In 1900 Smith County George F. born Dec 1846 in Ohio, has been married 30 years to Margaret E. August 1862 Ohio. She's had 8 kids, 7 living. With them are J. William July 1872, Addie M. Sept 1874 (widowed), Harvey T. Feb 1882 - these three born in Iowa, Frederick A. Nov 1888, Clarence May 1889, and Goldie J. Nov 1896, these three born in Kansas.
On the same page is Earnest Newbrey, Jan 1878 Iowa, married to Ella Nov 1880 Kansas, with son Ora B. born Oct 1899 in Kansas.
George died in 1908 - the same year that Harvie Newbrey filed on a quarter in 17, 5S 49W - just over the line in Washington County. Harvey was in Smith County in 1910, for registering, and in 1920, so it looks like they just came to Colorado long enough to claim land. He never proved up on that land - perhaps sold his pre-emption.
One tree says George died May 9, 1908 in Washington County, Colorado.
In 1910 Smith County Margret is widowed, only Clarence and Goldie with her.
Maggie "widow of George Newbrey" proved up on a quarter in 13, 4S 47W in 1914. Geo. Newbrey owned that quarter in 1922.
In 1920 Smith County Margaret is widowed, with Goldie J. 23 - no occupation.
Goldie and Margret are still together in 1930 Smith County.
George 1847-1908 and Maggie 1852-1938 Newbrey are buried in Leasburg Cemetery, Smith County.
