John and Emily (Slater) Light, Fox
Emily J. Slater in 1870 is with her parents in Blackford, Indiana. One brother, Aaron, was in Colorado for the 1885 census, with an aunt or uncle, so they came west about the same time.
Possibly the John Light in 1880 Clear Creek County, 27, born in Canada, living with his brother William,, 29 and his wife Annie 26 and their kids Flora 2 and Jane 1. (Jennie Slater, 19, born in Indiana, is a servant in the house)
John Light married June Slater April 2, 1882 in Gilpin County, Colorado.
In 1885 John and June, with Chas 2 and Minnie 1 are in Clear Creek County. George is 3, after two boarders. The household preceding is Rob Slater 50, and Lucy 48.
John cash-claimed a quarter in 23, 4S 46W in 1891 - along with many others in the south part of that township.
John is a teamster in 1900 Clear Creek County, born June 1853 in Michigan, with Jane born July 1860 in Indiana. They have George A. Aug 1883 Michigan, Walter May 1890, Mary H. Nov 1892, Cleo Oct 1895, all born in Colorado, and Rachel Nov 1897 Indiana.
In 1910 Clear Creek County Jane is widowed, and with her are Walter - a timber hauler -, Mary H. Cleo B., Rachel L., and John L. 7. George A., 26, a gold miner, and Ida B. 33 are the next household.
John Light - Sep 6, 1856 - Aug 4, 1907 and Emily J. (Slater) Light are buried in Bald Mountain cemetery, Gilpin County. So is a John L. Light - 1903-1984.
Brother - buried in Bald Mountain -William Light died 1887 aged 37, and Anna died 1887 aged 30.
