Charles F. and Emma (Gunther) Niehaus, sons Theodore Niehaus and William A. Niehaus, Wauneta
In 1900 Lancaster County, Nebraska, Charles Niehaus born April 1857 in Germany, married 20 years to Eamma June 1862 Germany have had six kids, only two living. Theodore August 1885 and William February 1888 were both born in Nebraska.
In 1910 Phillips County, Colorado, Charles is 53, married 29 years farming, with Emma 46, both born in Germany.
Charles proved up 320 acres in 6 and 7, 4N 44W and 1, 4N 45W in 1917.
Charles H.F. Niehaus and his wife Emma defaulted on a note on that land in 1922.
Charles Carl Frederick Niehaus 1856-1926 is buried in Bird City # 12305081, with Emma O. (Gunther) Niehaus 1861-1917.

WILLIAM
In 1910 William is farming in Phillips County, Colorado, 22, married one year to Talaly 23 Germany. Earl W. is three months old.
November 13, 1913 "Mrs. William Niehauas and two children arrived in Wray Tuesday morning
after having spent a month in visiting relatives and friends in Perry, Glenwood and Poroy, [possibly Pomeroy] Iowa.
Mr. and Mrs. Niehaus reside on a farm eighteen miles north of Wray."
William proved up two quarters in 22, 4N 44W in 1916.
In 1920 Yuma County, William A. Niehaus is 31, born in Nebraska, Talette G. 3 in Germany. She immigrated in 1906. KarlW. 9, Lucele J. 7, Lillian E. 5, and Calvin R. 1 were born in Colorado.
Opal Vivian Niehaus was born at Wray September 18, 1921, to William A. Neihaus and Laletta A. Antons, dying as Rafdal in January 7, 1994.

, the 10th, for western Saline county, Nebr., where they will
visit Theo. Niehaus. From there they go to Pomeroy, Iowa,
where Mrs. Wm. Niehaus has brothers and sisters, and her mother,
who intends to return to Germany as soon as the war is settled, will be gone one month."
In 1940 Albert Lea, Minnesota, William is a laborer in a meat packing plant, 52, Taletta is 54, and Opal is 18.
William August Heman Niehaus 1888-1957 is buried in Albert Lea, Minnesota, # 131637804. Talette Sophie (Antons) Niehaus is also thee, # 131637700.
Calvin R. Niehaus was in Albert Lea in 1940, and is buried at Fort Snelling National 1918-1996, born at Wray Colorado. Iene L. Niehaus 1915-2005 is also buried there.
Irene L. Niehaus, age 89, Sauk Rapids, MN died Monday, January 10, 2005 at Ridgeview Place, Sauk Rapids, MN. Funeral services will be Friday, January 14, 2005 at 1:00 PM at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN. Rev. David Nelson will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday, January 13, 2005 from 4 to 7 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN. Irene Niehaus was born July 18, 1915 in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin to Andrew P. Jensen and Randi (Hyland) Jensen. As a young girl, Irene moved with her family to Doland, South Dakota where her family owned the bakery and helped build the Lutheran church. Later she moved to Geneva, Minnesota where she met and married Calvin Niehaus of Albert Lea, MN. In 1960 they moved to St. Cloud. Irene worked as a waitress for Simonson’s Cafe and later in food service at Garvey Commons at SCSU. After her retirement Irene and Calvin moved to Cold Spring, MN and later to St. Augusta, MN. Irene was a member of Missouri Synod Lutheran churches throughout her life. She was a graduate of Bethany College of Business, labor leader at Garvey Commons, member of Women’s Bowling Association, and recently The Red Hat Society. She enjoyed playing cards, board games, bingo, and going to the casino. Irene is survived by her daughters, Donna (William) Mickelsen of Edmond, OK, Geri (Loren) Johnson of Coon Rapids, MN, Sarah Livingston of Waite Park, MN; son, Mike (Kathy) Niehaus of St. Cloud, MN; brother-in-law, Don Behrends of Rochester, MN; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Calvin on March 1, 1996, son, John on November 30, 2002; grandson, Terry Erickson on January 27, 1992, infant brother, Andrew LeVern Jensen, sisters, Ione Behrends and Evelyn Ellis, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Karl and Stella Niehaus, Lucille and Bill O’Daffer, Lillian and Miler Nelson, Opal and Earl Rafdal. The Funeral service for Lucille O'Daffer of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, September 20, 2004 at the Salem Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Reverend Jay Dahlvang will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-7 Sunday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, and one hour before the service at the church. Lucille died on Thursday, September 16, 2004 at the Albert Lea Medical Center. She was 92. She was born in "Ray", Colorado, on April 4, 1912, the daughter of William and Taletta (Anton) Niehaus. The family moved to Kansas and later to Albert Lea. On August 19, 1945, she married Wayne "Bill" O'Daffer at the First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. She was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church. She enjoyed collecting recipes and listen to radio programs and talk shows. Lucille is survived by two children: Rilla Sanchez-Rivera of Albert Lea, Lynn O'Daffer and special friend Ramona Richter of Albert Lea; five grandchildren: Gretchen and her husband John Phillips of Wisconsin, Kimberly and her husband Jimmy Erickson of Iowa, Gaylan Wachlin and his wife Amy of Alden, MN., Annette and her husband Christian Hansen of Albert Lea, Brian O"Daffer and his wife Charlene of Owatonna; 12 great grandchildren; brother Karl Niehaus of Minneapolis, MN., sister-in-law Irene Niehaus of St. Cloud, MN. and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William "Bill" O'Daffer, great grandsons Steven Nielsen, Christian Hansen; brothers and sisters Calvin Niehaus, Lily Nelson and Opal Rafdal. --------------------------------- A memorial service for Rilla M. Sanchez-Rivera will be held at 2:30 PM on Monday, September 21, 2015 at the Bonnerup Funeral Chapel, Albert Lea. The Reverend Don Preston will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Rilla passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Health System, Albert Lea. She was 68 years old. Rilla Marlene (O'Daffer) was born on December 6, 1946 to Wayne and Lucille (Niehaus) O'Daffer in Albert Lea. She was a resident of Albert Lea her entire life. She attended and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1965. She continued her schooling to become a beautician, later using that talent to cut hair for her friends and family. She was employed as a CNA at St. John's Lutheran Home, and worked there for 33 years until her retirement. In her free time, Rilla enjoyed taking care of her yard and plants, enjoying time with her cat, Fanny Mae, and Gaylan's dog, Haus, who would help her pick dandelions. She liked to crochet, macramé, and read. Rilla enjoyed every moment spent with her family, often singing and dancing with her grandchildren. She was a very welcoming person who always greeted people with a hug and a smile. Later in life, she was blessed to be reconnected with her daughter, Gretchen, who had been given up for adoption when Rilla was a young adult. This re-established connection was life changing for the entire family. She is preceded in death by her parents, and a grandson, Steven Nielson; and a nephew, Christian Hanson. Rilla is survived by her children, Gretchen Phillips, of Hammond, WI, Kimberly (James) Erickson, of Northwood, IA, and Gaylan Wachlin, of Albert Lea; grandchildren, Crystal, J.W., Samantha, Annerena, Jeremiah, McKayla, Kylie, and Kaylee; great-granddaughter, Emily; and a brother, Lynn (Ramona Richter) O'Daffer and his children Brian (Charlene) O'Daffer and their children; and Annete (Chris) Hanson and their child. |
Chillicothe Missouri, May 21, 1947 Ted Niehaus, 60, was accidentally killed on his son's farm, southwest of Breckenridge, Tuesday afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock while helping dig a culvert. He was standing .... tractor. Mr. Neihaus fell into the culvert with the tractor falling on him, pinning him in the ditch in three feet of water. He was believed to have been killed instantly. Dale Niehaus who was driving the tractor, jumped to the opposite side when he saw it turning over, and was not injured. Mr. and Mrs. Niehaus came to Breckenridge about ten years ago from Bird City, Kans. The body was taken from Michael Funeral Home in Breckenridge to Bird City, Kans. this afternoon where funeral services will be held Friday. Surviving Mr. Niehaus are his wife and two sons Dale, and Ted Jr. of the home at Breckenridge, two sons, Lindy Niehaus with the Army Air Forces at Scott Field, Illinois, Alfred (Whitie) Niehaus, 113 Walnut stree, Chillicothe; three daughters Dorothy Niehaus, Bird City, Kans.; Leona Trueblood, Bird City, Kans.; and Evelyn Goodall, Springfield, one brother, William Niehaus, Albert Lea Minn, and 8 grandchildren. |
Leona Fern Trueblood, 93, died May 24, 2007, at her home, Pratt. She was born April 28, 1914, in Bird City, the daughter of Theodore and Taletta Wiegers Niehaus. She graduated from Bird City High School and received her BSE and Masters Degree from Emporia State University. She taught elementary school for 30 years, retiring from Ulysses School District in 1979. She belonged to the Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include: three sons, Verlyn, Concordia, Lindal, Raymore, Mo., and Troy, Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter, Verneene Forrsberg, Pratt; a brother, Dale Niehaus, Breckenridge, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Raephel Trueblood; three brothers, Whitey, Ted and Lindy Niehaus; two sisters, Dorothy Niehaus and Evelyn Goodale; and a granddaughter. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Larrison Mortuary, Pratt, with John Hamm presiding. Memorials may be sent to South Wind Hospice, in care of the mortuary. Verlyn Earl Trueblood, 78, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, at Cloud County Health Center, Concordia. He was born Jan. 14, 1937, in Bird City to Vern L. and Leona F. (Niehaus) Trueblood. Verlyn attended Bird City Grade School and graduated from Sherman County High School, Goodland. He earned B.S. and M.S. degrees from Emporia State University. He taught business courses at Concordia High School for 33 years, retiring in 1997. He received a Master Teacher Award from the State Board of Marketing Education in 1987. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving three years in Japan in the Army Security Agency, where he deciphered enemy code working Morse intelligence. He married Delores R. (Madl) Mowry on June 9, 1990. He was an active member of KNEA, lifetime member of American Legion Post No.76, member of BPOE 2253, Clay Center, and a PER for BPOE 586, Concordia. He was a resident at Sunset Nursing Home for the past 16 months. Verlyn loved life, his students and the people he knew. Verlyn is survived by his wife, Delores, of Concordia; daughters, Julie Willoughby and Jennifer Trueblood, both of Concordia; stepsons, John (Michelle) Mowry, of Goddard, and Craig (Stacy) Mowry, of Thief River Falls, Minn.; grandchildren, Heather (David) Neeley, of Olathe, Starla Balthazor, of Concordia, Kyle Cook, of Salina, Kevin Cook (fianceé Hadass Green), of Fletcher, Okla., Elizabeth Willoughby, of Concordia, Luke and Linnea, of Thief River Falls, and Claire Mowry, of Goddard; brother, Lindal (Jerry Ann) Trueblood, of Raymore, Mo.; sister, Verneen (Norman) Forssberg, of Pratt; and great-grandchildren, Mason, Mariah, Tyler, Cameron and Juliann. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Rapheal and Troy Trueblood. The family selected cremation. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 2, at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with the Rev. Dean R. Frazier officiating. Burial of the cremains will be at Pleasant Hill with military honors by Fort Riley. |
Dale LeRoy Niehaus, 92, Breckenridge, Mo., passed away May 15, 2015, at Missouri Veteran's Home, Cameron, Mo. He was born Jan. 13, 1923, in Bird City, Kan., the son of Theodore and Taletta (Weigers) Niehaus. Dale graduated from the Bird City high school in 1941. He was inducted into the US Army Air Force on Feb. 6, 1943, at Fort Leavenworth, Kan. He served two years and 10 months. Dale was sent to Camp Crowder, Mo., where he attended radio repair school and became a Corporal. He spent 10 weeks in a college training detachment. He then became an Aviation Cadet at Kessler Field, Miss. He attended flight school in San Antonio, Texas and several other airfields in Texas over the next two years. At the end of World War II, Dale was attending B-29 flight engineering school at Amarillo Army Air Force base. He was discharged as an Aviation Cadet at Scottfield, Ill., on Dec. 7, 1945. He received the World War II Victory Medal, the American Theater Medal, and a good conduct medal. On Feb. 26, 1950, he married registered nurse, Colleen Uhland, at the Breckenridge Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Colleen; granddaughter, Colleen Foote; his parents; his brothers, Alfred, Theodore and Linberg Charles Niehaus; his sisters, Dorothy Niehaus, Leona Trueblood, and Evelyn Goodale. He spent his life in the Breckenridge community where he was engaged in farming since 1947. He was a member of the Breckenridge United Methodist Church, and a lifetime member of the American Legion of Braymer, Mo. Survivors two daughters, Gail Foote and husband Bob of Bucyrus, Kan., and Melinda Town and husband Wayne of Raymore, Mo.; four grandsons, Scott and Michelle Foot of Hoxie, Kan., Brad and Linsey Foote, Imperial, Neb., Greg and Laura Foote, Bucyrus, and Ryan Town, Raymore, Mo.; and 10 great grandchildren, Andrew, Molly, Charlie and Max Foote of Hoxie, Kan., Harrison and Tilly Colleen Foote of Imperial, Henry and Colin Foote of Bucyrus, and Addison and Tyler Town of Raymore. Funeral service 11 a.m. Monday, May 18, at the Breckenridge United Methodist Church. Visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment Rose Hill Cemetery, Breckenridge. |
