jenkins and little daughter (mother and sister of Mrs. W.E. Johnson) arrived from Mt. Pleasant Ia to make an extended visit.

William Johnson cash-claimed land in 33, 9N 47W in 1891- that's Phillips County, about twenty miles north of Annie Shaffer's claim.
