In 1880 Thomas, 35 is in Holt County, married to Mary J., 27, born in Missouri.  They have James B., 8, Charles J.  4, and Harry M. seven months.

In 1900 Holt County Thomas, born Jan 1845 in Kentucky,  is widowed, and has Harry M. September 1880, Daisey A. April 1884, Grover C. October 1886, and Ray W. January 1890, all four in Missouri.

Grover Clarence McKinney registered for WWI in Yuma, saying he was born Sept 9, 1888 in Forest City, Missouri

In 1920 north Yuma County Thomas J., 75, widowed, born in Kentucky, is on the same page as Grover and Beatrice McKinney.

" Funeral services were held in Forest City, Tuesday, Dec. 13, for Thomas J. McKinney, 82 years old, who died Thursday, Dec. 8, 1927, in Fowler, Colo. Services were held at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. J. Harold Fairly and burial was in the Forest City cemetery.
Mr. McKinney, who was born at Stanford, Ky., Jan. 22, 1845, was a resident of Forest township for a number of years but left this vicinity several years ago. He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Daisy Bagby living near Mound City."

Lena C. Burnham is in Pawnee County, Nebraska in 1900, born May 1880 in New York. She's with Charles L. and Amelia D. Burnham, both 47. Luvene S. is 21, Lena C. 20, Epharaim H. 18, Zelotus E. 17, Warren H. 14, Alta M. 13, Lay A. 11, Anna L. 10, Cassius R. 7, and Phili S. 3.

Lena Burnham, 23, and Harry M. McKinney married in Pawnee City on April 15, 1903.

In 1910 Yuma County, Harry is farming, with Lena B. both 30, Ruth 5, and Medell B. 2.

Lena's sister Anna Burnham, 20, born in Nebraska, is teaching school.

1911 Yuma "Leonard Knox has resigned his position, with Cole's Yuma Mercantile Company and left yesterday for Kansas City. He will have his eyes treated for awhile, and may perhaps remain there all winter. Harry McKinney takes his place in the store here."

1912 Wray "Harry McKinney was down from Yuma the first of the week getting acquainted with the people of our town. Harry is the democratic candidate for county clerk in the coming election."

June 1914 "Mrs. Harry McKinney and children went to Bryant, Colo., last Friday and will spend two weeks there visiting with Mr. McKinney's parents. Harry went up to Yuma Sunday morning and drove over to the farm to spend the day , returning that night."

1914

December 1914 "Harry McKinney visited in his parents home north of Yuma from Saturday to Monday of this week."

July 1915 Wray " It has developed that Paul Flory, a member of the chautauqua crew, came from the same Nebraska town, Pawnee City, from which Mr. and Mrs. Harry McKinney came and the old family acquaintance has been renewed this week."

1915 " Dr. and Mrs. George Blatherwick of Morence, Arizona, left the first of the week for Los Angeles, California. Mrs. Blatherwick is a sister of Mrs. Harry McKinney and she and their baby had been visiting in the McKinney home for a couple of weeks. The baby was quite sick and the father, who is a physician, came east to accompany the wife and little one to the coast. While here Dr. Blatherwick was taken a drive by Mr. McKinney over the flats south of Wray and expressed himself as surprised at the bumper crops to be seen there."

December 1916 "The Harry McKinney family moved to Yuma last Friday, where they will make their home in the future. Mr. McKinney will remain in Wray until the expiration of his term as county clerk. Wray regrets to lose this family from our midst. "

June 1917 "Postmaster Harry McKinney was down from Yuma last Thursday forenoon, he making the trip down in an auto and returning on the noon train."

Harry is farming in 1920 Yuma County, 40, with Lena 39, Ruth 18 and Modell B. 12, both born in Nebraska.

1928 Wray "Mr. and Mrs. M. G. Rinckel entertained Mr. and Mrs. Harry McKinney of Yuma and daughter, Miss Ruth McKinney at dinner last Sunday."

Harry and Lena are alone in 1930 and 1940 Yuma County.

1934

September 1935 "Congratulations to Medell McKinney of Yuma, son of county commissioner Harry McKinney, who was one of the thirty-five applicants for Colorado’s Courtesy Motor Patrol who survived the elimination contest from some 7,000 seekers after the patrol jobs, and will represent Yuma County on the selected band of motorcycle mounted traffic supervisors."

1938

1945 Wray "Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bristow and children moved Tuesday to Yuma, where Henry will be employed by Harry McKinney. "

Their daughter Ruth McKinney Wingfield is buried in Vernon 1904-1961 # 79917714, with Chester C. Wingfield 1903-1982 # 79917060.

1930 "News of the marriage of Miss Ruth McKinney and Mrs. Charles Wingfield, popular members of the Wray grade school faculty, leaked out to other teachers and friends this week. The marriage occurred at Hot Springs, S. D. on Saturday September 21, at 10 o'clock by Rev. S. R. Wall, pastor of the Christian church at that place, and has been kept secret until this week. News of the marriage was a surprise to the friends of Mr. and Mrs. Wingfield as they had not suspected that the couple were married.
Mr. and Mrs. Wingfield began their courtship last year when they were both members of the grade school faculty here. Mrs. Wingfield is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. M. McKinney of near Yuma. The family formerly lived in Wray and have many friends here. She is a graduate of the Yuma high school and of the State Teachers College at Greeley. Besides teaching at Wray, Mrs. Wingfield has taught at other places in the county and is very well known and popular with a wide circle of friends. Mr. Wingfield is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wingfield of near Vernon. He graduated from the Wray high school and like his bride, later attended State Teachers College. This is Mr. Wingfield's third year in the Wray school and he has many friends in this locality. Mr. and Mrs. Wingfield are splendid young people and their friends are extending them belated congratulations.
They will make their home in Wray at least until the close of school."

Grace H. Young and Medell B. McKinney married in Golden Colorado on August 19, 1927.

1927 Yuma "Mrs. Medell McKinney and brother returned Friday from a few days visit with their father B. L. Young at Benkelman, Nebraska."

They're farming next to his parents in 1930 Yuma County, Grace 23 born in Missouri. Ray McKinney and family are on the same page.

Medell B. McKinney 32 and Grace H. 33 are in Greeley in 1940, where he works for the highway patrol. Margaret is 7, Helen 5, and Gordon 2.

Medell 1907-1971 # 92648563 and Grace 1905-2004 # 73216504 are buried in Yuma.



Margaret Carolyn McKinney Davison, 35, married Bobbie Hobert Waugh on June 29, 1967 in Norfolk, Virginia.

Helen R. and Jacob E. Trautman divorced in Yuma County on February 9, 1981.
Helen, born April 4, 1935, died December 2, 1998, last residence Wichita, Kansas.

Medell Gordon McKinney 1937-2007 is buried in Wray # 23025498.

GROVER

Grover C. McKinney, 32, born in Missouri.  He and Beatrice, 25 Nebraska, have Kenneth C., 8, born in Nebraska.

Bee Darwin was born at Virginia, Neb., Feb. 29, 1894, was married to G. C. McKinney, Mar 9, 1912. The first five years of their lives were spent in Beatrice and here their son Kenneth was born. From there they they moved to Yuma, Colo., where she died Feb. 12, 1920. She was a victim of the flu and being critically ill was taken to the hospital and after a time was so much improved it was planned to take her to her home but the night before when all was ready for her return the next day, the end came suddenly and unexpectedly, the cause heart failure. Her age was 25 years, ll months and 12 days. She grew to womanhood here, attended school here and was brought back to her childhood home and laid to rest by the side of her parents in the Filley cemetery.
She leaves four brothers and one sister: Allen, Harvey and Clifford of Virginia, Verne of Sioux City, Iowa and Mrs. May Ramsey of Fowler, Colo. The pallbearers were her old schoolmates: Fred Butterfield, Joe, John and George Weber, Walter Erickson and Jerry Kozak.

RAY

In 1910 Holt County, Missouri, Ray McKinney, 20, is with sister Daisy Bagby 26 and her husband Robert G. 28, Mary H.3,a nd Harry M. 2.

November 24, 1916

In 1924 Mr. and Mrs. Charles Arnold and Mrs. Ray McKinney motored to Greeley for a few days' visit with Mr. and Mrs. Leo Arnold and Genevieve Arnold.

In 1930 Yuma County, Ray is farming, 40, Daisy A. 29, Grace M. 11, Lois R. 8, and Leo C. 7.
Ray W. McKinney 1890-1963 is buried in Yuma # 46747175, with Daisy (Arnold) McKinney 1901-1990.




Lois McKinney, born July 20, 1921 in Yuma to Ray McKinney and Daisy Arnold,was named Boyes in 1939, Fernandes in 1948, McKinney in 1950, Clark in 1958, and Katzberg in 1998.

Thomas proved up on a quarter in section 6, 4N 45W in 1922.

Clarence G. McKinney 41 and Kenneth C. 17 are in Pueblo in 1930 - Clarence is farming, saying he was married, but no spouse listed.  Kenneth has no occupation.
