WARRINGTON

"William Pike, on part of whose land Johnston City was built, began his land entries in 1837. "

In 1850 Williamson County, Illinois, William Pike is 62, Lucinda 45, William P. 2q1, W"Warren" 19, Thomas 16, Malinda 14, Elizabeth A. 12, Elijah 10, and George W. 3.

"Warrenton" Pike and Elizabeth Duncan married in Williamson County, Illinois on January 4, 1852.

Elizabeth was the daughter of Frederick F. Duncan and Susan Spiller, who had married in Franklin County Illinois on August 23, 1839.
She was with them in 1850 Williamson County, Illinois, F.F. 37, Susannah 28, Sidney B. 10, Franky 7, Dudley 5, Eliza S. 2,a nd Sarah newborn.
Frederick F. Duncan and Elvira Reed married in Franklin County in 1858, so Susan musht have died.

In 1870 Marysville, Marshall County, Kansas, "Wilder" is a stone mason, 38, Elizabeth 33, Sarah J. 15, William D. 12, Priestly A. 9, George E. 6, and Nancy A. ten months.

In 1880 Marysville, W.S. is 48, Elizabeth 44, Priestly 19, George E. 15, Annie 11, and Ella M. 6.

In 1910 Jasper County Missouri, W.T. Pike, 52, widowed, a stone mason, has daughter Laura, 22, born in Kansas.

Priestley's father Warrington Pike is buried in the Kirk cemetery, "Father of Sarah Clair", who is buried next to him.    Priestley's mother Elizabeth - July 16, 1831- May 25, 1895 is buried in Marysville Kansas 72253322

W.S. Pike 65 and Elizabeth 59 are next to son Will in 1895 Marysville, Kansas.

SARAH

In 1880 Marshall County, Kansas, John Clair has no occupation, 27, with Sarah 25. William is 5, Joseie E. 3, and May ten months.

Jasper Minion Clair, born about 1893 in Osborne County Ohio? to John Clair and Sarah Jane Pike, married Ida Blanch Gourd on Oct 1, 1915 in Adams County, Iowa.

In 1900 Osborne County, Kansas, John Clair is farming, born May 1852 in Iowa, married 25 years to Sarah J. Nov 1854 Illinois. Georgia July 1886, Roy B. Oct 1888, John N. Jan 1890, Jasper Oct 1892, and Ethel R. Jan 1898 were all born in Kansas.
Sarah Jane (Pike) Clair is buried in Kirk Nov 8, 1854-Jan 12, 1932 # 67354344 with John May 2, 1852 - Feb 5, 1929. John had proved up on a quarter in 35, 5S 46W in 1914.)

NANCY

Nancy (Pike) Koons 1869-1947 is buried in Wright County, Missouri # 54255149.
" Nancy was born in Kansas, the daughter of Warren and Elizabeth Duncan Pike. She married Whitson West.
She died from a blood clot in her heart at the age of 77 yrs old. Whitson preceded her in death.
MO death cert. #16221"

FRANKLIN'S FAMILY

In 1900 Franklin Benjamin, born Dec 1886 in Nebraska, is with parents George 52 and Tabitha 48 in Hitchcock County, Nebraska.  Siblings Silas Marion, Sep 1869, Thomas Mar 1879, Grover Oct 1884, and Mertie Reddy (wife of James Reddy in 1910 Dodge County Nebraska)

1909 Yuma "Frank E. Benjamin of Fox was a business visitor to our town Thursday."

In 1910 Kirk precinct Frank is 23, single, born in Nebraska.



PRIESTLY

In 1910 Tuttle, Kit Carson County, Edith Pike is 17, with Priestley 48 and Victoria 38 Pike, and newborn Logan Pike.

FindAGrave  93947903 says Victoria Augusta (Nowak) married Priestly Pike Sept 5, 1898 in St. Benedict, Kansas, and Victoria is buried in Seneca, Nemaha County, Kansas - Mar 13, 1872 - Mar 22, 1952.




WILLIAM

Warrington's son William Dudley Pike - Nov 20, 1857 in Williamson County, Illinois, died April 21, 1937, and is also buried in Kirk. 67354649. 

Elizabeth Duncan Pike - Jul 16, 1831 - May 25, 1895 is buried in Marysville  72253322

He married Caroline Louise Ellis in Marysville, Kansas April 9, 1877. In 1895 Marshall County Kansas Will Pike 37 and Carrie L. 35 - both born in Missouri, have Alfred 10 and Goldie 7, both born in Kansas.  

In 1900 Marysville, Kansas, William D. born Nov 1858 in Illinois, and Carrie Feb 1859 Illinois, have Dollie J. Oct 1885, Laura B. Mar 1888, and Ollie M. Jan 1890 - all three girls born in Kansas.

One tree said Caroline died Oct 4, 1904 in Jasper County, Missouri.

In 1910 Jasper County Missouri, W.T. Pike, 52, widowed, a stone mason, has daughter Laura, 22, born in Kansas. 

But the 1900 census has a George born May 1863 in Kansas, married to Laura E. July 1867 Missouri, with Alfred E. April 1885, Goldie E. Feb 1889, and Margetha Mar 1892, all born in Kansas.  Maybe the kids were just living with a relative in 1895.....

In 1910 Marysville George E. is 46, Laura E. 40, Golde E. 21, and Marietta 18.

In 1920 William was living with his daughter Laura B. Vickery and her husband George in Kit Carson County, and in 1930 he's running a shoe repair shop in Stratton, 73, widowed.

George and Laura have moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma by 1932.

George and Laura B. Vickrey 1888-1970 are buried in Osage County Oklahoma  15928721

Priestley proved up on land in section 2, 6S 46W - just over the line in Kit Carson County - in 1913, and Warrenton S. Pike in section 21, 6S 46W in 1916.

 (Priestley, Victoria, and Logan are still in Kit Carson County in 1920, but had moved to Atwood Kansas by 1930.  They're still there in 1940, with Logan married to Beth, born about 1918 in Nebraska.  The 1940 index has Priestley as "Peter Piko")


FRANK AND EDITH

Frank proved up on 320 acres in 11, 4S 47W in 1913.  This land was just south of the Arickaree, where earlier claims had taken the river bottoms, so it was oddly shaped.  Witnesses were Edward J. Smith, Perry P. Wise, George W. Pryor and Walter Miller.

 Franklin married Edith Mae Pike March 15, 1915 at Tuttle, Colorado, performed by Roy Jones, JP of Stratton, Colorado.

Franklin Elden Benjamin registered with a Kirk address, saying he was born Dec 1, 1886 in Brownville, Nebraska, and had a wife.

In 1920 Frank is in Kit Carson County, 33, married to Edith 28, born in Kansas.  They have Elden 22 months, and Fayetta 7 months, both kids born in Colorado.

They're back in Hitchcock County in 1930, with Elden E., Fayetta I., and Dallas D. 6, born in Colorado.

One tree says Fayetta Irene Benjamin was born April 15, 1919 in Stratton, Colorado, and married Virgil A. Green April 12, 1938 in Hitchcock County, Nebraska.

In 1940 Frank and Edith are still farming in Hitchcock County, with Eldon driving a truck for the CCC, and Dallas no occupation.

Franklin E. Benjamin - Dec 1, 1886-Dec 28, 1977 is buried in Trenton, Nebraska. 70160051.  So is Edith Mae - Mar 4, 1892 - Jan 13, 1966, Dallas D. Jan 27, 1924 - Sep 26, 1993.

ELLA

Ella Pike, 19, married Christ Babion 22, on Sept 20, 1892 in Marshall County, Kansas.

Christ G. Babeon claimed a tract in section 20, 6S 45W in 1916 (Kit Carson County).

In 1920 Kit Carson County, Christ Babeon is farming, 50, with Ella M. 46, George C. 18, Venessia M. 14, and Eugene 10.

In 1930 Kit Carson County, next to William Pike, widowed, are Christ G. Babeon 60 born in Germany, with Ella M. 55, George C. 28, Venessa 24,and Eugene S. 20, all four born in Kansas.
Christ is a shoe repairman.

George C. Babeon and Nettie Welbur married in Kit Carson County on April 21, 193.
George, born Sept 30, 1901, died in December 1977.

Eugene S. Babeon, 29, married Pearl Maag in Greeley, Colorado on October 20, 1938.
Eugene, born April 19, 1909, died in December 1982.

In 1961 Everett W. Scholleser and Venessa are living at 448 S. Downing, Denver. He's an engineer.

Venessia M. Schlosser, born July 18, 1905, died September 15, 1999.

In 1940 Christ, Ella, and daughter Vanessa are in Cheyenne County, Colorado.

JAMES AND OLLIE (PIKE) DAFFER

Ollie and James S. Daffer were in Shannon County Missouri in 1910 and 1920, but are farming in Kit Carson County in 1930, and in 1940, with a bunch of kids.  There's a J.S. Daffer buried in Kirk, with no dates.  67354391  - maybe James was the owner of the plot, not the person buried....

Olive M. Daffer, born Jan 10, 1890, died Nov 2, 1962 in San Francisco.  Probably the one buried in Modesto   38776610 with James S. - Oct 8, 1883 - Jan 10, 1947.

Hellen Louise (Daffer) Austin, 81, DeSoto, Kan., passed away October 28, 2012, at the Kansas City Hospice House.   Internment at Shawnee Mission Memorial Gardens.  Mrs. Austin worked for Sunflower Army Ammunitions Plant, DuPont, and Butler Construction Company. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loyal Dean Austin. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Keehn and her husband Rob and Evelyn Smith and her husband Bill; a son, Jim Austin and his wife Tammy; eight grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; brother, Raymond Daffer and sister, Opal Souza, both of Klamath Falls, Oregon; and numerous nieces; nephews and cousins.
 

Harold Edwin Daffer, son of James and Olive Daffer, passed away Dec. 3, 1997 in Puyallup. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Louise Ramsey Daffer , in March of this year. Survivors include his children Eloise Daffer Dahl, Reid Daffer, Sallye Daffer Johnston, Linda Daffer Dickson and Michael Daffer; 12 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter, sisters Judy Inselman, Opal Souza and Helen Austin; brothers Ray, Ralph and Sherry Daffer and numerous nieces and nephews.   Interment at Mountain View Memorial Park, Lakewood.  Tacoma News Tribune Pub Date: 12/7/1997

Opal O. Daffer was 14 in 1940.

Sherry Terrell Daffer, 80, born Stratton Colorado, died Washington State June 2004.

Jan. 19, 1924 to June 18, 2004 Beloved husband, father, granddad, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Sherry Terrell Daffer was born January 19, 1924 in Stratton, Colorado, the 8th of 11 children born to James and Olive Daffer. He served in the US Navy during WWII, an experience he would always remember. After the war, while living in California,
Sherry met and married Shirley Jefferis before returning to Colorado to start their lives together.
In 1957, they moved with their 3 young daughters to Puyallup. Shortly thereafter, they established rootson 10 acres in the Graham Area. They joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1961 (one of the 6 original member families in Graham), and have been active members ever since. Sherry served in numerous church positions over the years and gave
countless hours of service to those needing help. After retiring from Hygrade after nearly 25 years, he and his wife Shirley served a one-year, full-time mission for the Church in the Nevada Las Vegas Mission. They served an additional 5 months here locally upon their return. Sherry was also known by many throughout his life for his twinkly eyes, his
friendship and his good sense of humor. He shared his testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with many andwas loved by all. His family will miss him dearly. Sherry is survived by Shirley, his beloved wife andcompanion of 55 years; 4 daughters, Sharon (Jeff) Andrews, Debra (Jeff) Hochstrasser, Terri (Lee) Snider and Laurie (Lane) Smith; 20 grandchildren, 11
great-grand-children, 3 sisters, 2 brothers, many nieces and nephews and wonderful friends. He is preceded in death by his father, mother, 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Services will be held Friday, June 25th,11 a.m. at the LDS Church in Graham (6901 E. 224th).

Ralph H. Daffer - Oct 22, 1921 - June 20, 2006 is buried in Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery. 72045698

Ethelyn LaVanque Daffer was born on 16 May 1919 at Birchtree, Shannon County, Missouri She was the daughter of James Sherry Daffer and Olive May Pike. Ethelyn LaVanque Daffer married, at age 18, Garfield Gottlieb Schlichenmayer, age 22, son of Jacob Schlichenmayer and Christina Breitling, on Tuesday, 9 November 1937 at Burlington, Kit Carson County, Colorado Ethelyn LaVanque Daffer died on 5 June 1994 at Escalon, San Joaquin County, California, at age 75 years and 20 days.      She was widowed at age 41 by the death of Garfield on 12 June 1960.

 

The funeral service for Jessie May “Judy” Inselman, 92, will be held Saturday, March 31, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Don Tines will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
 
 Judy was born June 12, 1914, in Birch Tree, Mo., to James and Olive May Pike Daffer and died March 27, 2007, in Enid, Okla.
 
 She married C.E. “Erle” Inselman, April 9, 1938, in Reno, Nev. They moved to Enid from Modesto, Calif. in 1948. He passed away December 13, 2004.
 
 Judy was a den mother and a stay-at-home mother. She enjoyed cooking and knitting. She attended Davis Park Christian Church.
 
 She is survived by her four sons, Bob Inselman and wife Nancy of Enid, Earl Inselman and wife Shirley of Troup, Texas, David Inselman and wife Marilyn of Ponca City, Okla. and Ron Inselman and wife Debbie of Parker, Colo.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Opal Souza of Escalon, Calif., and Helen Austin of Desota, Kan.; and one brother, Ray Daffer of Roseburg, Ore.
 
 She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Erle, four brothers and four sisters.
