It was here he grew to manhood, having received his education in the local schools and found great interest and happiness in the life of a farmer. He was a veteran of World War I. After this he located at Yuma, Colo., where he remained until poor health caused him to go to Iowa to make his home with his brothers and sisters. He was a quiet, home-loving disposition, forming many close friendships throughout his lifetime. Very notable was his friendship with children and they gave him many hours of pleasure until his sickness advanced to where he could only listen for their voices at play and watch them from his window. He will be greatly missed by these friends. He has been a patient sufferer for the past six years and every effort possible was made that he might retain his health but to no avail, and he was comforted by thoughts of the home where all suffering ends.
