Aaron V. Oldham, Pleasant Valley

The Oldhams were in Eddyville, Iowa in 1868, where Ida was born.  So they probably knew the Scribner families.

In 1880 Nuckolls County, Nebraska, George C. 46 and Martha J. 43, both born in Indiana, have Adam J. 22, Aaron V. 21, Lucy J. 19, son Arah 17, daughter L.D.K. 15, Ida M. 13, and Olive V. 11 - all kids born in Iowa.

George Conner Oldham - Served in Company C, 13th Iowa Infantry in the Civil War -
1834-1912 is buried in Fairfield, Nuckolls County, # 28752470, with Martha Jane (Grimes) Oldham 1837-1917.

If this is Conrad Roberts and  his son Samuel Edward Roberts of Nuckolls County, Nebraska, they didn't make the move - Conrad was in Clay County Nebraska in 1900 and died in California, Samuel went back to Indiana.

Aaron cash-claimed a quarter in 12, 4N 47W in 1891.

Aaron is in Los Angeles in 1897 voter registration, a farmer.

In 1900 Los Angeles County, Aaron is a day laborer, married 2 years to Susie M. Sept 1870 New York.  Her father John Wright, April 1817 in England, is with them, immigrating in 1844.

In 1910 Los Angeles County, Aaron is farming, 51, married 12 years to Susie M. 39, New York, with John C. 9, California.  The public school principal is boarding with them.

In 1920 Los Angeles, Aaron is a truck driver, Susie no occupation.

In 1930 Los Angeles, Aaron and Susie are alone, no occupations.

Susie is widowed in 1940 Los Angeles, no occupation, with a boarder.

Wife of Aaron V. Oldham, married 26 August, 1897. Son John Conner Oldham born 28 August 1900.
Aaron Oldham died in 1936 and Susie married Carl Davis in 1942. It is said she was an "excellent baker" according to the Ledger-Gazette, she started baking bread in Lancaster. "She worked up her business until she was putting out 95 loaves, which she baked in an outdoor oven. She started making her own yeast cake, which she sold in Lancaster and Los Angeles under the trade name Queen Yeast." She was also a member of the Women's Relief Corps in Lancaster.

Aaron's SISTER:   October 25, 1945 Nelson, Nebraska

Ida Mae Brandenburg was born near Eddiville, Iowa, March 14, 1868, and departed this life at her home in Fairfield October 3, 1945. She came with her parents, Geo. on a homestead in Nuckolls county in on a homestead in Nuckolls county in 1873. In this vicinity she grew to womanhood. She was married to Val Brandenburg, April 21, 1895. To this union was born one son, Homer, who preceded her in death several years ago. She became a Christian in 1893 uniting with the church at Deweese. She transferred her membership from Deweese to Fairfield when moving here over 35 years ago. She has remained faithful to the church and her Savior. One of her greatest joys was in serving and attending the church services. Her going leaves but one living member of that early Christian pioneer family, a sister, Mrs. Lucy La Bounty of Bellingham, Wash. Her parents, three brothers, Adam, Aaron and Arah Oldham, and two sisters, Mrs. L.D.R. Norwood and Mrs. Olive King, have gone on before

Aaron's brother Arah H. Oldham 1863-1930 is also buried in Fairfield. "Laura Keeney married Arah Oldham of Deweese NE and they had a son named Irvin"
