Joseph Creidler / Cridler and John G. and Laura (Gray) Kussmaul, Pleasant Valley

Joseph cash-claimed a quarter in 22, 4N 47W in 1890, joining John G. Kussmaul and Charles H. Andrews and Jesse E. Scofield.

(John G. Kussmaul, a minor, was naturalized in Kendall County, Illinois October 25, 1880, witnesses Christopher Kussmaul and Margret Ambuster)

Christopher Kussmaul married Mary Cridler June 15, 1880 in Kendall County.

In 1900 Kendall County, Chris, farming,  born June 1845 in Germany, and Mary Nov 1858 in Illinois, have John Oct 1880 and Edward C. April 1883, both Illinois.  So he's too young -  

 Alexander Gray 1827-Rhode Island- died 1903 in Marseilles , Illinois and Ellen Mary Beardsley 1841-Connecticut died 1906 in Tonganoxie Kansas.

Alexander and Ellen are buried in Riverview Cemetery, LaSalle County # 32821963.

 HAS TO BE:   John G. Kussmaul that married Lora M. Gray in 1887 in La Salle County, Illinois.  He might be a cousin of the Christopher Kussmaul.

 In 1900 Lasalle County, John G. Kusmaul is a baker, born Oct 1859 in Germany, with Laura M. August 1869. They have Chas. A. June 1889 and Hattie M. January 1891 BOTH COLORADO.

"In warm summer twilights, householders trimmed their roses, watered their lawns, and sat rocking gently on their porches. Later in the evening they might stroll down to Orsi's new ice cream parlor, to sit on stiff little metal chairs around small tables. Kusmaul's Bakery began to serve ice cream in the evening, and drug stores put in "soda fountains."

 

In 1910 La Salle County, John 51 and Laura 41, have Charles 21, Hattie 19, and Gray 3.

Charles A. Kusmaul registered in East Moline, Ill, born June 11, 1889 at Yuma, Colorado, was a machine operator, married .

In 1920 La Salle County, Jno. G. Kusmal, born about 1859, immigrating in 1867, and Leora, 1869, Illinois, have Jno. H. 19, Gray A. 12 , both born in Illinois.

In 1920 Rock Island, Illinois, Hattie M. Maddox , 30 born in Colorado, is married to Alex G. Maddox, a street-car motorman, 36, born in Louisiana. THIS IS A DIFFERENT ONE - HER MOTHER WAS EVA HARONEY.

In 1920 Chicago, Harriet Kusmaul is 29, born in Colorado, single, a correspondent for a machine shop.

If she's the Harriett Clermont married to Horace J. Clermont in 1930 Chicago, (he died in 1937, buried at Graceland Jan 20-1885 Aurora Illinois, died in Chicago Sep 3, 1937) she MIGHT be the one in 1940 Dutchess County, New York, a resident at the state hospital.

In 1940 Dutchess County, New York, Laura, 71, is widowed, living with son Gray.  She was in Maxville, Cook County , Illinois in 1935.

In 1942 Rock Island, Illinois, Leora is widow of John, at 328 15th with Chas A Kusmaul (Frieda M.)

John and Laura M. (Gray) Kusmaul are buried in Riverview Cemetery, LaSalle County 33145321 -1858-1925 Born in Soellingen, Baden, Germany to George Jacob Kusmaul and Katherine Elizabeth Muszing. He was a Baker for most of his life.   Laura was born 1868 and died 1962.  # 33145343
Christopher 1846-1910 is buried in Cowdrey Cemetery, Kendall County # 22317809.  So is Mary (Kridler) Kussmaul  # 22317832  (the 1858 death date probably should be the birth date)  and John H. Kusmaul 1900-1979   #  33145334

Joseph Creidler was in the 1890 Denver directory, a laborer, with Louis Dugal.

  Joseph Cridler, born about 1864, in Kendall County Illinois with parents John 39 and Barbet 37 Cridler.  Siblings are Mary 10, Ann 8, Louisa 5, Catherin 4, Emily 1, and Henry Cridler 21.

Joseph, born about 1865 to John Cridler, married Lillian Whittingham in Kane County January 27, 1904.

In 1910 Elgin, Illinois, Joe Cridler is an engineer at a gravel pit, 41, born in New York, with Lillian 40 England - they've been married seven years,   she's had two children, none living.  Sister Ada Whittingham, 42, England, single,  is with them.

Residential structures in Elgin, Illinois with components made of ornamental concrete block. 770 Hammond ,Style: porch wall; 1st City Directory listing: 1917; primary block: rock face 8"x16"; first owner: Joseph? Cridler; Cridler lived on the north side of the street.

Joseph, Lillian, and Ada are in Hanover, Cook County in 1920.

Lillian, born January 29, 1863 in England to James Whittingham and Elizabeth Oldfield, a watch worker, died July 2, 1946 in Elgin, to be buried in Bluff City Cemetery.  # 131132036.

Joseph   Cridler 1864-1940 is buried in Bluff City  # 131132035
