Cora Mae Brown was born on September 9, 1892 in Stewartsville, Clinton County, Missouri.

Cora is in Clinton County, Missouri in 1900, born April 1893,
with J.N Brown, farmer born June 1859 in Missouri, married 16 years to Sallie F. May 1864. Miller was born April 1885, Parker March 1887, harrison April 1890, Cora April 1893, Nora May 1893 - age 4?, and Charles December 1898, all born in Missouri.
James Harvey Brown 1859-1925 is buried in Traer, Kansas, # 69902919, with Sallie F. 1864-1930 # 69902951.
James H. Brown of Stewartsville had a patent for a washing machine filed in March 1877 -
Chester, 23, is farming alone in 1910 Yuma County.
He married Cora on September 14, 1910 in Oberlin, Kansas.
April 4, 1912 " Mrs. Chester Porter and baby, of near the Alvin postoffice,
came in town Friday to spend a couple of days with Mrs. Eva Sherman."
October 23, 1913 " Mrs. Chester Porter, who is spending several months in Wray in order that her little daughter,
may have medical attention for infantile paralysis, is spending this week with her husband on their
ranch twenty miles northeast."
Amy Frances Porter was born on September 22, 1911 in Yuma Co., CO. She died on December 21, 1913 in Wray.
She was buried in Wray.
January 15, 1915 " A fine baby boy came to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Porter near Alvin on Tuesday
of last week. We received the report too late for publication in our last issue."
Chester proved up two quarters in section 21, 4N 43W in 1915.
August 10, 1916 "Mr. and Mrs Tom Porter and family of Superior, Nebraska, are visiting their son,
Chester Porter, eighteen miles north of Wray."
He registered for WWI with an Alvin address, born April 13, 1887 at Webber, Kansas, with a wife and two children.
In 1920 Yuma County, Chester is 32, Cora 27, with Charles F. 5 born in Colorado.
Chester's father died in Yuma County "Edwin Porter, elderly resident of this county and father of Chester J. Porter, died at the home of his son in the Alvin neighborhood, June 24, 1927. Deceased was born October 12, 1857 and was 69 years, 8 months and 12 days old at the time of his death. Death was due to influenza. The remains were taken to Webber, Kansas, where the funeral services were held. He is survived by his son and other less near relatives and friends. "

August 14, 1941 Phippsburg Colorado (Routt County) "Mr. and Mrs. Chester Porter and daughter of Ray, Colo., spent last week with Mrs. Etta Brown and family."
Etta was married to Parker Brown in Routt County in 1920 - and he's buried in Oberliln, Kansas 1887-1936 # 608007164.
Chester 1887-1944 is buried in Wray, # 68943885. So is Cora M. 1892-1978 # 68943866.
"Chester J. Porter, 57, a highly esteemed resident of the Alvin community, where he homesteaded when a young man and where he had resided for 35 years, died Tuesday morning after a few hours illness. He had spent Christmas night at the home of neighbors, was apparently in good health and had enjoyed the evening. After he and Mrs. Porter had returned to their home, he was stricken with a cerebral hemorrhage. Neighbors were called to aid her by Mrs. Porter and a physician was summoned but Mr. Porter failed rapidly and died the following morning.
The deceased was born on April 13, 1887 at Webber, Kansas, the son of Chester J. and Mary E. Porter. He spent his youth at that place and attended college at Manhattan, Kansas. When he was 22 he came to Colorado and homesteaded in the Alvin community where he had since made his home. He was baptized in the Presbyterian Church when he was a resident of Webber.
On September 9, 1910 he married Cora Mae Brown of Traer, Kansas, at Oberlin, Kansas. Five children were born to them, two of whom preceded their father in death. Survivors include the widow, two sons, Charles who lives north of Wray, and Sgt. James, a veteran of the Pacific War, of Rapid City, South Dakota, and a daughter, Coramarie of the home. There are also a brother, Robert of St. Paul, Minn., and a sister, Mrs. Esther Ross of Webber, Kansas.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at the Lockwood Mortuary by Rev. Louis Haruf and burial will be in Grandview Cemetery. "
"Funeral services for Cora May Porter were held Wednesday, December 6 at the First Christian Church in Wray with Rev. Charles Matthews officiating. Interment was at Grandview Cemetery.
Cora May Brown, eldest daughter of Harvey and Sally Brown, was born September 9, 1892, in Stewartsville, Missouri. At the age of six, Cora, her parents, five brothers and one sister moved to Traer, Kansas, where she attended school. September 7, 1910 she was married at Oberlin, Kansas, to Chester J. Porter of Yuma County, Colorado. The couple made their home at Chester's homestead in the Alvin community.
To this union were born five children. Two children, Amy and Harold, died in infancy. Her husband, Chester, passed away in December 1944 and Cora continued her residence on the ranch for one more year- then she moved to Wray and lived there. In 1968 she moved to Ft, Collins where she resided until her death on December 3, 1978, at the age of 86 years.
She was the last survivor of the Brown family, her parents, brothers and sisters all having passed on. She leaves to mourn her passing two sons, Charles E. Porter of Golden and James F. Porter of Denver, and a daughter, Cora Marie Unger of Ft. Collins; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends. She was a life-long member of the First Christian Church of Wray."
In 1940 Yuma County, Charles is married to Dorothy M. 19, and they're farming next to Albert Kramer and his large family, and Harry S Kramer, and his family.
Charles E. Porter 1910-2000 is buried in Golden, Colorado # 52852127, with Dorothy Marie (Kramer) Porter 1920-2001.
James is in the army, 5th Bombardment, in 1940 Honolulu.
Per one tree, James married Jane Elizabeth Ellenwood -Sept 21, 1918 - November 12, 2010. She had married George Merle Daffer, who died May 1939 in Denver of a gun shot to the head.
