Brothers Charles and Leroy and Ray and Cecil Keech, sister Florence (Keech) Walchle, Alvin

In 1885 Edgar, Clay County, Nebraska, Charles Keech is 38, hattie 26, Leroy two months old . Leroy was the oldest of the Yuma County Keech kids.

Clara B. 1890-1954 and Charley W. 1892-1958 share a stone in Palisade, Nebraska # 12084716.
FindaGrave 12084711 says Harriett (Hayden) Keech 1857-1940 in Palisade Cemetery is Charley. Findagrave says Harriett is his spouse, but that's incorrect - she was his mother.


In 1900 Hayes County, Nebraska, Harriet Keech (Kuch on the index) is widowed, born December 1858 in Indiana, with Ray J. 15, Clarance B. and Clary B. 9, Charles W. 8, and Florence H. 6.

In 1910 Hayes County, Harriet is 51, Clara and Clarence 19, Charles 17, Florence 15, and Ray 13.

CHARLES

Next to Leroy, Charles W. Keech proved up a quarter in 12, 4N 44W in 1923.

October 1916 Wray " Chas. Keech of Palisade, Nebraska, was in town Saturday on business and called on business at this office.
November 9, 1916 "TO ALEXANDER M. COVINGTON, of Claudell, Kansas, Contestee :
You are hereby notified that Charles W. Keech, who gives Palisade, Nebraska, as his post office address, did on September ? ?, file in this office his duly corroborated application to contest and secure the cancellation of your Homestead Entry "

April 1917 Wray "Chas. Keech, a leading young farmer of near Alvin, was a pleasant business visitor at the Rattler office while in town last Saturday."

Charley Wilfred Keech registered for WWI with an address of Alvin, born May 22, 1892 at Edgar, NEbraska, single, farming by himself.

In 1920 Yuma County, Leroy is farming, 33, with Daisie 36, Cecil 9, Bernice 6, Vera 4 - all born in Nebraska, and Leroy J. Jr. one month old born in COlorado.
brother Charley W. 27 born in Nebraska, a farm laborer, single.

LEROY

Leroy proved up two quarters in 6 and 7, 4N 43W in 1920, and stock-claimed 80 acres in 1, 4N 44W and another 80 in 12, 4N 44W in 1920.

In 1930 Yuma County, Leroy J. is 45, Sarah D. 48, Cecil 19, Bernice 16, Vera M. 13, and Leroy E. 10.

Bernice Keech married Cecil Speicher on January 22, 1934, recorded in Yuma County.

Vera Mae Keech married Melvin Henry Horn June 21, 1936, recorded in Phillips County.

Leroy, Daisy and Leroy E. 20 are in Yuma County in 1940, on the same census page as Cecil.


Leroy 1885-1972 is buried in Palisade, Nebraska # 12084736, with Sarah Daisy (Sholes) Keech 1882-1946.


LeRoy E. Keech was born in Wray, Colorado on October 19, 1919 and passed away in Fort Pierce, Florida on November 25, 2012. He had been a resident in Florida for the last 6 years.
He attended schools in Yuma County Colorado, graduating from Wray High School in 1938. He completed one year at Success Business College in Denver before being drafted into the Air Force in 1942. He was assigned to a Bombardier Ground School in Texas, working with Cadet Bombardiers on the Norden Bombsights. He later transferred to the Infantry joining the 69th Infantry Division that met the Russians at the Elbe River in 1945, resulting in the German surrender a few months later.
Returning to Denver he was employed by Denver Equipment Company & the Joy Manufacturing Company for 36 years. He married Doris M. Fitzmier on May 23, 1954. They had a daughter, Sheryl (Gary) Lynn Self, who currently resides in Florida. They lived in North Denver for 49 years and were members of Berkeley Baptist Church. His favorite hobbies were International Folk Dancing & Square Dancing; participating in many local and national performances.
He is survived by his daughter Sheryl and her husband Gary.
He was preceded in death by his lovely wife Doris M. Keech in 2003 & step-son Gerald Fitzmier in 1984. Service Wednesday, December 5, 12:00 noon at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary, 29th & Wadsworth.
Viewing one hour prior 11:00 am-12:00 noon. Entombment to follow in the Tower of Memories.


CECIL

Cecil is in Yuma County in 1940, 29, with Vivian 25, both born in Nebraska. They were in Phillips County, Colorado in 1935. Daisy V. is 6 born in Colorado.

In 1942 Cecil is in San Diego, a mechanic for CA Corporation, with Vivian at 4420 35th.

Cecil L. Keech, born Oct 18, 1910 in Nebraska, died December 21, 1996 in Clark County, Nevada.
He's buried in Las Vegas # 134663608, with Vivian S. 1914-2011.

Daisy V. Keech, born about 1934, married James W. Cicainero in San Diego on November 24, 1952.


FLORENCE

Florence H. (Keech) Walchle proved up 80 acres in 6, 4N 43W in 1920, next to John Walchle's 320 acre homestead in 1916.

John Walchle was in Clay County, Kansas in 1900, born April 1872 in Kansas with widowed mother Mary born in 1839 in Switzerland. Julis Nov 1874 in Kansas is also with her.
John was born April 23, 1871 in Wakefield, Kansas to John Walchle and Mary Ryff.

December 1909 "John Walchle is building on his claim and will be one of our farmers next summer. "

November 1911 Wray "John Walchle of eighteen miles north of town made this office a pleasant call yesterday and will begin with this issue to read the news from the columns of the Rattler. He ^ brought in a fine ear of corn taken from his field and- said that the corn in his neighborhood will yield thirty bushels to tho acre this year. Mr. Walchle leaves tonight for Wakefield, Kansas, where he will visit relatives for about three months.."

May 6, 1915 "Last Sunday John Walchle received a telegram from Milford, Kansas, bearing the sad news that his mother was not expected to live. Mr. Walchle departed that evening for Miiford, to lie at his mother s bedside.."

March 1917 "Jack Walchle, north of town, was a pleasant caller at the Rattler office last Saturday afternoon, and ordered this paper sent to his sister-in-law at Wakefield, Kansas, for one year "

John registered for WWI with a Wray address, born April 23, 1873, farming in 5, 4N 43 W, with Florence Hazel Walchle.
Lawrence Kansas, 1917 "Mr. and Mrs. John Walchle, Mrs. Julius Walchle and children, and David and Winnie Davis spent Saturday and Sunday with Mrs. Walchle's mother Ms. D. Davis."

Ray J. Keech married Eva Roberta "Duek" April 19, 1930, recorded in Phillips County.

Ray J. Keech 1896-1981 is buried in Wauneta, Nebraska # 76117999, with Eva Roberta (Dudek) Keech 1905-1969.
