Sophia Montgomery, Alvin


In 1860 Nemaha County, Nebraska, Chauncey Allen is a teamster, 36 born in Ohio, with Mary 30, Sophia 14, Joseph 8, Arthur 6, and David ten months.
Chauncey Hopkins Allen 1824-1889 is buried in Nebraska City # 59459829 "Chauncey married twice. His first wife was Mary E. Coult and they had three children. He married second in 1865 Susana Hawkins. They had three children. Chauncey served as an Elder of his church in Attwater, Ohio. He enlisted in the Civil War in 1862 from Nebraska and served for three years in St. Louis, MO.   "

In 1880 Nemaha County, Nebraska, J. N. Montgomery is farming, 38, with Sophia 30. Allie is 9, Walter 7, Maude 4, Katy 2, and Guy 2.
Brother Arthur Allen 25 born in Ohio is with them, no occupation.

In 1885 Nemaha County, J.M. is 43, Sophia 35, Nellie 14, Whittier 12, Maud 9, Kittie 7, and Guy 1 (must be 7).

In 1900 Richardson County, Nebraska, J.N. Montgomery is farming born February 1842 in Indiana, married 30 years to Sophia May 1850 Ohio. Mabel January 1876, and Guy Sept 1883 were both born in Nebraska.

September 1906 Stella, Nebraska "Dr. Montgomery and wife, Mrs. S.A. Montgomery and Maud attended the Allen -Swift weddin gin Nebraska ity last Thursday evening."

June 12, 1908 "Guy Montgomery and Miss Maude Montgomery have gone to Sterling, Colorado, where each expects to take a homestead if suited with the country."

In 1910 Yuma County, Sophia is farming, 59, born in Ohio, widowed. Maude 34, single born in Nebraska is wwith her.

On the same page is Guy Montgomery, 26, born in Nebraska, married six years to Etta 25 born in Kansas. Worthy is 3, born in Nebraska.

August 21, 1913 "Mrs. S. A. Montgomery, daughter, Miss Maude, and grandson, Clarance Ritchie, arrived Saturday from their home in Stella, Nebraska, for a visit with Guy Montgomery, a son of Mrs. Montgomery, living several miles north. Mrs. Montgomery will remain four or five weeks as she has a homestead near the Cheney ranch and Miss Maude will remain until the first of September at which time she will return to Nebraska and take up her work as an instructor in the school room "

Sophia A. Montgomery proved up 320 acres in 1 and 2, 4N 43W in 1918.

In 1920 Richardson County, Sophia is 69, widowed,
Maud is with her, 45, a school teacher.

Sophia 79 and Maude 54 are in Richardson County in 1930, too
MAUDE

Maud Montgomery was a teacher in the Stella, Nebraska schoo in 1904.

In 1907 "Maud Montgomery has been re-elected teacher of the grammar department of the school at a salary of $55 per month."

Maude Montgomery cash-claimed a quarter in section 14, 4N 43 W in 1911.

Maude is living alone in 1940 Richardson County.


GUY

1906 Stella "Jessie Curry returned to her studies in Lincoln Saturday after a weeks visit with her sister, Mrs. Guy Montgomery."

1907 Stella, Nebraska "Considerable sickness prevails here. Some of the sick lately are.. Guy Montgomery's baby and a few others."

1909 Wray Rattler "Guy Montgomery has killed eight coyotes witli his hounds in the last two weeks. Let tho good work go on. "

Guy Montgomery proved up two quarters in sections 11 and 12, 4N 43W in 1917.

October 1913 "The stork paid a visit to the Guy Montgomery home on October 14 and left a boy baby.

November 1913 "Guy Montgomery cribbed 2400 bushels of corn this season from 110 acres."

In 1914 Mrs. Guy Montgomery had unclaimed letters at the Wray post office.
May 1914 "Guy Montgomery went to Wray Saturday to meet his little seven year old son who returned from a several month s stay at Stella, Nebraska, where he had been living with his grandmother and attending sbhool. The son was accompanied home by his aunt, Mrs. D, Montgomery "

1917 "The 800-acre farm, known as the Guy Montgomery ranch, was sold by Cosie Blanchard last week to Seth Barrett of Eckley "

In 1930 Richardson County, Guy is 46, Etta 45, and Robert 16 born in Nebraska.

In 1940, Guy and Etta are alone.

October 29, 1941 "FALLS CITY, Neb. — Word arrived here of the marriage in Omaha of Miss licnore Lindhle, daughter of Mrs. R. B. Jones, Omaha, to Robert Montgomery, son of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Montgomery of Humboldt. "


Etta might be the daughter of John Robert Curry 1856-1924 buried in Doniphan County, Kansas # 98640182, with Matisha Elizabeth Curry 1861-1901.
In 1900 Doniphan County, John and Martha, both born in Kentucky, Irwin 20 Kentucky, Millie 18 Keetucky, Owen 16 Kentucky, and Ettie Feb 1886 and Jennie Sept 1888 borth born in Kansas.



KITTIE
Kittie Ousdale was in California in 1910, and died there October 16, 1955. She and Dr. Asbjorn Pedersen Ousdal 1879-1959 are bureid in Santa Barbara # 87166976.

ASA WHITTIER
Asa stayed in Richardson County, a physician, with wife Nettie.
