Henry and Annie Holder , Waverly

Possible: : Henry William Holder christened April 1839 at St. Andrews, Clifton, Gloucester, England., father William Henry Holder, mother Maria Adelaide Holder.  William Henry Holden had married Marie Adelaide Thomas in 1838 in St. James, Bristol, Gloucester - father James Holden - her father Richard Thomas.  They had Emely Maria Holden Nov 27, 1842.

In 1880 Grundy County, Illinois, Henry Holder is farming, 41, single.

Henry cash-claimed a quarter, in 26, 4N 47W in 1890, proved up one in 1893, and timber-claimed one in 1898.

In 1898 Mr. and Mrs. Henry Holder were among those at the J.A. Conley residence, where a big dinner was served and many water-melons slaughtered.

In 1900 Magee precinct, Yuma County, Henry born March 1839 in England, immigrating 1848, married eight years to Annie Feb 1859 Wisconsin, are farming.

One tree said that Henry Holder died Sept 14, 1915, and was buried in the Washington Kansas city cemetery, married Hester Anna Shaffer,  that she was born February 1844.  Another said she was the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Shaffer, born Feb 1844 in Lafayette Wisconsin.

In 1850 Lafayette County, Wisconsin, Peter is 51, Elisabeth 40, with Rufus 21, Henry Clay Shafer 18, John M. 17, Mary P. 14, Frederic L. 13, Hester A. 11, James A. 10, Emily 8, and George P. 6.

In 1860 Lafayette County, Peter is 53, Pufell (male) 30, Henry 26, Fredrick 22, Westeran 19  (That is probably Hesteran) , Emily 18, and George J. 14.

1901 "Henry Holder's wind mill went to pieces in last week's wind."

One year the Old Settlers picnic was at his place - for the last 100 years it's been in Eckley.

1904 Yuma "Henry Holder is supplying the market with roastid' ears."

April 21, 1905

1905 Yuma "Mr. and Mrs. Henry Holder left the latter part of last week for their new home at Haddem, Kansas."

1905 "Henry Holder says that he and Mrs. Holder have removed from Haddam, Kansas, to Washington, Kansas."

1906 "E. Loring sold the Henry Holder ranch this week to G.W. Billsbarrow of Wolverton, Minn.  Consideration $4,000.

In 1910 Henry, 71 and Annie 49 are in Washington County, Kansas, "own income"  Annie has not had any children.  Here they say they've been married 33 years - that would put the marriage at 1877

The Washington City Cemetery records have Henry Holder 1839-1911 # 40309053 and Hester A. Holder 1841-1915.   # 40309062   That sure doesn't match the two census dates of birth for Hester....
