In 1900 Pittsfield Massachusetts, William Sturgeon born March 1865 in Canada, married 13 years to Josephine July 1865 Canada, have William Dec 1887, Augustaus July 1890, Madalina Oct 1892, Eva M. January 1895, Agnes Aug 1896, and Francis A. July 1899, all kids born in Massachusetts.

In 1910 Pittsfield, Massachusetts, William Sturgeon is 22,an electrical winder, born in Massachusetts, with parents William 45, a loom fixer, and Josephine 44, both born in Canada. Augustus is 19, a tester in an electical factory, Melvina 17, Cora 15, Agnes 13, Francis 10, and Alexander 8, all kids born in Massachusetts.

William proved up two quarters in 12 and 13, 4N 44W in 1920, adjoining Sidney Atwood's two quarters.
Witnesses were George Herbert, Fred J. Earl, William Seas, and Leroy Currence, all of Alvin, Colorado.

In 1920 Yuma County, Wm is 32 single, born in Massachusetts, parents in Canada.

In 1930 Yuma County, Valley precinct, William is a farm laborer, 42, boarding with Jesse Kettley 45 Nebraska.

When William registered for WWII in Wray, his reference was Agnes Sturgeon of Pittsfield, Massachusetts.

William Jerry Sturgeon 1888-1972 is buried in Wray # 62305979.
Mary E. Sturgeon 1881-1962 is buried in Wray # 62305962.

George Alexander Hebert, born at Winnipeg, Canada, residing at Alton Kansas, to Hormedas Hebert and Adele Beauden, married Malvina "Sturgon" in Pittsfield, Massachusetts November 28, 1914.
Malvina was 22, residing at Pittsfield, daughter of William Sturgon and Josephine Machon.
In 1915 Rooks County, Kansas, George Hebert is 29, "Mavana" 22.

Agnes Hebert was born August 2, 1917 at Wray to George A. Hebert and Malvina Sturgeon, dying as Agnes Aycock Feb 8, 2001.

March 1919 Wray "George Hebert, who lives in the Alvin district, was here Monday to make proof on his claim, before J. M. Boggs, clerk of the district court. Mr. Hebert's witnesses were Fred J. Earl and William Sears, both of Alvin.
Fred J. Earl, one of the energetic Alvin neighborhood ranchers, was here Monday to make final proof on his claim before J. M. Boggs, clerk of the district court. His witnesses were George Hebert and Jack Wacklo, both of Alvin."

George proved up 320 acres in sections 7, 17, and 18 in 1920, and claimed another 240 acers for Stock in sections 7 and 18 in 1920.

That, although in another township, joined the Sturgeon claim.


August 17, 1922 "A demented man, apparently 40 or 45 years old, was taken into custody by the officers Monday noon and later in the day was taken to the asylum for the insane at Pueblo. The unfortunate fellow first attracted attention by standing on the street and making an unearthly noise. When approached by Officer Mitchell he immediately divulged the fact that he was mentally deranged. Officers, assisted by a number of huskies, found it an exceedingly difficult task to place him in safekeeping. The Rattler understands that he answers to the name of Hebert. Sheriff Hitchcock and Deputy Clarence Holt took him to Pueblo Monday evening. The Rattler understands that Hebert had been in a hospital at Great Falls, Mont., for treatment some months ago. For several weeks past he had been working in the harvest fields near Wray. Due to the fact that the members of the regular lunacy commission were out of town Monday afternoon, it was necessary to have a special commission to investigate and pass upon his mental condition. If the Rattler mistakes not, the unfortunate man has a brother living near Alvin."
March 1923 the Yuma County commissioners paid the United Davis-Vories Undertaking Co. $50. for the burial of Wilfred Hebert.
Wilfred Hebert 1880-1923 buried in Pueblo Colorado # 139601922 is likely the same man.

Wilfred Hebert registered for WWI in Great Falls, Montana, a laborer for the city, born July 1, 1880. His nearest relative was Mrs. Francis Russell of Vancouver, B.C.


In 1930 Yuma County, Melvina M. Hebert is 37 born in Massachusetts, married to George A. Hebert 44, French-Canadian. Agnes M. is 12, Norman J. 11, Vincent G. is 6, Francis W. 5, and Alfred A. 1, all kids born in Colorado.

Shirley (Kramer) Starnes wrote "Albert C. & Marie Lizzette ( Merritt) Kramer bought the George Hebert farm circa 1939."

George Alexander Hebert, born January 3, 1886, registered for WWII with an address of Pittsfield, Massachusetts.

In 1950 Pittsfield, George A. (Melvina M.) is working for the city, and they live at 1646 W. Housatonic.

1952 "Norman J. Hebert, General Electric engineer and former architectural engineer on federally built houses and power plants, has designed a home to be built here for his brother. The house will be erected on Lebanon Avenue at Hungerford Street for Alfred A. Hebert, with the two men expecting to do much of the work themselves. Alfred Hebert, married and the father of two sons, lives near by at 236 Lebanon Avenue. For Norman Hebert, the architectural project continues the type of part-time work he did on private homes while working for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation in Colorado before coming here in January, 1951. He designed a number of duplex houses, mountain cabins and home-remodeling projects around Denver. Mr. Hebert was employed by the architectural design section of the federal agency during work on the Colorado-Big Thompson irrigation project. Included in the construction were power-plant buildings and a 16-house development, on both of which Mr. Hebert worked. He got into private construction through a friend in the lumber business whose customers often asked for architectural help in their building. The designer, 33, handled this work and his federal job while studying architectural engineering for three years in night courses at the University of Colorado. Earlier he spent two years at the Colorado School of Mines. "Now," he says, "I'm looking for the way to get a degree in architecture in the East." This may bring study later at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Mr. Hebert says. Meanwhile, he is set to use his spare evenings designing homes and remodeling jobs here. Married, and the father of four children, he lives at 95 Cheshire Road. He is a design engineer in the GE Chemical Division. After graduating from high school in Colorado, Mr. Hebert came to the GE apparatus works here as an apprentice, in 1939. In 1941 he enlisted in the Air Force; he was a pilot in the Pacific and was discharged in 1945, returning to Colorado. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George A. Hebert, 1646 West Housatonic Street. A current project of the young designer is a partial remodeling of his parents' house. He labels his approach to architecture as largely functional.. "If I do a good job of planning an efficient house to fit the people who will live in it, it will be attractive," and he adds, "esthetics will take care of itself."


February 26, 1966 Troy, New York
"The funeral of George A. Hebert, 80, of Pittsfield, Mass, father of Vincent G. Hebert of Troy, was held today. Mr. Hebert died Wednesday night at the Berkshire Nursing Home in Pittsfield after a long illness. He was born in Winnipeg, Canada, and operated a cattle ranch in Colorado before moving to PittsfieJd in 1940. He worked for construction firms in Pittsfield and was employed by the Pittsfield Department of Public Works. He and his wife, the former Melvina Sturgeon celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in December 1964.
Besides his wife and his son, he leaves four other Norman J. Hebert of Connorsville, Indiana, Francis W. of Lawrence, Mass.. Alfred A. of Richmond. Mass., and Martin E. of Williamsburg. Mass.; a daughter, Mrs. Agnes Aycock of Drew.


George and Melvina Hebert are buried at St. Joseph's Cemetery in a two grave lot 274-Section 21. George was buried 2/26/1966 and Melvina 5/21/1976.


Melvina Hebert, born October 5, 1892 in Massachusetts, died May 1976, last residence Berkshire, Massachusetts.
May 21, 1976 "A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Melvina Sturgeon Hebert was celebrated at St. Mark's Church this morning by the Rev. Patrick A. Sullivan, assistant pastor. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery, where the Rev. Msgr. Joseph I. Johnson offered prayers at the grave. Bearers, all grandsons, were David A., Gary S., Michael E., Ronald S., Wayne F. and Francis J. Hebert."


"Wills filed are those of Melvina M. Hebert of Pittsfield. She leaves her property to her children, Mrs. James Aycock of Parshman, Miss.. Norman J. Hebert of Connersville. Ind., Francis W. Hebert of Lawrence, Martin Hebert of Williamsburg, Alfred Hebert of Richmond, and Vincent G. Hebert of Troy."


Pittsfield Massachusetts - April 19, 1944
"Second Lt. Norman J. and Pvt. Vincent G. Hebert are the sons of Mr. and Mrs, George A. Hebert of 1646 West Housatonlc Street. Both sons enlisted in Ihe armed forces in December, 1941. Lieut. Hebert was recently awarded an air medal for meritorious achievements in aerial operations. He has trained at Jefferson Field, Texas, and at Lowry Field Colorado, where he is now stationed. Prior to enlisting, he was employed by the General Electric Company and is a graduate of Wray High School in Wray, Colorado. Pvt. Hebert has been with the Ordnance Corps in England for two years. Before going oversea, he had been stationed at Camp Devens. He also attended Wray Schools."


September 1946 "Before an altar banked with gladioli and palms, Miss Elizabeth Men Neilson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto A. Neilson Jr., of 236 Lebanon Avenue, was married this morning at St. Mark's Church to Alfred A. Hebert, seaman first class, son of Mr and Mrs George Hebert of 1646 West Housatonic Street. Rev. Henry F. Finnegan performed the 7 o'clock ceremony. Miss Eleanor Eagen played the organ and Miss Kathleen Coty sang. Mr. Neilson gave his daughter in marriage. Miss Mildred Ruth Neilson was her sister's matron of honor. Francis W. Hebert was best man for his brother, and ushers were Martin Hebert, also a brother, and Thomas Gordon. A breakfast for the bridal party at the Berkshire Restaurant and reception at St. John's Hall, West Pittsfield, followed the ceremony. For a trip to New Hampshire and Canada, the bride wore a pearl gray tailored suit, black accessories and American beauty rose corsage. Their home will be at 236 Lebanon Avenue after Sept. 14. Mrs. Hebert, a clerk at the F. W. Woolworth Company, attended Pittsfield High School. Seaman Hebert, a Pittsfield High School graduate, is stationed in the armament test division at the U.S. Naval Air Station, Patuxant River, Md. He entered service last December, and took boot training at Bainbridge, Md. Prior to enlistment, he was employed by the Lenox Aerovent Company."

August 18, 1947 "Mrs. Gilbert O. Roy of Fort Kent, Me., announces the engagement of her daughter, Jean, of 1805 West Housatonic Street, to Vincent G. Hebert, son of Mr. and Mrs. George A. Hebert of 1646 West Housatonic Street The weddding will be Sept, 20. . . . . Miss Roy was graduated last June from Fort Kent High School. Mr. Hebert is a graduate of Mt. Hope school in Wray, Colorado, [this was a one-room grade school district # 41 about 18 miles north of Wray] is employed by GE. He was in the European theatre during three of his four year Army Service."
