Leroy proved up two quarters in 6 and 7, 4N 43W in 1920, and stock-claimed 80 acres in 1, 4N 44W and another 80 in 12, 4N 44W in 1920.
In 1930 Yuma County, Leroy J. is 45, Sarah D. 48, Cecil 19, Bernice 16, Vera M. 13, and Leroy E. 10.
Bernice Keech married Cecil Speicher on January 22, 1934, recorded in Yuma County.
Vera Mae Keech married Melvin Henry Horn June 21, 1936, recorded in Phillips County.
Leroy, Daisy and Leroy E. 20 are in Yuma County in 1940, on the same census page as Cecil.
Leroy 1885-1972 is buried in Palisade, Nebraska # 12084736, with Sarah Daisy (Sholes) Keech 1882-1946.
LeRoy E. Keech was born in Wray, Colorado on October 19, 1919 and passed away in Fort Pierce, Florida on November 25, 2012. He had been a resident in Florida for the last 6 years. He attended schools in Yuma County Colorado, graduating from Wray High School in 1938. He completed one year at Success Business College in Denver before being drafted into the Air Force in 1942. He was assigned to a Bombardier Ground School in Texas, working with Cadet Bombardiers on the Norden Bombsights. He later transferred to the Infantry joining the 69th Infantry Division that met the Russians at the Elbe River in 1945, resulting in the German surrender a few months later. Returning to Denver he was employed by Denver Equipment Company & the Joy Manufacturing Company for 36 years. He married Doris M. Fitzmier on May 23, 1954. They had a daughter, Sheryl (Gary) Lynn Self, who currently resides in Florida. They lived in North Denver for 49 years and were members of Berkeley Baptist Church. His favorite hobbies were International Folk Dancing & Square Dancing; participating in many local and national performances. He is survived by his daughter Sheryl and her husband Gary. He was preceded in death by his lovely wife Doris M. Keech in 2003 & step-son Gerald Fitzmier in 1984. Service Wednesday, December 5, 12:00 noon at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary, 29th & Wadsworth. Viewing one hour prior 11:00 am-12:00 noon. Entombment to follow in the Tower of Memories. |
