JACOB

In 1900 Turner County, South Dakota, Jacob, born Dec 1884, is with parents Cornelius and Maria, with siblings Cornelius 19, Tobias 17, Mary 12, Henry 7, and Florentina 3.

They probably were relatives of the Mennonite Daniel Unruh, who led a group of Prussian Mennonites to the U.S. in 1874.

In 1905 South Dakota Jacob Unruh is single, 21.
 

He might be in two states in the 1910 census - in South Dakota there's a Jacob, 24, with Cornelius and Maria, both 53, with Tobias, 27, Henry 18, Flora Lena 13, and Maria Loawen, 86, Maria's mother.

In 1910 Kirk precinct Jacob, 25, born in South Dakota, is single.

Jacob proved up on a quarter in 28, 4S 47W in 1912, witnesses Nettie Smith, Ed. Smith, Walter Thompson, and Charley Kern.

Jacob was a private in the WWI army company with Marcus Graves.

CORNELIUS

In 1910 Cornelius Unrun, 21, is a hired hand in Marion County, South Dakota.

Cornelius J. Unruh registered in Jitney, Montana, saying he was born Feb 9, 1889 in Marion Jct., South Dakota, and had a total disability.

In 1930 Cornelius J. Unruh, 40, born in South Dakota, is in Kirk precinct, a feed grinder for a stockyard.

In 1940 Cornelius is single, running a poolroom in Kirk, living alone.

Cornelius Jake Unruh, Feb 9, 1889 - Aug 25, 1954 is buried in Glendale, Vernon.  FindAGrave has his spouse Nellie Jane (Thomas) Unruh - 1925-2004

Nellie J. Unruh, 78, of Denver. Mother of Robert Lee Unruh. Nellie will be missed by many other relatives and friends. Funeral Service Saturday, 9:30 a.m., His Love Fellowship Church, 910 Kalamath St. Interment Vernon, Colorado.
