George M. Anway, Joes
| Erastus W. Anway was baptized a member of the Reorganized Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on 18 May 1884 at Des Moines, Polk,
Iowa, by C. F. Merrill. He was confirmed by E. Banta and W. N. Ray.
Erastus attended scattered branches in Iowa, including the Des Moines
and Des Moines Valley branches. He also attended the Cottonwood,
Nebraska Branch and the Missouri branches at John's Mill and Ava. He
died from abscess of the kidneys. Erastus, born Nov 1837 in Delaware County, Ohio, married Mary A. Scott 1866, and died Oct 1912 in Summit Oklahoma, buried in Rhodes Cemetery. Mary Angeline Scott, born Mar 1842 in New York, married William H. Riddle 1859, and then Erastus W. Anway 1866. |
In 1880 Story County Iowa George M. "Amvay" is 1, youngest of six kids of Erastus W. 43 and Mary 38.
They're in Polk County, Iowa, in 1885. Erastus - a blacksmith -, Mary, James F. 13, Chas 11, Geo 5, Lulia 18 and Corrie 14.
In 1900 Douglas County Missouri E.W. is 62, Mary A. 58, Geo. M. born June 1879 in Iowa, with Orval McClain (this McClain is crossed out), born April 1891 in Kansas, grandson. Also is Almy Anway (son ?????) born Nov 1894 in Missouri.
Erastus, Mary, and son Alma are in Coal County, Oklahoma in 1910.
In 1914 and 1916 Des Moines, Iowa Mary A. (Wid Erastus W.) Anway is living at 1828 Raccoon.
Mary Anway, born March 29, 1842, died in Polk County Iowa March 19, 1918.
"Elmer" Anway, 23, born in Missouri, is a laborer at an elevator in 1920 Des Moines, rooming with the widow Julia L. Prock. He married Pearl,, born about 1902 in Iowa, and they're living with Julia in 1930 with two sons.
One tree said George married Frances Duncan in 1906, had Nathan George Anway Jan 3, 1907 in Colorado (Nathan died Jun 30, 1928 in Canon City), and Duncan Manly Anway Feb 29, 1908 in Colorado (Duncan died Mar 22, 1981 in San Mateo, California)
In 1910 he's farming in Kirk precinct, saying he's been married four years, but no wife listed.
George M. Anway sued Frances E. Anway in Yuma County in 1919, for divorce on the ground of desertion.
His wife might be the Francis Anway in Fremont County in 1910, 20, born in Canada, divorced, with two children - none with her. She's a waitress in a hotel. Wonder if she's the one SSDI has born June 13 1889, dying April 1964, last residence California.

In 1920 Nathan 13 and Duncan 12 Anway are living in Fremont County Colorado with grandparents T. T. 68 and Elmira 61 Duncan. Their mother was born in Canada.
Elmira Duncan was buried Aug 27, 1926 in Florence, Colorado, and a Thomas Duncan was buried there Sep 15, 1926..

In 1930 San Francisco Duncan Anway, 22, born in Colorado, a laborer at a box factory, is living with mother Frances Ball, 40, widowed, a seamstress at a department store, first married at 16.
In 1945 San Francisco Duncan is a sheet metal worker, with no spouse listed.
NATHAN
Nathan George "Conway", 21, married Gladys Frances Reeves, 19, August 9, 1925 in Canon City, had Doris Marie Mar 14, 1926 and Willis Jay Mar 26, 1927, and drowned June 30, 1928 in Canon City. That has to be the George W. Anway buried in Lakeside Cemetery, Canon City July 2, 1928

| Willis J. Anway March 26, 1927 - September 5, 2004 Willis J. Anway, 77, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., passed away on Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004, at Ark-Valley Regional Medical Center. He was born March 26, 1927, in Canon City, Colo. He moved to La Junta with his mother when he was a small child. He attended La Junta schools, graduating from La Junta High School with the class of 1945. He graduated from Otero Jr. College in 1949. Mr. Anway was drafted into the U.S. Army and served during World War II, Korea and Vietnam, retiring in 1970 after 25 years of service to country. After his retirement from the Army, he lived in Tucson, Ariz., for 10 years, attending college and working as a security guard and groundskeeper. He then moved to Sierra Vista, where he resided with his "beloved cat family" and was near his special friends, Elias and Eva Rosas. Memorials may be made to La Junta Animal Rescue. Graveside service with full military rites will be held Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004 in La Junta - Fairview Cemetery. |
Gladys remarried to Oral Frederick McLain Dec 15, 1928 in Canon City, and died Mar 23, 1987 in La Junta, buried Fairview Cemetery. Daughter of Jay Vandervilt Reeves and Nettie Cicily Morgan. Married first Nathan George Anway on August 09, 1925; they had two children, Doris who died as an infant, and Willis 1927-2004. After his death, married Oral Frederick McLain December 15, 1928. They had Melvin 1929-2002 and three living girls.
