John S. Woodburn, Fox
Possibly the John Woodburn who married Emma Jane Johnson March 11, 1891 in
Rock Island County, Illinois.
John cash-claimed a quarter in 24, 4S 46W in 1891, next to Charles Edward, Elmer Buchtel, Charles Peek, and John F. Hull the same year.
In 1900 they're in Rock Island County, and in 1910 they're still farming there, with John Jr. 18, Hugh 15, Laura 13, Grace 9, and Mabel 7. - all kids born in Illinois.
The timing works, and John had a son John S. Woodburn, and his father was Stephen Woodburn. John Born Oct 16, 1863, died Sep 2, 1944, and is buried in Rock Island County. 75702242
I can tell you almost anything you want to know about those
Woodburns. I grew up on the farm in Rock Island County that Stephen
Sr.'s son Samuel bought in 1903, Maple Wood Farm, and my parents still
live there. Stephen and many of his descendants are buried nearby in a
small country cemetery named Pleasant Point. I found your voice teacher's name in a book I have on the descendants of Benjamin and Mary Hamilton Wreath. One of their daughters was Isabella, wife of Stephen. The book has several photos of Isabella and Stephen and their family. The author of the original note in this thread, Nancy Woodburn Schrecongost, is the expert here. She traced even further back from Stephen and actually visited the place in Northern Ireland where he came from. I'll contact you through e-mail to find out the best way to get my info to you.
